Summer Breeze Quilt

Note - Just in case you are wondering, Terrific Tuesday Giveaway Day is coming, it will just be posted a little later today :)

I am super excited to get to share a new quilt finish today!!!   A little while ago I was asked but my friends at Fat Quarter Shop if I wanted to try out one of their new patterns.  And of course, I fell in love with it the second I saw it.  How could you not, I mean, how fun is this new Summer Breeze Quilt!!!!

The second I saw this quilt design, I knew I wanted to use my Grand Canal Fat Quarter Bundle that I picked up at Sample Spree during Quilt Market.   I just love Kate's gorgeous colors and prints and they are just stunning in this fantastic design!!

And what a fun pattern it was to make up!!!  I had so much fun with all of the angles and points, and playing with triangles.  I realized while making this quilt that I don't piece near enough with triangles, they just give you so many possibilities and I  really enjoyed seeing the design come together.

To make the triangles we used a Kaleidoscope Ruler and you cut them out of strip piecing so that really speeds things up.  Then once your blocks are sewn together, you use an 8 1/2" square ruler to trim them up.   And do you notice that new mat I am cutting them on, EEEkkk!!!!  I have seen Kimberly from Fat Quarter Shop use this Matilda's Own Rotating Cutting Mat in so many of her videos and decided it would be the perfect Birthday Present last month.    I love it!!!!!   Oh my goodness, it just makes trimming so much fun!!!

And even though the quilt looks a little difficult, it really comes together quite easily when broken down.  And of course, Kimberly made it even easier with a fantastic You Tube tutorial that walks you through each step of making the quilt.

When it came time to quilt my own Summer Breeze quilt I decided on an all over Feathered Swirl.   I love how the soft curves in the quilting really complement all of the wonderful angels in the design.   This is one of the designs I have published in 180 Doodle Quilting Designs book and is really a favorite of mine ;)

And that is my Summer Breeze Quilt!!!   This is going to be a special gift for a special friend, and I can't wait to give it to her.  I just love being able to wrap people in quilty hugs ;)

Thanks for popping in today and be sure to pop on over to Fat Quarter Shop so you can see all about the  Summer Breeze quilt and be sure to check out all of these other bloggers beautiful Summer Breeze quilts!!!   Lots of  quilty eye candy ;)

  1. Your color and quilting design choices really do make this feel like a Summer Breeze. Maybe we can pretend it's summer just a tad longer?

  2. So beautiful! It looks so intricate and difficult, so hearing you say it goes together so well makes me feel more confident in trying it. I loved the pattern the first time I saw it, too. Triangles are just "scary" to me. I have a rotating mat, too, and love it. Thanks for sharing! It's on my bucket list of quilts now :).
