More Happy Quilting Patterns with a New Look!!

Thank you so much for all of the pattern love you have shared with me!!!  I am so glad that you are loving the 3 new Happy Quilting patterns I have shared this week!! And by now, I am sure you have realized that these new patterns have a new look!!   And along with the three new patterns, 4 of my original Happy Quilting Patterns have also gotten a Make-over!!!  They are still filled with full color - wonderful illustrations to guide you along each step of the way but now have the benefit of 10 years of writting patterns :)

So why the change of look . . . Frist off, it was just time for an update.   Like I said, after 10 years of writting books and patterns, I have learned a lot and it was time to incorporate that into some of my first released patterns.   Also, I am now working on getting my patterns distributed through wholesale channels so that quilt shops everywhere can find them!!!   Super exciting, (and a little scary) but mostly exciting!!!   And yesterday, I was doing the happy dance when I flipped through Moda's newest catalog to find my Happy Quilting patterns illustrating some of their new fabrics.   This has been a behind the scenes project for a bit now, and I am so exited to see it in real life now!!!

And I will give you a hint of which pattern will be Re-Released next :)   It's in the final stages and ready to go off to the printer ;)  It's also going with a few other Re-Releases as well as a New Release too!!  So many things going on over here!!!

So ya, totally exciting!!!   I so wish I had time to "re-make" each of these quilts as I Re-Release the patterns . . . but as you can see, things are a little busy at Happy Quilting, tee hee hee.   But, I really wanted to make a new Summer Breeze.  This was my very first pattern, and it was pre-long arm, so it was due for an update ;) So here is Summer Breeze!!!

This version of Summer Breeze is made with the gorgeous Sunnyside Fabrics by Camille Roskelly!!!   As soon as this fabric was released, I knew it was the perfect fit for a new Summer Breeze, and you know I am all about those deep purples!!!   I actually have had the quilt done for a bit now, It just took a little longer to get all of the patterns ready to go ;)

I had so much fun custom quilting this version of Summer Breeze!!    I did some fun Wavy Orange peel that I echoed to add more texture in the "Petals" and then a little curly q in the sashing.  I love how it really brings out the secondary designs in the quilt.   And in the border I did a lovely big feather, so fun!!!

Summer Breeze is made with HST Units, Stitch and Flip Units, and No Waste Lattice Units.   It is a great skill builder as you learn to match up angled seams!   It really is such a fun quilt to make and is a stunning finish perfect for any occasion.  I want to make a Christmas Version next.  Wouldn't that be just so festive :)

And that is my new Summer Breeze quilt and Re-Released Pattern!!! Again, you still get all of the things you loved about Happy Quilting Patterns with this new Re-Releases and then some added technical writting goodness that I have picked up over the years.

So are you ready to get Happy Quilting???  Pop over to my Etsy Shop, to pick up your Patterns.   Again, all 7 new PDF Patterns are just $5.50, and the 7 new Paper Patterns are $7.00,  until October 2nd :)     Always good to save on shipping!!

Barn Star Sampler QAL - Month 9

It's Month 9 of the Barn Star Sampler Quilt Along and I am just so excited to share another set of blocks!!!  Thanks to Fat Quarter Shop' for hosting this awesome quilt along!! This is the last of the big blocks, and now we really will start to see the blocks add up, as next month we are making 5 different blocks :)     This month we are sharing Block 9 :)

My Barn Star Sampler will finish at 100" x 100" square, so this month I am actually making 3 blocks instead of the 2 like everyone else.  And I am just loving the blocks in their Rainbow of Ombre goodness!!!   This month's Block 9 is made . . .

in Orange

and Slate

and Yellow

I just love these Peony Star Blocks!!!  This month's colors had lots of contrast in them, and I think it just really makes these blocks pop (especially the orange!)  .  I just love how that flower block bursts into a star block, so cool!!!   Now I better get thinking about Month 10, because there are lots and lots of blocks to be made!!

I am just loving making the blocks in the Simply Jelly Rolls book !! I am using an Evermore Jelly Roll by Sweetfire Road .  And since my flowers were in pink and green, I decided to keep these blocks that are right next to the flowers in all gold.  I think it will really make them pop!!!   Two rows of blocks down, this is so fun!!!

Crossing Paths - New Happy Quilting Pattern!!!

I am super excited to share another new pattern and quilts today!!!   Here is Crossing Paths!!! This is another one that I taught at Garden of Quilts two weeks ago, and it was so great to watch everyone's blocks come together.  I can tell, this is going to be such a fun class to teach for the next little bit :)

The  Crossing Paths Pattern can be found in my Etsy Shop in both a Paper version as well as a PDF version.  And it is on Special for it's release with PDF Patterns at $5.50 and the Paper Patterns are $7.00!  The patterns are full color and the paper version is in book format.

