Threadology Wishes Coming!!!

So it's been a little quiet around here.   Sorry about that :)  I just got back from a camp with 30 teens ages 14-18 from my church  and I was so busy trying to get ready to go, I didn't get any blog posts scheduled for while I was out of cell service.   But it's all good right, that is all part of summer greatness!!!  Getting away from technology and enjoying the great out doors!!!  And we have lot's more outdoors planned to cram in to the next month and a half, so we will see how things go around here over the next few weeks :)

But it is always great to get back to my machine :)  I am working on some new things, and working on finishing up a few older things that I will be able to share soon.   But for today, I just wanted to pop in an give you a final update on the Threadology Quilt Along.

The Quilt Auction of mine and Pat Sloan's Threadology quilts finished this morning.  And I am thrilled to report that it raised $1,437 dollars which is just so awesome!!!

Add that to the amount of $21,648.96 that was raised from donations through out the Threadology Quilt Along from all of the wonderful quilters out there that quilted along.   And then don't forget to add in the $20,000 matched by Moda Fabrics and the Fat Quarter Shop!!!

That is a total of $43,085.96 raised to benefit Make a Wish Foundation!!! Isn't that just incredible.   In 2016 this Charity Quilt Along raised enough to make these two wishes below come true.   And this year, it looks like the amount raised will grant at least 3 wishes to children and that just makes me smile :)

Isn't this industry just amazing to be a part of!!!

Happy Quilting, Indeed!!!!

Be Fruitful Quilt Plan

Okay, so the last thing I need is a new project!!  But sometimes a new project just sort of happens ;)

So here is how it wen't down.  My Be Fruitful Block that  I made back here  is on my counter just waiting for the additional Goodness Grows patterns by Corey Yoder that come each month in my Sew Sampler Box.   And every time I go in to sew, I just can't stop thinking how awesome it would look in a quilt on it's own!!!

And then I thought, nah, I need to make the Goodness Grows quilt.   But then as I thought about the Goodness Grows quilt I realized  I am using an entire fat quarter bundle of Sugarcreek and the Goodness Grows quilt kit  doesn't call for that many fat quarters so there are extra Fat Quarters!!!   And my brain totally rationalized that the last thing I need to do is add more extra fat quarters to my scrap drawers right ;)

So I started  doing some quilty math of what I needed for my Goodness Grows pattern and what I would need for an entire quilt of Be Fruitful blocks, and wouldn't you know it . . . The fabric requirements worked out perfect!!!   Meant to be right!!!    So then I sketched it up and it was instantly a no-brainier.   I need this quilt!!!

And to the cutting mat I went ;)   Who knows when I will have time to actually sew this, (so many projects :)   but it's all cut now, so I know it will happen, sometime!!   It will finish at 75" x 75" with the adding 3" finished sashing.  And aren't those cornerstones just so cute ;)

So yup, another quilt in the making . . . but less scraps in the bin ;)    That's a fair trade, right??

Threadology Quilt Along Finish and Auction!!!

Well it's that time. . . The Threadology Quilt Along hosted by the Fat Quarter Shop is coming to a close and that means finished quilts!!!!   I absolutely love this part of a Quilt Along, seeing everyone's finishes is just so much fun :)    This has been such an amazing event to be a part of and I just love that it was all for such a wonderful cause!!

My quilt finished at 72" x 72" as I did a different layout with more blocks which I described in this post.    This alternating block layout really turned out to be a fun way to mix and match all of those blocks in the two different sizes.   And I just love all of the happy colors and prints.  I used bits and pieces from several Bonnie and Camille fabric lines (including Handmade, Hello Darling, Little Ruby, and Daysail)  and I just love how they all blend in a wonderful harmony across the quilt.

And when it came time to quilt it, I went all out ;)   I did tiny pebble quilting in all of the white space on the quilt to give the quilt lots of texture and help each of the block designs stand out.  Then I quilted each block in it's own little design using petals, feathers, loops, L and E's, arches, wavy lines, cross hatching, and ribbon candy.  It was so much fun to quilt and while it took a while, it was so worth it :)

My favorite 402 Pearl So Fine thread blended perfectly on all of the prints and really made the texture of those pebbles just pop.    And that texture really makes each block stand out, which had me doing a major happy dance.  I am just thrilled with how it all came out and ya, basically I just love it!!! I just wanted to run my hands across the quilt top for days feeling all of that wonderful quilting texture.

