Merry Christmas from our Family to Yours!!!
Each year, we write an annual Christmas Letter to send out with our Christmas Cards. I thought it would be fun to share it here with all of you, my amazing Quilting Friends :)
Dear Family and Friends,
Obviously the big news of the year is that the Dodgers won
the World Series. All else seems to pale in comparison but I’ll do my
best to update you on some of the other things that have happened this past
year.
Spencer is halfway through his senior year of high
school. While he will graduate from Cedar High he is definitely a Success Academy student. He spends his
time studying, and working at Culver’s with quite a bit of obsession for Magic
the Gathering taking up all his free time. He’s looking forward to
graduating with his associates’ degree from SUU in the spring followed by a
mission. He’s hoping to get going on his papers within the next month or
so.
Jessica, also a student at Success Academy
(sophomore), continues to be the strongest Dodger supporter in the family (next
to yours truly of course). We spent many nights of the shortened season
watching games together and though we weren’t able to travel to Dodger Stadium
this year she already has plans to watch the world champions play in person
next year. Jessi suffered through a few leg injuries in Cross Country for the
last few years, and was unable to finish her season for the second year.
It was rough, but she made the best of it and hopefully we can put those injuries
behind us as she continues to grow.
Kristian is in the middle of his 8th grade year at Cedar
Middle. He has been riding with the Iron Giants mountain bike team for the past
two seasons. Much to the pleasure of his father, he loves it. Like Spencer he
has a fascination for Magic the Gathering that I just don’t understand.
He is looking forward to starting high school next year. Due to his mountain
biking habit he will be my first child to not run cross country in the summer
though with Grandpa retiring I’m not sure anyone will notice.
Kamryn moved from the elementary to the middle school this
year with her starting 6th grade. She seems to be a little bit of all her older
siblings with a little bit of mountain biking, Magic and Dodgers mixed
together. She has also enjoyed learning the flute in band this year and
taking piano lessons from her aunt. She has worked very hard in her
studies and is beginning to enjoy reading.
Jocelyn is still very much the baby of the family. We don’t
even try to hide it. This year on her birthday she asked her teacher if
she got a crown at school. Upon learning that they don’t do that in 3rd grade
she made her own crown and proceeded to wear it all day. Josie sings all day
long. She doesn’t even seem to know that she is singing at times.
If the house is quiet you know Josie isn’t home. We try not to spoil her but
she gets away with a lot, but in the struggle between parents and children the
other kids seem to be able to use that to their advantage so it all seems to work
out.
Melissa continues to be as busy as ever with her quilting.
She continues to design quilts and even dabbled in creating her own fabric this
year. (Edit - If you are still reading, I will share more of this soon :) She has been serving as the young women’s president for the past few
years and loves being with the youth of the ward. She is certainly the glue
that keeps us together as is evidenced by the chaos that ensues when she goes
off to teach as some quilting retreat (though that hasn’t happened as much
during the pandemic).
Not too much has changed for me except that everything has
changed since the Dodgers won the World Series. Every day starts with
birds singing, the sun shining and all is right in the world. It’s a good life.
We wish you all the best as this year comes to a close. We
are grateful for this time of year to reflect on the Savior and his life.
