Winning, Quilting, & Shopping, Oh My!!!

I have a bunch of tidbits to share today.

First . . . a winner of the Shabby Fabrics Christmas Keepsakes  Blog Hop!!  The winner of a $25.00 Shabby Fabrics Gift Certificate is . . .   #112

Congrats to Kathy E!!!!!  I have sent you an email :)

Next up . . . I am quilting today!!  I know, it's hard to see because it just blends away so nicely.   It is 503 grey of So Fine Threads by Superior Threads and I am free motion quilting an all over echoed paisley design with it.   The fabrics are Cherie by Frances Newcombe and I am hoping to be sharing a tutorial tomorrow morning of this.   (Although today has just been crazy so far, so we will see how that all plays out ;)

And last, a little weekend shopping special for you!!!   All of my kids are out of school this weekend for Harvest Recess (hence the crazy day mentioned above).  So Southern Fabric is giving all of my readers a little Harvest Recess special.   Use the code HAPPYQUILTING and get 20% off all of your full price items until 10/17 midnight :)   Have fun with your Harvest Shopping :)

All right, I am off to quilt like a mad lady during nap time ;)  Wish me luck!!

Makin' It Cute

So remember the Makin' it Cute flowers Me and My Sister Designs did at Spring Market . . . well this dynamic duo have done it again!!  Their newest Makin' It Cute designs are out and so adorable!!!  Just look :)

Me and My Sister Designs have now created templates for Butterfly Bliss and Hearts Delight.   This was my first time playing with the Makin' it Cute templates and oh my, they were so much fun and so very easy to make!!

You start by making a quilt sandwich.  You can spray baste them if you like but I found my fabric stuck to my batting just fine without it ;)

Then trace the templates onto your sandwich.  I decided to trace them onto the back so that if I didn't cut just perfect it wouldn't show up ;)

Then stitch a line 1/4" in from your traced line.

And then cut on the line.   I used my pinking shears to add a little fun on the edge.

And when I got to my heart, I decided to shake things up a bit.  So I cut out my hearts first.

And then stitched a fun blanket stitch around the end closing up the ends.   I love the added bit of texture it gives around the edges :)

Once you have them all stitched together, just stack them up and sew a button through the middle to keep all of the layers together.   And your done!!  How easy and fun is that!!

Now the only problem, my daughter can't decide what she wants to make cute in her room.   She is thinking the mirror.

Or maybe her reading corner.

Or maybe with her princess dress-ups.

I think I need to make up a few more of these :)  Which I am sure will make everyone happy as my daughters have fallen in love with these and want to make everything in the house cute!!

These templates are made in conjunction with It's Sew Emma from the Fat Quarter Shop.   Be sure to check out the Jolly Jabber for lots more Makin' It Cute fun :)  There are a whole bunch of bloggers Makin' It Cute today!!  And, the Jolly Jabber is giving away 10 template sets as well!!!  So be sure to pop on over :)

Have a Happy Quilting (and Cute Makin) Day!!

On the Bandwagon

So there were two things at Spring Market that I just knew I needed to be a part of and it has only taken me to Fall Market to get around to it.   I finally put in my order and over the weekend a squishy package arrived with these two lovelies!!!

I am sure by now you have all seen this amazing image of the Moda Modern Building Blocks quilt.   It is amazing!!!  This went on my To Do list the day after I got back from Spring Market and I knew I had to make it.

And now I have this gorgeous spread of patterns!!!   I have no idea when I am going to make this, what fabrics I am going to make it in, ect, ect.   Really I have no plan at all.  I just know that I want to make it someday and I needed the pattern to do that ;)

And the second little set of goodness, these Cotton + Steel basics.  I loved  these basics at Market and I am falling for them more and more seeing all of the amazing projects made with them.   So once again, I have no idea what I plan to do with these, I just wanted to have some to play with so when inspiration strikes, they will be there ;)

So here I am, probably jumping on the bandwagon a little late, but I am on it,  Now I just need to decide what to do with them besides pet them ;)

October Bees - Check :)

After shipping out last months blocks the last day of the month, I was determined to get on top of things this month ;)  So here it is the 10th and I am done.  Not to shabby ;)  I had so much fun this month with my blocks.

The first was for the Bees Knees bee and it was a block that I have had on my "To Do" list for a long time.   Shari  asked us to make a Modern Maple Leaf block from Amanda-Woodward Jennings pattern found here ;)  This block was so much fun to make.  It just moved making an entire quilt of these way up the to do list ;)   And this was actually my first time ever quilting with linen.   Ya, It was so fun!!

Now Shari was kind enough to cut everything before sending it so I totally didn't do this on purpose, but look how awesome, this little giraffe lined up perfectly.  Don't you just love it when that happens ;)

And for the Beejeebers group, Barbara asked us to make a Delectable Star block using this pattern by Cindy Carter.   This is going to be so pretty in Christmas red and green.  I can't wait to see it all come together ;)

And now my cutting mat is clear and I am ready to take my cut squares from earlier this week and start turning them into quilt tops ;)   How about you, any fun quilting projects on your list to do this weekend??

Have a Happy Quilting Day!!
