4 Patch Fun!!

So lately my Leaders and Enders have been making 4 Patches with leftovers from the adorable Hey Boo prints I used in this How They Shine Quilt.   I just love making 4 Patches, they are just so fun and fast and oh so cute!!!

And about a month ago, I turned my 4 Patches of leftover Favorite Things Christmas Prints from this quilt, into 16 Patches.   Which got me thinking, I should probably figure out what I am going to do with all of these Patches that keep growing into rather large piles.

So this morning, I remembered about the panels I had stuffed away in my cupboard ;)   The Hey Boo line comes with the cutest panel of "cute" Halloween Goodness!!!  I cut it up and realized quickly that some of those 4 patches will also need to be turned into 16 patches.  I figured out I have just enough patches and prints to do a 5 x 6 layout, a small border, and then a 4 patch border.   Oh, this is going to be so cute!!!  It's about this point where it stops being a leader-ender project and moves into the Just Make It pile.  So exciting!!!

And I also have some beautiful panel's left from Fancy That Design House's Christmas lines!!  I think they will be a perfect add to these Favorite Things by Sherri and Chelsi 16 patches.  The panels are a little larger than the patchwork, and I don't want to cut them down, so I am thinking an alternating patchwork and panel row layout.  Some sashing between the panels and this will be just the prettiest lap quilt for Christmas.   Yup, another project to add to the Just Make It list ;)

Isn't it fun how it starts as just simple 4 Patches and before you know it . . . it's a new quilt :)   That is my favorite thing about quilting, every little scrap can make something amazing!!   How about you . . . any 4 Patch fun going on in your sewing space???

Dear Peru

Well, as of yesterday, our Jessi has arrived in Peru!!!   She is serving an 18 month mission in the Peru Arequipa Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  We are so excited for her and so proud of this decision she has made to serve!!

And I thought saying goodbye might have been a little easier this time as we experienced this with our son 2 years ago, , , but nope!!!   It was just as hard and honestly, I think a little harder  as we knew what we were getting ourselves into this time.    This is us dropping her off at the Provo Missionary Training Center a few weeks ago.   Yup, no make-up left as we had all the emotions.

We are so very happy and excited for our Jessi girl, but it is just hard to let go.  I am so grateful that to get the first picture and to know that she is now in Peru, safe and sound, and so excited to get teaching.   So Dear Peru, please take care of our daughter.     She has been so excited to come and serve in your beautiful country.  I know that she is going to have so many wonderful experiences while serving in Peru!! And I am so excited that I get to chat with her each week  over zoom, thank heavens for technology!!   We love you so much Jessica!!!

And just so this post has some quilting in it . . .this is Jessi at her first quilt retreat!!   This was so much fun.  Love that this girl loves to sew still :)

Piece and Quilt Sampler QAL - Month 5

It's Month 5 of the  Piece and Quilt Sampler Quilt Along and I am just so excited to share my fifth set of blocks!!!  And there are so many fun blocks this month :)   Thanks to Fat Quarter Shop for hosting this awesome quilt along from the Celebrate with Quilts book!! And here is the month 5 finish!!

I am making my Piece and Quilt Sampler in a diagonal Rainbow of Ombre goodness. (see plan here)  I am just loving how the colors are split through some of the blocks.  It just adds so much variety to them.   So this month we started with four of the 9" Avenue blocks.  And truly, these took longer to cut out and lay out then they did to sew them together, but they are just so fun!!

And then, it was on to the 9" Maple Leaf block.   Where this one was all teal, but still needed 2 "color groupings" I tried to use light and dark teal to make the block stand out more.  I just love the way it turned out ;)  .

And last, but not least, we made a 9" and a 6" Texas Puzzle Block.   Again, I went for the light and dark prints to try and help make the block pop.   I think the pink one turned out so cute.   And the purple/blue one is just so fun and will look so cool in the quilt layout!!  I just can't wait to see this all come together!

So are you joining in the Piece and Quilt Fun???  It's going to be such a fun QAL!  Oh, and once you are done your blocks, Be sure to share your Piece and Quilt Sampler progress on social media with #PieceAndQuiltSamplerQAL :)  There is so much Piece and Quilt inspiration in that hashtag :)

And that's it for Month 5 - 4 of the 9" Avenue blocks, a 9" Maple Leaf block, and a 9" and 6" Texas Puzzle blocks in the Piece and Quilt Sampler Quilt Along!!!!

Thanks for popping in today ;)  Have a Happy Quilting Day!!
