  12. I read a book about "Yarn Farming" once and it was amazing. They raised sheep for yarn production but it was a small scale, mom and pop type business so they kept samples from each fleece and dealt with like breeding for the right wool and such, crazy awesome. I would just like hanging out with the sheepies.

  58. Apparently gathering eggs is a favorite chore, but I'd rather do something in the house. Problem is, most everything you do on the farm is high volume. I like to can and make jellies and things, but a whole farm-size batch? No way. I enjoy collecting the mail, but with the box down on the road and bad weather not a rarity, I don't think I'll volunteer for that either. Everything you do on the farm is just so much work. I think I'd volunteer to be the old grannie in the rocker knitting socks.

  62. I did. I grew up on a farm in Apple Valley CA. We had both outside chores and inside chores. On the inside: I loved to help mom wash clothes and hang them on the line, can or own grown food, and sew (yes, this was one chore, sewing rips and lost buttons etc. I did sewing for fun at other times and mom taught me how to quilt) On the outside: feeding and watering the animals, brushing my horse and cow, riding my horse so she stayed in shape (we barrel raced) walking my cow so she learned my commands (we won first place in CA, NV AZ the work payed off) I enjoyed collecting eggs and feeding the chickens (not so much the cleaning though) I enjoyed keeping the pigs pens clean, but with sand from the desert it wasnt a difficult task. We had other chores also, but these were my favorites. quilting dash lady at comcast dot net
