Home Town Holiday Sampler Quilt Along - Week 2

It is Week 2 of the Home Town Holiday Sampler Quilt Along hosted by Fat Quarter Shop and this weeks blocks are just classic!!   This week we are making 2 Glitter Holiday Star Blocks and 2 Cozy Holiday Star Blocks!!! And churn dash turned into stars, so fun!!

For my Sampler I am using Sweetwater Christmas Prints from several lines paired with a POParazzi Grey Background.  I love how Sweetwater tends to use the same colors in their Christmas lines so I can mix and match them all in the blocks.   I can't wait to see how this continues to come together!!

And that is it for Week 2 of of the Home Town Holiday Sampler Quilt Along!!!   Do you want to come join in the Holiday Goodness as well?  Each week leading up to Christmas, we will be making these cute blocks from the Lori Holt's new  Home Town Holiday Sampler Book!   You can see the complete schedule here and check out all the details here and come quilt along ;)

See ya next week with more Home Town Holiday Sampler goodness!!  We will be making more stars!

Vintage Sunburst QAL - Month 9

It's Month 9 of the  Vintage Sunburst Quilt Along hosted by Fat Quarter Shop and I am so super excited because this month, I finished piecing all of the Sunburst blocks!!!   !!    And here they are and I am almost done with my Vintage Sunburst Quilt

This is the last of my 12" Paper Piecing Pads blocks using the cool tones of the Blossom Basics with the Warm Tones in the corners to make the secondary diamonds when the blocks are sewn together.     Next month my plan is to  sew the quilt top together !!!  I am so very excited to see this one all finished up!!!

I have started back up on the  leaders and enders from the paper piecing scraps .  Wow, there are a lot of these!!   I have gotten about 1/4 of the way through this pile.  Time to dig in :)

And if you want to make your own Vintage Sunburst Quilt, you can find the free pattern for this Quilt Along  here ;)   It is such a great way to work on your paper piecing skills!!    Pop over the the Vintage Sunburst Quilt Along page to get all of the details and join me in some paper piecing fun :)

Crossing Paths in Painted Blossoms!!!

Today I am super excited to be sharing this beautiful new Crossing Paths quilt finish with you featuring the oh so adorable Painted Blossoms Collection by Amanda Cocoran for Poppie Cotton!! And I have been wanting to make a larger Crossing Paths quilt with a dark background because I just loved the baby version like that!!   And I just love how this came together!!!

This Crossing Paths quilt is such a fun one to make!!!   It is Fat Quarter Friendly, so you can just grab a bundle, pick out your background fabric (I used Country Confetti Sidewalk Grey), and get right to cutting!!  Isn't it just so fun how that Sidewalk Grey background just makes all of these beautiful prints just pop!!  They are so happy and bright, and that just makes me smile!!

And while this might look a little difficult, Crossing Paths it truly is a great beginner quilt that teaches a lot of basic quilting techniques.  You learn Square in a Square, Stitch and Flip, and Now Waste Flying Geese.   And if you notice, there are only about 4 points that you need to worry about lining up on each block, so that makes it super fun and fast when it is time to piece all the units into blocks!!!

And my favorite thing about this pattern is how the cool secondary designs come out to play when the blocks are all sewn together.  You really do get a chain effect with the corner units and sashing diamonds!!   And you know how I just love to design quilts with chains hidden in them ;)

And once again, I am so thankful to my amazing MIL Barbara.   Barbara is just helping with so much  quilting and piecing while I continue to get caught up with so many other projects :)  And how adorable is her quilting on this one!!!  She quilted echoed butterflies just floating across the quilt top.   Just so charming!!!

And yes, the  Crossing Paths Pattern  has multiple size options, so you can make whatever size you like. This is the picnic size, but you can make it from a baby size all the way to a queen/king size ;)  And like I said, it really is great for all levels of expertise, and is truly a fun quilt to make!!

And that is my Crossing Paths Quilt! I hope you have enjoyed this post and consider making your own Crossing Paths Quilt!!! And if you do, I would love to see it! You can share your projects with me on social media with the hashtags  #happyquiltingwithmc and #crossingpathsquilt and tagging @happyquiltingmc or email me a picture at happyquiltingmelissa@gmail.com. I can't wait to see your Crossing Paths Quilts!!

Thank you so much for popping by in today!!  I just love getting to share quilts with you all!!   And also, a huge thank you to my wonderful friends at Poppie Cotton for always creating such gorgeous fabrics for us to create with!!!

I hope you have a very Happy Quilting Day!!!
