Threadology QAL - Economy Block

It's the first of May!!!  And can you believe it, we woke up to Snow this morning.  Ahh, gotta love Utah!!!  And you know what the first of the month means, another  block of the  Threadology Quilt Along hosted by the Fat Quarter Shop!!!!  And the blocks this month are the Economy Block, and they are just so great!!!!

So here are my 3 of the large blocks.  I love doing a little square in a square piecing fun, and it goes oh so quick to make these.   Even the 6 little blocks were so quick to piece, and I loved picking all of the different fabrics for the blocks.

So have you joined in on the Threadology fun???  If so, you can download the block pattern right here and it is requested for each pattern you download to donate $5.00  to the Make a Wish Foundation :)  This is Fat Quarter Shop's annual charity QAL and they are so close to the stretch goal of  $20,000 that Fat Quarter Shop and Moda will match.  So let's help them reach that goal ;)

And while making your blocks . . .  like always, Fat Quarter Shop has made an awesome  You Tube video tutorial that walk you through making this month's blocks and Kimberly will share some awesome some helpful hints to keep all of those pretty points in this block :)

Be sure to share all of your Threadology progress on social media with #threadologyquiltalong and check out Fat Quarter Shops post for Block 7 for lots more Economy Block Inspiration!!!

And that's it for the Seventh block in the Threadology Quilt Along!!!!  There are only one more set of blocks to go, and then it will be time to sew all of these blocks into a quilt top.  I can't wait!!!    But it's never to late to join in the Threadology Quilting Along,  the patterns will always be available.   We are having so much fun!!!

Thanks for popping in today ;)  Have a Happy Quilting Day!!

Happy 3rd Birthday Sew Sampler!!!

Oh my goodness, I can not believe the Sew Sampler Box is 3 Years old :)   Happy Birthday Sew Sampler!!!!    I can't believed I have had 36 aqua boxes arrive on my doorstep, and I have loved each and every one!!!   And of course,  I am so super excited for this new year of Aqua Quilting Goodie Boxes arriving each month!!!    And April's Sew Sampler Box starts off year 4 celebrating with Spinkles and Confetti!!!!

And the party starts with a sprinkling of Tula Goodness, which you know has me all the heart eyes!!!!   I was thrilled to find Pinkerville, Tula's new line of gorgeous fantasy prints mixed with stunning cool colors!!!  The Petite Pinkerville Design Roll paired with the Confetti Star pattern is already on the to make list!!!  All that is left is to just pick up the Finishing Kit ;)     It is just so fantastic!!!

And Fat Quarter Shop didn't stop the Tula love there :)  They even had a Sprinkling of Tula in the notions.   How awesome is this 4 1/2" Fussy Cut Ruler!!  Can you see the unicorn etched in it :)  It just makes me smile, such a creative way to add a little pizzazz to a quilting ruler!!!  And the 4" Mini Duckbill Scissors from the Tula Hardware collection will be so perfect for trimming and applique.  I tried them out this morning for a little applique, and I love them already!!!  And the Quilter's Tips are such a great little idea for quilting on your home machine and for binding.  I think those will be going to Barbara, since I owe her big for doing so many of my bindings :)

And last but not least . . . And I am so very excited for this . . .   With a new year of  the Sew Sampler Box, comes a new sampler and this year it is the Goodness Grows quilt designed by Corey Yoder.   Corey was actually in the first online quilting bee I participated and we have been good friends ever since!!!   I absolutely love her fabrics  (made quilts with them here, here, here, and here)  And I am thrilled that I happened to get a bundle of her just announced (not released until Sept.)  Sugarcreek Line from my good friends at Moda!!!!   As soon as I saw the first pattern, I knew I just had to break open this bundle for this new years blocks :)

And here is the first block, Be Fruitful!!!  Isn't is just so great!!!  That is 1" finished patchwork in the center of the block and I can't get over how totally cute it is ;)    I am hoping we will see more of that adorable patchwork in future blocks, but only time will tell.   But I can tell already, I am so going to love this quilt!!!

