More Mask Making

Last night was spent making more Masks, only this time, I was teaching the amazing Young Women in my church how to make their own masks.   School is a few weeks out and they all need masks.   It was fun to see the different personalities come though in their picks of fabric.  A lot just wanted simple black, (it goes with everything!!!)  but some also picked some fun and funky ones :)

They all did such an amazing job!!!  For quite a few, this was their first introduction to a sewing machine and they really did great :)   The other young ladies got introduced to a sewing machine when I taught them how to make Charming Totes a few years back ;)    I just love that this allows me to pass sewing on to a new generation.    Thank heavens there are so many of us that know how to sew right now, I can't even begin to imagine how many homemade masks have been sewn in the last few months by all of you amazing sewers!!!

Oh, and just in case you missed it, I added the link for this pattern on my Monday post, and will also share it here.   Link to the PDF Templates.   I have found this to be an awesome pattern for fit.   I just used 4 of the Part A Pattern and don't do the fitter pocket.  And I love using old T-shirt 1" strips that have been stretched and made into loops for the ears, it is so much softer than elastic.  And today, My plan is to make some masks for me ;)

I hope you all have a very Happy Quilting Day!!!

Making Masks

With all the kids going back to school in a few weeks, it was time to get busy on some masks making.  They will be wearing masks while they are at school, so I wanted them to have enough to get them through the week.   So  the last few days has been a mask making party!!!!

This is a mask pattern from Barbara.  I am not sure where she got it from, but I just love it!!  Here is the Link to the PDF Templates.     (I just used 4 of the Part A Pattern and didn't bother with the filter pocket :)  They are super easy to sew and the fit is great!!   The kids found this pattern the most comfortable of the few that we have tried, so it was a winner of school masks.

And this party consisted of a lot of assembly line!!!  Seriously, assembly line mask making is the only way to go.   We made 25 masks, and they are so much easier to crank out when you do the same step over and over, rather than making each mask individually.   And it was fun to have us all working as everyone had assigned jobs whether it was pressing, clipping, serging, or sewing, which make it go really fast!!!!
Don't they look so fun laid out in a line!!!  I let my kiddo's go through my stash to pick fabrics.  They quickly found that they really liked the hand of the Art Gallery Fabrics against their faces as it is so soft.   I was grateful for that, as it was easier to just go through my Art Gallery stash, then having them raid my entire stash.  (they don't always keep things folded and neat, ha ha ha!!!)
So now we are all set for Back to School!!!  Although, I am sure there will be much, much, much more mask making going on.   Got lots of family and friends that are going back to school as well ;)  Luckily, it feels like I could make these in my sleep already, so we will crank them out in no time!!

I hope you all have a very Happy Quilting Weekend!!!

Surrounded at the Cabin

So this last weekend we spent up at Bob and Barbara's (my amazing in-laws) Newly Finished Cabin.  This cabin has been a Work In Progress for 3 years so it is very exciting that it is all done.   And I figured, since there is a sewing studio in the new cabin (love Barbara!!!) it needed a Work in Progress as well ;)  I went through some of my long term projects and choose my Surrounded Blocks that I started way back here.   So they are now my new Cabin project (along with my Selvage Stars but I forgot starch so I didn't work on those)  and I am super excited to work on them whenever we are up enjoying this new space!!!  And I even got 3 blocks done this weekend!!!

This is the temporary "work station" at the moment.  My sweetheart is actually taking up some sewing tables and other sewing goodies today, so I will be sure and get some good pictures of the space the next time I am there :)

But the best thing about this space that I can share today . . . The View!!!!   Isn't that just absolutely gorgeous :)   That peak that you can see off in the distance is Angel's Landing at Zion National Park.  So pretty!!!  We are so very blessed to have such a peaceful place to play and now sew as well!!!

I can't wait to get back up there (it's about 45 minutes from home) and enjoy the beauties of nature while sewing up a storm ;)

I hope you all have a very Happy Quilting Day!!!
