  145. When I did student teaching in a 4th grade classroom (years ago), we studied about pioneer days. We took fabric strips and braided them. Then made rag rugs by hand sewing the braids in a coil. Everyone got a turn. Our finished rug was used in front of our rocking chair. We also made butter, fried corn cakes, strung apples to dry, and made corn husks dolls, A couple of months later, I made dry apple pie from the dried apples and took it to class.