But I only had a few days for that because this quilt needed to put in the mail to head to my friends at Fat Quarter Shop because . . .  Surprise Surprise . . .  I decided to Auction this quilt off along with Pat Sloan's to raise even more funds for the amazing Make a Wish Foundation :)

Yup, that's right.  This quilt is now being Auctioned right over here, and all of the proceeds will go to the Make a Wish Foundation.  And can I tell you how much that just warms my heart.  I love that I can use my passion for quilting to help others, it just doesn't get any better than that ;)

And that is my Threadology Quilt!!!!   And now it's your turn to finish yours and I can't wait to see it!!!   And if you are quilting along with the Threadology fun you can download the backing pattern right here and it is requested for each pattern you download to donate $5.00  to the Make a Wish Foundation :)    And wow, you all have been so awesome donating!!!

And be sure to share your Threadology Quilts on social media with #threadologyquiltalong and check out Fat Quarter Shops post for lots more finished Threadology Quilts and Details on the Quilt Auction!!!!   Eeee , I just love seeing all of these beautiful finishes!!!

And that's it for the Threadology Quilt Along!!!!  I am so glad that I was able to participate in this wonderful Threadology Quilting Along and I am already looking forward to next year's Charity Quilt Along.  It's going to be hard to wait 6 months to see what the new design will look like, but I know it is going to be amazing and totally worth the wait ;)

Thanks for popping in today and each and every day ;)   I hope you all have a very Happy Quilting Weekend!!

4 Surrounded Blocks

This last weekend I was in Panguitch teaching at the Panguitch Quilt Walk.  I am still working on my class photo's so I will be sharing those next week, but today I wanted to share some of what I worked on in between classes.   I made 4 Surrounded Blocks from Lissa Alexander's book Oh, Scrap! and I am just so loving them!!!!

You might recall, I stared this project way back here, when I made my first surrounded block for the Oh Scrap! Blog Hop.   I knew then that this was a quilt that I was going to love making!!!  I love all of the low volume goodness, and boy did I have a stash of it building up.   And then after it being in the back of my mind for about a yea , I got serious about getting this project cut out.  And boy oh boy, that was a lot of cutting :)   But I knew that was the hurdle that needed to be jumped and why it had been just sitting in my mind for so long.   And I was thrilled when I cut the last few pieces because I knew then, it was going to made!!!!  I figured it would be the perfect next Leader and Ender project as soon as I finish up my Scraptastic Stars.

But as I went to pack up for Panguitch, I realized I didn't really have another project to piece on.   I have lots of need to be quilted, and a bunch of new need to be cut, but I finished all of those in between ones ;)  So I threw in my box of Surrounded pieces and figured I could work on it a bit here and there.    And that was all it took to get me hooked ;)

I managed to piece 4 blocks while I was at the retreat between my classes.   And that doesn't sound like a lot of blocks, but with 97 Pieces per block I was feeling really good about that!!!   I decided this is an awesome retreat project.  It is just so fun to make each block one at a time and get the thrill of seeing it come together.   It's totally getting thrown in the car every time I travel to sew now ;)

I just love each and every block.   I am so glad that I took the time to cut out all of those tiny pieces so now I can just sew and sew.   And the other awesome part about these blocks,  now I can sit and play eye spy with all of those fun low volumes.  Each one reminds me of another project they were in and that just makes me smile from ear to ear.

And speaking of smiling,  the most exciting part of my sewing time at retreat was that I wasn't sewing alone!!!  Jessica came along and I was thrilled she wanted to come see what retreats are all about!!   She set herself up in the corner of my classroom and went to town :)   I can't wait to share what she worked on.  She only has 4 blocks left that she plans to finish up this weekend, and then it is going on the design wall.  Pictures Coming Soon!!!!

Thanks for popping in today and I hope you all have a very Happy Quilting Day!!!
