And since you will be Quilting-A-Long, I figured you should get some say in the designing process :) I decided to stick with a star design because they are always so popular. (See the previous Star QAL's Here) So I was playing around in EQ and came up with a starting design and then changed around the color layout to come up with 4 options. So now it's your turn. Which design do you like?? Do you like a certain part of 1 but wish it were put in another?? Just throw out anything you want . . . This is your time to make your opinion heard ;) (oh, and yes, these will have more color and prints, like the last QAL's but I kept them all the same for this part so we could focus on the design)
So . . . Here they are
Star Light Star Bright Version 1
Star Light Star Bright Version 2
Star Light Star Bright Version 3
Star Light Star Bright Version 4
So, what do you say . . . Do You Want to Quilt-A-Long with Me????
I would love to join your QAL - never done one before! I usually just watch. I really like the gray in version one. It looks like it could be a manly quilt.
ReplyDeleteActually, they're all very nice, but I like number 4 the best. It'll be fun to do a quilt-a-long with you.
ReplyDelete1. Yes, I want to quilt along with you. Of course I do. You know I do.
ReplyDelete2. I cannot possibly choose one of those designs. They are all perfect. Let someone else pick, so I can say that's the one I don't like as much as the others.
3. You know, of course, that I'm still trying to finish the top for your last quilt along, right?
I really like the secondary patterns in number one, but the individual block of number four the best. Maybe put the center star from four into one?
ReplyDeleteI would like to join! Sooo hard to decide, but I think I most prefer #1, followed by #4.
ReplyDeleteYes,I do.They are all fabulous.this is my choice:3,4, 2,1.Have a fun weekend!
ReplyDeleteI like version one the best -- it feels like the blocks integrate with each other better and look like an integrated overall pattern when put together, instead of separate blocks, which I like. Thanks for hosting!
ReplyDeleteI love everything about version one!
ReplyDeleteSince I'm a newbie, I have never participated in a QAL. But, if I decide to join you all...I like blocks 1 & 3. Thanks!
ReplyDelete2 is my favorite -- I like the pop that the additional color provides. My other choice ranking is 1,3,4.
ReplyDeleteI personally like 2 and 4. I think 2 would be great for stash busting!
ReplyDeleteI really like all of them, with maybe #4 a little ahead because it has my favorite center star.
ReplyDeleteI love #1 the most, but number 4 is a close second.
ReplyDeleteI really like #1, the simplicity and lines are great.
ReplyDeleteI am loving the overall design of #1 and the individual block of #4... would love to join for whichever one you decide on though! Thanks for all your hard work!
ReplyDeleteI love 1 and 4. You are an amazing designer.
ReplyDeletewow wonderful im totally in love with version 2
ReplyDeleteI love number 4!
ReplyDeleteI like 4
ReplyDeleteThis looks like it will be fun (as always). I like version 1 and 4.
ReplyDeleteYay!! I was hoping you'd do another QAL soon! I love version 1 the most, but love how version 2 has an extra color thrown in. Not sure how another color would work in version 1 though...
ReplyDeleteNo. 3
ReplyDeleteOh, no, please don't start another QAL, you are killing me! :) I already have 3 planned for next year plus two quilts of my own design... but how can I not join your?? ;) I like the clean look of the surrounding pieces of version 3... I think the other ones would be a little too busy if I use scraps (as I always do ;) ). But the star I think it could be the one in version 2... with a fussy cut square in the middle would be very cute!! And different from the previous starts in other QALs too :) but all of them are great!!
ReplyDeleteThese are fantastic and I love the color scheme you used!! Number one is my fave followed by 4, 3 & 2 in that order. I promised myself January was only for finishing up WIPS and starting the Vice Versa BOM over at Gen X...but now I might have to break that promise...
ReplyDeleteI am always in for your QAL's! Yippee!! I like version #1 because all the stars connect!
ReplyDeleteLove versions 2 and 4!! 1 and 3 are pretty great too!! Would love to join for whichever one you decide to do! Thanks for all your hard work!
ReplyDeleteYay! Another Happy Quilting Quilt-Along! I love version 1 the best... It's simple, clean and I like how the blocks look once joined in rows.
ReplyDeleteI really like 4 & 3. The middle of 4 reminds me of a hunter's star!
ReplyDeleteI'm really drawn to #1 - clean and simple! And it makes a neat secondary pattern when joined into rows. I'd say #2 is my least favorite. I feel like there is too much going on.
ReplyDeleteI like the center star of version 2 inserted into version 4 with all the center square pieces the same color.
ReplyDeleteOh great, another qal! I really want to try to take part this time! My favorite is number one!
