My mini quilt contribution is called Quiltilicious!! It is a fun basic geometric design that has a lot of movement and an almost 3-D effect. I love how it turned out and had oh so much fun putting it together ;) it is just so fun to play with tiny half square triangles and 1 inch rectangles. Such great happy quilting times and it is so fun to finally be able to share it!!
For this hop, I thought it would be fun to share a fun little story about some of the inspiration behind the quilt. The first day I was ready to start pulling fabrics for colors I was totally overwhelmed. Of course, I could have done this quilt in any number of color combinations so I began making several piles of color combos trying to decide which way I wanted to go. In comes my sweet 5 year old daughter.
Kami asked me what I was doing making my sewing room so messy and I told her I was trying to pick colors for a new quilt. She insisted, (in her most matter of fact tone) that a perfect quilt would be made of Pink, Purple, Silver, and Gold because those are the favorite colors of Pinkalicious. And of course, Pinkalicious is her favorite and so those are her favorite colors as well. That would soon followed with how incredibly happy it would make her I used her favorite colors in this quilt. It was so adorable, I couldn't resist (although I did draw the line on adding gold ;) . And when it came time to name the quilt, Quiltilicious just seemed to fit ;)
I know you are just going to love this Fun-Size Quilts book. There are so many incredible mini's made by so many incredible designers. Seriously, I am so honored to be among these group of ladies. Here's a quick peek at all 19 of the Fun-Size Quilt designs :)

ReplyDeleteMini quilts are so fun to put up on the walls in my sewing room.
ReplyDeleteOne of our granddaughters has lived in our home since she was 4 months old and is now 2 1/2 yrs old. Because she spends so much time in my sewing room and with me, she copies me a lot. We have a new kitten that is a spitfire (yea that's a nice word for her haha) and I must say STOP IT to that cat about a million times a day. Also, because my hands are much weaker after both hands and wrists had surgery so I have a problem opening jars and have to ask for help because they're "stuck". And while talking I've always been used alot of facial expressions.
ReplyDeleteNo, this was not supposed to be about me, BUT, those things had to be said first to get to your requirement - My now 2 1/2 yr old granddaughter is like a MINI me because she's always telling my cat in NO uncertain terms (usually for absolutely no reason also which makes it even more funny) STOP IT! And anytime she has any problems doing things like stacking legos so they'll stay, opening the doors since she's still having some problems with that, she looks at anyone nearby and says STUCK! IS STUCK! And she looks just so serious when she says these things with her adorable little Mini me facial expressions she's also done so well to copy Grandma doing.
When my son, his fiancee and my granddaughter go to a doctor appt with Alexia or anywhere else people are always saying how animated she is and how adorable it is. Then they're always coming home to tell me about it. So yup. I've created a Mini me without trying. I'm just thankful she's not started copying the other words I use at that stinkpot kitten of ours. LOL
I already follow your blog via email, Bloglovin', and also via Facebook. Yep. I'm just shy of being able to be called a stalker I'm thinking. LOL
ReplyDeleteI like to do "mini" quilts in-between the larger quilts I do just to be able to make and finish something. When working on the larger quilts I get board and try not to start something new.
