It's Month 6 of the Barn Star Sampler Quilt Along and I am just so excited to share another set of blocks!!!  Thanks to Fat Quarter Shop' for hosting this awesome quilt along!!  I am having so much fun sewing along on these amazing star blocks :)     On the last Friday of each month I will be sharing my new Barn Star Sampler blocks, and this month we are sharing Block 6 :)

My Barn Star Sampler will finish at 100" x 100" square, so sometimes I will be making more blocks, but this month, it's just 2 like everyone else.  And I am just loving the blocks in their Rainbow of Ombre goodness!!!   This month's Block 6 is made . . .

in Lime

and Teal

I just love these Moroccan Star Blocks!!!  This month's colors had lots of contrast in them, and I think it just really makes these blocks pop.  And I love that this star has a whole different look then the ones we have made so far!!  Now I get to look forward to Month 7 :)

So are you quilting along with all of the star fun as well??  Be sure to share all of your Barn Star Sampler progress on social media with #BarnStarSamplerqal and check out Fat Quarter Shops post for Block 6  for lots more Barn Star Inspiration!!!

More Christmas Quilts!!

I always love making Christmas quilts and I am excited to share 2 new quilts that I made late last year as a little secret sewing for my good friends at Moda Fabrics ;)      So let's start with the first quilt, Juniper Berries by Chelsi Stratton Designs!!!

I just love how this quilt has a chain feel to it.  I always love quilts with chains, and when you tie in blocks, all the better!!! The happy Christmas prints and colors are just so festive and I love the pop of the pink and greys in there along with the reds and greens!!  I always love Sherri and Chelsi Fabrics, and this Favorite Things Fabric line is just such a classic Christmas collection!!!

The piecing in this quilt went super fast with large blocks and some strip piecing :)   And I just love tiny stars, aren't they just so cute!!!  The quilt finishes at 65" x 80" so it is a great size to snuggle up in and have displayed each Christmas.

And when it came time to quilt it, I decided to try and really highlight those diagonal chains!!  So I quilted a diagonal ribbon candy through the small stars and 9 patches and then an all over of swirls and echoed paisley through the blocks.  I just love the way it added so much texture to the quilt!!! .  Good ol' 402 Pearl blended perfectly in all of these light and dark colors, my go to for the win every time!!

And this quilt is visiting quilt shops across the country now.   So the snuggling for me will have to wait , but you don't have to wait!!!  Favorite Things Fabrics are shipping now and Fat Quarter Shop has a Juniper Berries Quilt Kit available.  Just in time for you to do a little Christmas in July sewing :)

And that leads us to the second Christmas Quilt . . . the No Place Like Home Quilt.   And isn't this just gorgeous!!!  I love that when I am sewing for Moda I get to sew so many different styles of quilts ;)   This is for sure a more Classic Christmas quilt, and I just love the beautiful panels that are tied into the design.

Deb Strain is such an amazing artist and her Holidays at Home Fabric Line just shows it off.  I love all of the stunning woodland prints, and the gingham is the perfect basic to round it all out.   Oh, and there are red prints in the line, but they were not used in this quilt design, but don't you just love how that makes the red Cardinal in the panel just pop, so perfect!!!

I really enjoyed piecing this quilt.   And It went together super fast as well, as the blocks are pretty large and don't need a whole lot of pieces.   And don't you love how the black pieced gingham bows just tie into the center panel again.  Just such a great quilt design!!

And when it came time to quilt it, I just decided on an all over echoed paisleys and swirls.  I just love how much texture it adds to the quilt and these designs give me a Christmas feel every time!!  And you know, I used  402 Pearl again, my favorite!!!

And this quilt kit is so popular, it is just flying out of shops!!!   I found a few kits still on Etsy, or you can check your local quilt shop for one!!!   It is worth tracking one down!!  This quilt is a joy to make and finishes at 55" x 63" so it will be perfect to display each Christmas!!!   There truly is No Place Like Home for the Holidays!!!