ReplyDeleteOh, it is hard to decide which is the favorite. But I like no 3 most. A wonderful idea with a new QAL.
ReplyDeleteSorry but I have to go along with the gal who wanted the center of block 4 in the middle of block 1! That's a winner for me!
ReplyDeleteI like all of them, but if I ranked them, it would be 4, 2, 3 1
ReplyDeleteI will join, never have before but will get me going!
ReplyDeleteVERSION ONE AVORITE ; looks more modern to me..............
thanks for all your blogs
I just read #33's and I agree
ReplyDeletecenter of block 4 into the middle of block 1
Merry Christmas everyone
Looks great! And I love them all! Whatever you decide will be fine with me.
ReplyDeleteI like them all, but my favorite is #1. I like the secondary design, it doesn't look like individual blocks.
ReplyDeleteI've never done a quilt along. Looks like fun and I really like star blocks. I vote for #1, but like them all.
ReplyDeleteI like the 8-point star of version #4 and would replace it with the star in version #1 as I like the outer part of version #1 the best.
ReplyDeleteI would love to join your quilt-along if I have the time when it comes down to it. I love how well written your instructions are and all of the sizing options. Maybe some day you can write a star quilt book out of all of your tutorials!
Today I am binding a custom king-sized quilt in your Star Surround pattern in Seahawks and Broncos fabric. It is one giant block 114" square. You can read a progress post about it here: http://busyhandsquilts.blogspot.com/2013/12/custom-king-sized-seahawks-broncos.html I will be posting the completed quilt, shams, and curtains in the next few days.

ReplyDelete#1 or #4 for me. I know it's not much help but neither is this 21 month climbing on my desk. Sorry!
ReplyDeleteI am torn between #2 and #4. They are all outstanding.
ReplyDeleteI love version #2. And I am looking forward to the QAL!
ReplyDeletei really like them all but the secondary pattern on #1 is my favorite, love the frame the grey makes, not such a white looking quilt. btw i will join you again, always need to make sure i have tooooo many projects. lol
ReplyDeleteI love them all! What about a quilt with 4 rows by 4 wide and use 4 of each design, one of each in every row/column?
ReplyDeletethelady at hotmail.com
Love No. 1 the best. No. 4 second.
ReplyDeleteNUMBER FOUR! I usually just an a peeping tom and watch what is going on, but I might join this one!
ReplyDeleteI am excited about starting this qal as I started following you after my friend showed me the last one. I love number 1 because of the secondary design formed between the blocks. I hope I am responding only once
ReplyDeleteI like #4. I may join this one, depending on when it gets started.
ReplyDeleteVersion 1 and 2 the best. Easy for moms to get done!
ReplyDeleteI like 1 or 4. I will be joining in.
ReplyDeleteLove number 2. Count me in!
ReplyDeleteI'll be running a Bag-Along, but I look forward to seeing what you all come up with :o)
ReplyDeleteI've never done this before but wasn't to play along too..err quilt along!! I love them all but I especially like # 1.
ReplyDeleteI've never done a QAL before... I'd LIKE to do this one. I prefer #1 personally. :) Thanks and Merry Christmas to you and your family!
ReplyDeleteI have never done a QAL and would love to join. All your designs are great but I think I like #1 best.
ReplyDeleteYes! I will do #2 or perhaps a sampler of the four! Bring it, January.
ReplyDeleteOf course you know I'll be joining in. I like number one the best. Four I think is fancy too but it is too similar to the star one you did last. Two seems crazy busy to me.
ReplyDeleteLove #2 the best. Would be great to know how much fabric we'll need so we can plan our post-Christmas purchases!
ReplyDeleteYAYAYAYAYAYAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Seriously, when I saw your having another quilt-a-long, I had to shout for joy!!
ReplyDelete(earning myself a weird look from my husband ha ha)
I really actually love number 2! It looks really interesting! I CANT wait to do this quilt! Count me in this time again!! Your quilt-a-longs are great!!!
Jessica
Option 3 is my first preference and Opiton4 is my second. Lovely colors!
ReplyDeleteI found your last one on the link up day, but made it anyway and LOVED it. Since I love stars I'm thinking I'm in for this one too, only from the beginning. :)
ReplyDeleteBy the way I really really like version 4.
DeleteLooks like fun! I like them all but if I had to choose. No. 2
ReplyDeleteI love #1, and just the way it is!! If we do that one, I'm doing it in the colors that you used: it's just so lovely!!! Have a very Happy Christmas!! BIG hugs to you and your family!!! I've loved getting to know you this year: you are just a doll!! Hugs, H in Healdsburg
ReplyDeleteI like #2 as a whole quilt & #1 (or 4) as a stand alone block.
