Floral Trails Quilt!!

I was so excited when Stephanie, from Fancy That Design House, asked if I could make a sample of her Floral Trails quilt ;)   Stephanie always has such beautiful fabrics and her quilt designs are always so fun!!!  I love her combination of designs in a quilt.  The Floral Trails quilt is made with Stephanie's  new Folk & Lore collection.   Isn't is just so gorgeous!!!

I just love all of Fancy That Design House fabrics, the colors and prints are always just so happy!!!   And The Panels that she designs are just gorgeous!!!   I love that this quilt was designed for the panel in Folk and Lore and really shows off the prints in such a fun way.   I think it is just so cool that Stephanie continues the stripes through the stars, it really gives it a trail feel ;)

And aren't these Folk and Lore prints just so pretty!!!   The colors are just so rich and the prints are simply gorgeous ;)   And like I said, the Panel is just stunning!!!  The quilt is Layer Cake Friendly  plus a few extra yardage cuts ;)  It finishes at 60" x 80" so it makes a great large lap size to cuddle in!!

And when it came time to quilt it, I wanted to add to the trail effect, so I did wavy horizontal lines across the quilt.   I I just love how it gives so much flow and texture to the design and it was nice and quick as well, double bonus!!   And you all know my favorite 402 Pearl was perfect for this quilt ;)

And  that is my Floral Trails quilt ;)  I am so happy that I got to make this quilt!!   And it went together super fast, a great weekend project for sure!!!

Thanks so much for popping in and sharing this finish with me today :)

I hope you all have a very Happy Quilting Day!!

Vintage Sunburst QAL - Month 8

It's Month 8 of the  Vintage Sunburst Quilt Along hosted by Fat Quarter Shop and I can not say how happy I am that I switched to chain piecing - paper piecing !!      It is just so much more productive for me ;)  So here is this month's share for the Vintage Sunburst Quilt

I finished up all of the "paper part" of the paper piecing this month with  the 12" Paper Piecing Pads blocks parts.   I am using the cool tones of the Blossom Basics for these larger blocks with the Warm Tones in the corners to make the secondary diamonds when the blocks are sewn together.

Next month my plan is to  sew these units into blocks .   And then in October I will be making the quilt top and November quilting it!!  And it will be all finished in time for Christmas ;)  The free pattern for this Quilt Along can be found right here ;)

And now that I have cut all of the "scraps" from the paper piecing, I am getting back to my  leaders and enders .   This is all next to my sewing machine and each time I finish some stitching I add another 2 of these to be stitched.   It is going to grow in no time at all, which is good because I am thinking about piecing this  into the backing of the quilt :)

So do you want to work on your paper piecing skills as well??  Pop over the the Vintage Sunburst Quilt Along page to get all of the details and join me in some paper piecing fun :)

Summer Breeze in Mushroom Blooms!!!

Today I am super excited to be sharing this adorable new Summer Breeze quilt with you!!!  This is a Picnic Size quilt and it uses one Layer Cake to make it.   I used the oh so cute Mushroom Blooms Collection by Jill and Rani for Poppie Cotton to make this quilts and isn't it just charming!!  ;)

And when I say adorable . . . I mean absolutely adorable!!  As soon as I saw this new line by Poppie Cotton I just knew I had to make a quilt with it.   As a child of the 80's I grew up with Strawberry Shortcake, and these little mushroom children are such a throwback to one of my favorite cartoons growing up.   I mean, just to cute for words!!!   And I love the happy bright colors paired in this line as well.   So ya, It was a must sew with ;)

Image from Modern Quilt Co.

And didn't it just fit the  Summer Breeze pattern so perfectly!!!    Summer Breeze is an Intermediate pattern because it does have an angled diagonal seam that you have to line up, but you will have it down after a block or two ;)  In fact, I just taught this class in June and had a first time quilter in my class and she knocked it out of the park!!!

I just love those happy petals blowing in the breeze!   And the secondary designs created when the blocks are sewn together are just awesome.   And there are extra borders added in on this one, but I think it just adds to the picnic feel of the quilt!!

And Barbara did the quilting and piecing on this one for me, isn't she just the best  :)  And her quilting is just oh so cute!!  She quilted loose feathers in the background and then figure 8's in the petals.   Just so fun. And I love how she left the center background unquilted so it just pops, so great ;)

Summer Breeze, like all of my Happy Quilting patterns, has multiple size options!!  Don't you just love being able to make the size you need without all the quilt math. Again, this is the picnic size, but you can make it from a baby size all the way to a king size ;)   And the pattern has one border, but like this, you can always add more if like.

And that is my newest Summer Breeze Quilt! I hope you have enjoyed this post and consider making your own Summer Breeze Quilt!!! And if you do, I would love to see it! You can share your projects with me on social media with the hashtags  #happyquiltingwithmc and #summerbreezequilt and tagging @happyquiltingmc or email me a picture at happyquiltingmelissa@gmail.com. I can't wait to see your Summer Breeze Quilts!!

Thank you so much for popping by and sharing this finish with me.  And a huge thank you to my wonderful friends at Poppie Cotton for creating such adorable fabrics and then letting me play with them!!!

I hope you have a very Happy Quilting Day!!!

July Sew Sampler and Celebrating 100!!!

Wow, can you believe it!!!  This is the 100th  Sew Sampler Box, isn't that just so cool :)  Now if only I could say I have all 100 projects completed, tee hee hee ;)    But just wow, I just love this amazing   Sew Sampler Box subscription and this July 100 Celebration box is just great!!! The theme for this month is Playful Summer and I can't wait to play with this quilty goodness :)

I mean, you know I love Charm Packs!!!!   And to get 3 Matching charm packs, so exciting!!!  While I like the Five Stas table runner, I am thinking I might want to use these 30's Playtime Charm Packs to make a Ring Around the Rosie's quilt from Charming Baby Quilts.   I just think the fabrics would fit its design so well!!

And the notions for this month, so great!!!   This Small Stitch Love Maker Bucket is just adorable, and I think it will be perfect to hold cards and notes I get from quilters!!!   And I am super excited about this Woven Star Foundation Pad, you know I just love Star quilts ;)    And the Blue Fabric Glue pen will come in handy when paper piecing the first piece of fabric to the template.  I have seen this done lots but never tried it and I am excited to give it a go ;)  And of course, now I can store it in the Mini Stash n Store.  I always love those little guys for keeping everything organized in my sewing room ;)

And I am also excited to share my newest  Pieceful Basket block.    I am just loving these blocks in their fun and happy Kona Lime Background, and  Milk and Honey bundle baskets.   And who doesn't love piecing little 1" finished squares, so cute!!!

And that is July, lucky 100,  Sew Sampler Box.

And now, school stars in a week, and life gets back to regular routine and maybe I can share August's  Box actually at the end of August ;)

Happy Quilting!!!