And that is it for my Christmas Quilt this Summer ;)  I truly look forward to making these quilts each year, and it is always a joy to make them for my friends at Moda because Secret Sewing means I am actually making them around Christmas time!!!   Sew fun ;)

And just a random question before I sign off  . . . How many Christmas Quilts have you made??   To be honest, I have lost count, but I will just keep making them.  They are my favorite gift to give ;)

I hope you all have a very Happy Quilting Day!!

He's Home!!!!

So things have been a little quiet around here lately.   But that is a great thing, because I have been busy spending time with Family as we welcome home our Son!!!!  You might recall, but our son has been in Germany for the last 2 years serving a Mission for  The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  We were gathered in the Cedar Airport 2 years ago with tear filled goodbyes, and last week, we got to gather again for tear filled Welcome Home's!!!

It is so good to be all together again!!!   We are so proud of Spencer and all he did to serve the people of Germany while he was away.     I am going to cherish these next few weeks and make the most of us all being together!!!   Both Spencer and Jessi will be moving out at the end of the summer to attend University, but at least they will still be close by ;)

So if things are a little slow, just know I am taking full advantage of this precious time.

Happy Quilting!!!

Happy 20th Birthday Fat Quarter Shop!!!!

I know that we all love Fat Quarter Shop!!!   Well they are celebrating their 20th Birthday by sharing the quilting love with all of us!!!!   Right now, you can save up to 60% off on tons of selected quilting items.   My cart has already been filled and checked out . . . and while surfing through the Blowout Items, I found lots of my favorite fabrics I have used over the past year to make some favorite quilts!!  So I wanted to share them with you so you could make matching quilts as well!!!

I shared 2 Charming Baby Quilts made in Nice Ice Baby back in January of 2022.  I absolutely fell in love with this line to make adorable Baby Boy quilts!!!  It is harder to come by fabrics that read "all boy" but these prints were perfect!!!   And the Fat Quarter Bundle of Nice Ice Baby is on sale for $32.49 making it  $1.55 per FQ!!!   And with a whole bundle, you can make multiple Charming Baby Quilts . . . just like I am planning to do, oh yes, this bundle is already making it's way to me ;)

I fell in love with the beautiful prints the the Harmony Fabric Line when I made the Dutch Days quilt for my Fast & Fun Lap Quilts Book.   I just love the the colors remind me of gorgeous tulip fields.   And you know I just can't pass up a purple print!!!!      And these Fat Quarters are also on sale for $1.55 per FQ, such a great sale!!!   And with a whole bundle, you can make essentially 3 Fast & Fun Lap Quilts, by cutting 2 LC squares and 4 CP squares!!!

And speaking of making Fast & Fun Lap Quilts . . . The Meander Layer Cake I used to make the Keystone Corners quilt in the book is on sale for $23.64!!   And just like me, you can pull out all of the novelty prints for the center snowball blocks.   This for sure has a more "Manly" feel, which just like All Boy, is hard to find, so you might want to jump on this for a man cave ;)

Or, you can make the neutral version of Keystone Corners Quilt from my Fast & Fun Lap Quilts book, that I made.    I just love this Fluer Noire 10" Stacker and it was just perfect for making my Neutral Keystone Corners quilt!!!   Especially paired with the Beach solid background fabric.   It is just a stunner!!!  And you can get this 10" Stacker for just $21.99.  I am so loving this Birthday Bash!!

And another pretty that I scooped up in my cart!!!   I have loved this Fable Fabric ever since I made my Petal Pop pattern in it and have wanted to make a Fast & Fun Lap Quilts with it.  Lucky for me, the 10" stacker is on sale for just $19.99.  In my cart and on it's way!!!   Now I just have to decide which Fast & Fun Lap Quilt I am going to make!!!