ReplyDeleteI have never participated but might consider. I need a challenge to work on POINTS!!!! I like number 1.
ReplyDeleteI think Number 1 has a really modern feel to it which I love. Thank you for all you do! You are such a talented and creative person. Looking forward to the new year and the new quilt!
ReplyDeleteI like number 4 the best, but they are all beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed working on your last Quilt Along and hope I have time to join this on as well. My vote is for #2, definitely the most unique looking to me.
ReplyDeleteI like 1 and 4 (although I'd probably add a 4patch to the center of the star, or a square in a square as in #2--seems to show the star off better!
ReplyDeleteI love version 1!
ReplyDeleteI'm in!! But I can't decide on which on to do yet
ReplyDeleteVERSON 4 , even though all the points and hst challenge me, I might be up to it in Jan.. its all in Fun
ReplyDeleteI like the gray in 1 and the design in 4, so a combo of the two? They all look great though!
ReplyDeleteI've never done one before, so maybe I'll be up for it in Jan!
I like No. 1 but I'm not going to join in this time around, I have decided no new projects until I finish some I already have, like quilting the two quilt tops I made from your Star Surround quiltalong this year!
ReplyDeleteI need something to do, and joining you in the QAL would fit right in since I have never done one. I like version 3, put all of them are great. I am a little color challenged, so hope you can help on that.
ReplyDeleteMy vote is for number 1. I'll most likely join no matter which one is picked. Your QA's are always fun -- and pretty!
ReplyDeleteI like a combo of 1 and 4 - star with a solid border but the four corners set up to be tulips and leaves; challenging and spring themed ( the sun is coming back!!)
ReplyDeleteIs anyone keeping count of which one is in the lead? Personally, I like number 2! :)
ReplyDeleteMmm any of 1-3. I actually just finished my star surround top last week so I guess it's time for another :) the only thing I don't like about 4 is that the center looks just like star surround. But can't wait to quilt along!
ReplyDeleteThis will be a new different challenge for me. I say sure, why not! I really like number 1! Someone said put four's center star in number one, that would be a nice one too! One doesn't have to blog to link up right? Just join flicker, yes? PS used your video tut. To finish the binding on my last quilt. Awesome!!! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteNumber 4 appeals to me most but it is interesting to see the variations.
ReplyDeleteI would love to join in the QAL, and liked all of the designs, but thought version 4 was my favorite.
ReplyDeleteI would like to do the quilt-a-long with you and all the other many quilters who participate. I like Pattern 4 followed by Pattern 1.
ReplyDeleteCount me in!! Love # 2 - and would opt for a 1 big star block baby quilt: that's all I can commit to. You are the best - what a great xmas gift from you to all of us!
ReplyDeleteThank you and Merry Christmas!
Love #2 - It looks like scrappy would also work with it as long as you stayed within the range for each point. Thank you for taking the time to design and develop this!
ReplyDeleteI'll be in it ! I love version 4. I've done other quilt alongs & love them so am looking forward to this one!!
ReplyDelete1 and 4. I like the way the first one works together.
ReplyDeleteI like #1 best
ReplyDeleteI like 2 and 4.
ReplyDeleteI don't think we can go wrong with any of them....can hardly wait! Thank you for planning this! Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteYes, I want to quilt-along! Number 1 is my fave. Thanks for putting another QAL together!
ReplyDeleteFirst time participating in a QAL! I prefer no. 1.
ReplyDeleteLast two!
ReplyDeleteOh I love quilting along with you! I'm working on remodeling a room in our house for my sewig room, so while I'm too swamped to do a whole quilt (maybe), my "new" room is going to need something pretty on the wall, right? So I'm in!!
ReplyDeleteOh, and I like #1 the best, with #3 coming in second.
#1 looks very interesting and is my favorite... but as someone else has said, #4 is a very close second. I've never joined in a QAL... maybe it's time that I try one out. ;-)
ReplyDeleteI like them all. I was drawn to #3 though. But I like the complexity of 4, but I also like all the colors of#2..decisions, decisions
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteNumber one is my fav, hands down.
ReplyDeleteAll of the patterns are great; however, I like #4 the best. It looks like more of a piecing challenge then the others and would be a beautiful (controlled) scrappy quilt.
ReplyDeleteI love all of them. If I were going to choose just one block to make a whole quilt, I would choose #1 because I like the secondary pattern that is formed. I want to do a QAL. I don't seem to get BOM's completed and I can try. Miracles still happen.
ReplyDeleteI like four!
ReplyDeleteI like #3. I'm a new reader and I think I'm going to attempt the QAL.