Which makes me all the more excited to see what will come next month, both in fabric and notions as well as the next Goodness Grows block :)

And sad to say, if you are wanting to get in on the new year of Sew Sampler boxes you have to get in line.  There is currently a waiting list as the box subscription is full.   But hopefully the wait isn't to long.  (I have been told new spots open up each week!!!)     And if you just want to make the new Goddness Grows patterns along with everyone else, they will be available each month, as well as a Goodness Grows Quilt Kit, that includes over 14 yards of fabric in Corey's current line Strawberry Jam, which is oh so great as well!!!

And if you are waiting to get in on the Sew Sampler Box fun, I have a special Birthday Surprise coming later this week . . .think some of this month's quilting goodies . . .be sure and check back :)

Quilt Top Finish = Bonus Project Decision

This week I have a lot going on in the sewing room, but not a lot I can show yet ;)  Good ol Market is fast approaching and that means secret sewing, but not secret for super long, so that is good!!!   I can share this sneak peek of a quilt top I finished up last week. It features Lollipop Garden Fabric by Lella Boutique for Moda.  Don't you just love those happy spring colors!!!  You know I especially love the purples :)    And on a side note, this is my first time trying the whole "quilt swirl" picture, and I have to say, they are a lot harder to swirl then they look.  Being honest, this picture was take number 5, tee hee hee :)

And now with the quilt top finished, I have an extra decision to make.  The quilt top used stitch and flip corners, so now I have a wonderful array of Bonus Half Square Triangles that I thought would make a cute little pillow to go with the quilt :) The only question is, what layout to do???    I played with a Giant Diamond, Straight Rows, Chevron, and Little Diamonds.    And of course, the possibilities go on and on :)

Do you have a favorite HST layout???  Help a girl decide :)

I hope you all have a very Happy Quilting Weekend!!!

Quilt Auction for Sew Much Hope!!!

I am super excited to let you all know that the Sew Much Hope Charity Quilt Auction is underway!!  The Quilt Auction Stars Here and will run through Saturday May 4th.   At 11 am that morning the quilts will be taken to the UQSM Quilt Show to the live Auction where they will finish on stage with a live auctioneer   (but no worries, you can call in your bid if you can't be there in person :)  Isn't that just so fun!!!   You can read all about the Sew Much Hope Charity here .  It warms my heart to be able to using my love for quilting to help such an amazing cause!!!

You wanna see the quilts that are being auctioned???  Oh, they are oh so fun :)  Each "celebrity" quilt was made with the same fabric that is being used for the Challenge Quilt at the Show.   It is Looking Forward by Jen Kingwell and I love how happy and bright it is.

I made my Back to Basics Quilt for the auction.  (Pattern in my etsy shop)  I love how the black background just makes those happy bright prints just pop!!!  The quilt measures 68" x 82" so it is a great size to wrap up in or use on a twin bed :)

And there are three other amazing quilts you can bid on as well.   Jenny Doan from Missouri Star Quilt Company made this gorgeous Disappearing Pinwheel Church Dash Quilt that measures 55" x 66".  I love the Lollies border on it!!!

Natalia Bonner from Piece N Quilt  made this super adorable Made With Love Quilt that measures 58" x 60".   And that straight line quilting just sets off this modern quilt!!

And Kaitlyn Howell from Knot and Thread   made this awesome Mod Diamonds Variation Quilt   that measures 66" x 71".  And I just love the movement in this one.

So that is the Sew Much Hope Quilt Auction, and I am tickled to see that the bidding has already started!!!    Quilters are just amazing in their love and generosity!!!   And how incredible is it that this charity is all about providing refugees with sewing machines to help foster self reliance, it just brings it around full circle!!!

I am so happy to be a quilter and among so many amazing quilters like you all :)

I hope you all have a very Happy Quilting Day!!!