Crossing Paths is such a fun quilt to make!  If you didn't notice, a lot of this quilt "floats" so there are only a few spots where you actually have to watch your points lining up, making it great for beginners, and experts will also have fun with it as well!!     The quilt is made with No Waste Flying Geese, Stitch and Flip Corners, Square in a Square Units, and basic piecing so it really comes together quick.  The cornerstones set the blocks off perfectly and make some fun secondary patterns as well ;)

This version of  Crossing Paths is made with Nutmeg by BasicGrey for Moda Fabrics! I just love these beautiful Fall colors and seasonal prints, and now this is finished just in time to welcome Fall!!!  And of course, the sky is the limit on which fabrics you make it from, it was so fun to see everyone's fabric choices for Garden of Quilts!!!  The quilt is Fat Quarter Friendly, so you can Grab a Bundle and get cutting!!!

I quilted this version of  Crossing Paths with something a little new.  I did my favorite loose feathers design, but rather then just doing them "all over" I did them in back and forth lines.   I think it turned out so cute, almost looks like ivy growing across the quilt!!   I just love it and will be quilting this design again for sure ;)

And after I got the big Queen/King quilted . . . I just couldn't help but make a Baby size  Crossing Paths !!!   I used low volume fat quarters from Songbook a New Page  and set them off on the beautiful Eggplant solid.   Isn't that just so fun, and a great way to use up some more Low Volumes!!!

I quilted the baby size in an all over wavy crosshatch design.  It was a little crazy to figure out at first how to sew these long diagonal lines on the longarm, but I am super happy with how it turned out.   It just adds so much texture!!!

And if you are like me, and want to make multiple sizes, you can find the sizes that work just right for you!!!  The pattern has 5 size options :  Baby, Lap, Twin, Picnic, and Queen/King.  So now you can make all the sizes :)

And that is my new  Crossing Paths quilts and Pattern!!!  And yes, my Happy Quilting Patterns have a new look, but they are still filled with full color - wonderful illustrations to guide you along each step of the way.   You are going to have so much fun making these quilts ;)  And of course,  if you have any questions at all, please don't hesitate to reach out to me ;)

Stacked Squares - New Happy Quilting Pattern!!!

Today I am so happy to be sharing another one of my new patterns this week!!!     Here is Stacked Squares !!! This was originally a tutorial on the blog, but I was asked to teach in on a quilting cruise last month, so it needed to be written up into a pattern.   And now, we can all enjoy it with 7 size options as well!!!

The Stacked Squares Pattern can be found in my Etsy Shop in both a Paper version as well as a PDF version.  And it is on Special for it's release with PDF Patterns at $5.50 and the Paper Patterns listed at $7.00!  The patterns are full color and the paper version is in book format.

Stacked Squares  was designed to help me get control of my overwhelming low volume scrap drawer.  See, I make a lot of quilts with white backgrounds because it shows off the design!   But that means all of the beautiful Low Volumes in the line can't be used to piece the block or they blend away into the background to much.  Hence, an overflowing Low Volume scrap drawer.   Do you find yourself in the same situation??  If so, Stacked Squares is the quilt for you!!!     Doesn't that low volume background in the criss cross pattern just create so much fun movement.   I just love it!!

I had so much fun digging through my print scraps as well!!   A helpful hint when making this quilt . . . Try to make sure your prints really "read" one color.  That way they don't blend into that super fun low volume background.  I picked Red, Navy, Aqua, Green, and Pink as my scrappy colors and then just dug through those color bin looking for scraps in those color parameters. And of course, I used scrap binding pieces to finish it off ;)

I quilted this version of Stacked Squares with an all over loose feather design.  I was just going for something fun and whimsical to match that fun and whimsical background!!   It was the perfect fit ;)

And like I mentioned . . . I taught this on a Quilting Cruise last month.   And for the cruise, I made a few extra "samples" :)   I made the "Cruise Kit" version, as well as a "Christmas Version".   I haven't quilted them yet, (Lighter in my suitcase as a flimsy :) and you know, as soon as I do, I will share them here.  I have to say, I am so excited to get the Christmas Version finished!!   I just love Christmas Quilts and I want this one on the couch for Christmas this year!!!

And like I said earlier . . . the fun part of having this design in a pattern is all of the size options!!!  I just love doing quilt math ;)   You will find 7 size options in this pattern:  Baby, Child,  Lap, Twin, Picnic, Queen and King.  The fabric requirements are in both Scrap Yardage and/or Fat Quarters.   And I know, cutting scraps can take a little longer so I designed most of the quilt around 2 1/2".  That way it works for leftover Jelly Roll Strips as well, or you can use an AccuQuilt 2 1/2" Strip Die to really speed things up.  (My AccuQuilt is my favorite tool when working with Scraps!!!)

And that is my new Stacked Squares quilt and Pattern!!!  And yes, my Happy Quilting Patterns have a new look, but they are still filled with full color - wonderful illustrations to guide you along each step of the way.   You are going to have so much fun making this quilt and get some major scrap busting done at the same time . . . Double Bonus!!!  And of course,  if you have any questions at all, please don't hesitate to reach out to me ;)