ReplyDeleteI love them all, but the secondary pattern in #1 is really attractive. More modern - which interests me a lot.
ReplyDeleteI love them all, but the secondary pattern in #1 is really attractive. More modern - which interests me a lot.
ReplyDeleteI think you probably have enough comments to make a decision, but I like #1 because it looks more modern but can be used with other fabrics also for an entirely different look. That would be my pick. Thanks for your hard work.
ReplyDeleteHonestly? They are all really cute!
ReplyDeleteI like #4.
ReplyDeleteI would love to join. My favorite blocks are 1 and 4.
ReplyDeleteNumber 1, followed by number 4
ReplyDelete#1!!!
ReplyDeleteI've never done a quilt along before. I'd love to join! I like all the blocks....but #1 is my favorite.
ReplyDelete1&4 love them both!
ReplyDeleteYeah! The quilt I made for your last QAL is my absolute fav! Love 4 and 1 but will do whatever one you decide!
ReplyDeleteI like 1&4
ReplyDeleteI will vote for Version #4. And maybe since I am seeing this at the beginning I can actually participate and make a point to keep up!!!!! Love that you offer smaller versions of the quilts! Thank you so much for doing that!
ReplyDeleteI would go for number 1. Love it!!!
ReplyDeleteOh wow!! Okay, I may just make one of these....love number 3!!!
ReplyDeleteThese are all great, Melissa! My favorite is #2, followed by #1.
ReplyDelete#1 gets my vote due to the secondary pattern formed!
ReplyDeleteI vote for Version 1! I am a new follower, and I LOVE the wonky version of your first QAL, which I have downloaded from Craftsy -- Thank you!! I would love to join the QAL -- I am in the midst of my first QAL now, and running behind. Hope to catch up right after xmas and be "clean" to start this one.
ReplyDeleteI like 3 and 1. All are nice actually! Hard to decide.
ReplyDeleteThey all look fab. 1 and 2 are my preference with poor old 3 bringing up the rear :)
ReplyDeleteI like #4 the best!
ReplyDeleteNumber 4 is my favorite -- it has great movement. I'd love to quilt along with this pattern.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a lot of fun. My choice would be #4. It really pops.
ReplyDeleteI looooved your last QAL and was so sad I couldn't quilt... along! I was in the middle of a move and just couldn't make it work. Anyway, I love #4 because it reminds me most of the Star Surround QAL. I also like the secondary pattern of #1, since I'm trying to increase my FMQ skills next year. I'm pretty sure Santa's bringing me a juki!!! Anyway, I can't wait for the QAL!
ReplyDeleteI love #2 and also #4 I would love to quilt along with this pattern.
ReplyDeleteI really like the #2 design best. Its different and you could add any 3rd color or use grey as the background too: I love yellow.
ReplyDeleteI like design version 4 but would add the bright yellow from version 2 to it, I love yellow color, it goes very well with navy blue and green. I would like to join your quilt a long 2014.
ReplyDeleteI really like #1
ReplyDeleteI really like #1
ReplyDeleteI love the tile effect of Number One.
ReplyDeleteI like the combination idea of 1 and 4! All the different color combos would be fabulous!!
ReplyDeleteI like both 1 and 4... with a bit more love for #4. :)
ReplyDeleteI like #4 Melissa, it looks more challenging !
ReplyDeleteThey are all great, but I would say #2 is my favorite.
ReplyDelete2 then 1.
ReplyDeleteI would love number 4 with number two's center! Hmmm. Sounds like indecision to me! Hugs
ReplyDeleteI like 1 or 4. Four looks like a bit more work matching seams but I am up for the Challenge.
ReplyDeleteNumber 3 please!
ReplyDeleteI loved being in your star surround quilt along and I will be in the next one too. I vote for version #2!
ReplyDeleteI love number 1
ReplyDelete2 and 4 are my choice. Sounds like a fun QAL.
ReplyDeleteHmm...I really can't decide between 1 and 4. I love, love, love how my one block design from the last quilt along turned out, and I think that both 1 and 4 could be equally gorgeous as one block designs.
ReplyDeleteOoh I've always watched along, but I've never participated, but a one block version I could possibly fit in! I like number 2 the best. Reminds me of tulips in the corners :)
ReplyDeleteI just found your blog and love the idea of a quilt a long. I've never made anything large before and love the idea of quilting along with others on the same project. I love all your designs so will be happy with whichever one is chosen. Thanks for doing this and now I'm going to subscribe by email so I don't miss the start of it.
ReplyDeleteI love #2 with #4 a close second. This will be fun!
ReplyDeleteI really love #2 it looks perky I like your color layout! I would love to quilt along:)
ReplyDelete
