Brian Head to Zion!!!!

This weekend, I participated in the Red Rock Relay.  It is a 187 mile relay race from Brian Head, UT to Zion. Our team consisted my husband, all but one of his siblings, their spouses, the two oldest grandchildren and me ;)

We each ran 3 legs in the race, and I ran about 12 1/2 miles of that 187 miles.   Our total teams time was just under 29 hours,  which is averaging a little less than  9 1/2 minute miles.   And no, I can not run even close to that fast :)  Thank heaves for my awesome team who totally averaged out my miles and times! I married into a family of amazing runners!!!

I experienced a whole gamut of emotions during the race.  I went from fun and bouncy, to heat exhaustion  and throwing up,  and then back around to the complete joy and elation of having a good run and finishing it up the way I wanted to.   This was my first time ever doing any kind of race like this.  And it was a crazy physical and emotional rollercoaster for sure.

But I can stand back now and be so grateful that I accomplished this!!   I have already been asked if I would do it again, and I can say, With this family, absolutely!!!

I am so grateful to be a part of such an amazing family!!!  They encouraged me along every step of the way and made this such a fun and wonderful experience and a memory that I will always cherish. Thank you Corry's!!!!!

Pave The Way

Today I am super excited to share with you one of my "secret projects"!!!  It's called Pave the Way and I absolutely love, love love it!!!

Pave the Way is featured in the Quilts from Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks Fall 2015 edition.  it uses Half Square Triangles and No-Waste Flying Geese so it is easy-to-piece and oh so much fun to make!!

The design came from my original Pavers Stone Block that was in 100 Blocks Volume 11.  I added a second block to offset the layout.  I love that when you look at them at first it almost looks the same, but then, you start to see the rotation of the 2 blocks.  Such fun movement!!

I finished quilt quilt off with an all over swirl design.  The fabrics are Farmhouse by Fig Tree Quilts for Moda and can I just say how much I love this line, especially the little pops of black!!!  So fabulous!!!

And that is Pave the Way!!!   I hope you love it as much as I do!!  It really is just so much fun to put together and such a lovely quilt finish :)  And yippee, it is so fun to finally get to share!!!

Thanks for popping in today and always!!!  You guys are the best!!!

Have a Happy Quilting Weekend!!!

Birdie Blocks

So even though it is September, I did get my August Bee Blocks out in time (pretty much the last day of the month, but still counts) I just forgot to post about them until now ;)   August had a bird theme to it ;)

Jan in our Beejeebers group requested these adorable Improv Birds using this tutorial.  Jan requested a fun black/white background and I just love how it makes the birds pop.  So cute!!!

And in our Bees Knees Group, Cynthia sent us these adorable fabrics to make the Mother Hen block from Farm Girl Vintage.   I have said it once, and I will say it again and again, I sure love making the Farm Girl Vintage Blocks!!!

Now it's on to September's Blocks. Maybe I can get them out before the last day of the month this time, tee, hee, hee :)

Precut Primer Blog Hop!!

Well it's the last day of the Precut Primer Blog Hop and that means we must be getting towards the end of of schooling!!    Here are some of the facts you need to know for the test :)  Precut Primer is written by the oh so amazing duo of Mary Jacobson and Barbara Groves from Me and My Sister Designs!!  These ladies are some of the sweetest and most amazing people you will ever meet, and I am so grateful to be able to call them friends!!

So when my dear friends Mary and Barbara asked if I would like to piece a quilt for their upcoming book earlier this year I was all over it!!!  And I was totally drawn to this amazing 11th Grade quilt that I get to share with you today!!!

Isn't this just such a gorgeous design!!!  I love the way they turned the block on point, gives it a whole new look!!!   And the pattern and piecing process is super easy, so even though this is a large quilt, it goes together real fast!!

The 11st Grade quilt was hanging at Market so of course, I had to jump in and take a picture with it.  I really had so much fun making this quilt!!!

And while I did the piecing of the quilt top, it was sent out to Sharon Elsberry to be quilted, and oh my oh my, did she do an absolutely stunning job!!!  Just gorgeous!!!

And of course, I wanted to make something for the actual Blog Hop itself. I decided to make a mini of the single block, and you know if I am going to make a Mini, it is going to be purple!!!  Doesn't the block just look awesome as a mini as well.  I love that it even has a 3d effect to it!!

Doesn't it just look so cute at the end of my ironing board :)  A perfect addition the the purple mini wall!!

Precut Primer is filled with 12 amazing projects that are all precut friendly.  Starting from this adorable 1st Grade Quilt that Barbara (my MIL) pieced using adorable Moda Candy up to the 11th and 12th Grade Quilts that use the Fat Quarters.  You can pop on over to Lissa's to see the 12th grade quilt today ;)

And trust me when I say, each and every quilt is just as adorable as the next!!!  Really, there are some amazing designs and because they are all precut friendly, they go together super fast!!

A few final notes you will need for the test . . . Precut Primer is published by the awesome team of Its Sew Emma and can be found at the Fat Quarter Shop.   This would be an awesome go to book to have in your quilt library to help you use up all those precuts you have been hoarding ;)

And to see all of the amazing quilt in Precut Primer, you can pop along all the hop stops.  Start your way in First Grade and work on up to Graduation!!!   I will be quilting my way through school for sure :)