And there was so much love for my Sugar Pop N Change Free PDF Pattern I shared back in November  I used a With a Flourish Rolie Polie by Simple Simon and Company.  The Rolie Polies are available but not "on sale", but you can still make the "coins" from 5" Stackers that are on sale for $5.99!!!   You can get 84 "coins" per 5" stacker, so you would need 3 stackers for the baby size, 5 stackers for the lap size, 7 stackers for the picnic size, 8 stackers for the twin size, 9 stackers for the queen size, and 13 stackers for the king size.

And finally, I just can't resist a good ombre project!!!  I have made several ombre projects over the years in just about every  V & Co. Ombre Fabric Release . . . but somehow I missed the Ombre Woven.  So ya, I couldn't help but add this little Northern Lights Quilt Kit into my cart!!   Can't wait to make it up ;)

So ya . . . Lots of Super Fun Shopping Celebrating Fat Quarter Shop's 20th Birthday !!  Are you going to be making any of these quilts I have shared today??  If so I would love to see them :)  You can share your quilt with me on social media using hashtag #happyquiltingwithmc and tagging @happyquiltingmc or email me a picture at happyquiltingmelissa@gmail.com. I can't wait to see your quilts!!!

Thanks for joining me for this PSA for Fabric Collectors Anonymous :)

Happy Quilting!!!

Heartfelt Quilt and Free PDF Pattern!!

Today, I am thrilled to be sharing this brand new Heartfelt quilt as well as a Free PDF Pattern for it!!! This quilt features  Heartfelt fabrics by Gerri Robinson. I loved the name and it fit the quilt design so well, I just stuck with it!!! I just love all of the beautiful prints and the gorgeous colors of ruby, cream, rose, and taupe in this line! It truly would make the sweetest gift for any wedding or for someone special in your life.

Heartfelt  is made with 3 Charm Packs/5" Stackers.  All you need is 3 and a little background and binding and you are set to get going in no time flat!!!   And I love that the 3 Heartfelt 5" Stackers allow you to get super scrappy hearts that are just to cute. And  the White on White Floret for the background is the perfect match to go with these beautiful floral prints!!! And whichever print you choose for a binding, will also be your center heart, so I went with the Ruby Ditsy Print so it would really pop ;)

I had so much fun designing this Heartfelt quilt. I knew I wanted to do a heart design of some sort. And I loved the heart layout as soon as I was done, but adding in the patchwork just put it over the top!! This is made with simple patchwork and a few Half Square Triangles and Stitch and Flip squares . . . So it really does go together super quick!

The Heartfelt quilt is lap Size and finishes at 60" x 60". And as I mentioned, there is a free PDF Download of this pattern, so you can make your own!!! To get the FREE PDF Heartfelt Pattern Download, just click here ;)

When it came time to quilt mine I knew I wanted to keep with the beautiful floral theme. I don't know how to free motion quilt flowers very well, but I figured feathered swirls would be the next closest thing. I love all of the movement it gives, especially in the negative space. It will be just perfect to snuggle up in.

And that is my Heartfelt Quilt !! I hope you have enjoyed this post. Oh, and if you make your own Heartfelt Quilt, I would love to see it!!! You can share your quilt with me on social media using hashtag #happyquiltingwithmc and tagging @happyquiltingmc or email me a picture at happyquiltingmelissa@gmail.com. I can't wait to see your Heartfelt quilts!!!

Thank you so much for popping in and sharing this finish with me!!!  I am just so excited with how it came together and you you will love it every bit as much as I do.

Have a Happy Quilting Day!!!

She's all Grown Up :)

This post is a little late, but I wanted to make sure it was "better late than never"  :)  I have shared quite a few sewing posts over the year featuring Jessi.    It started with her first time on a sewing machine,  then her first quilted gift.   Her first semi-independent project, to her first totally independent project and of course, her first Quilt Retreat!!! And more projects in-between and even a few WIP's still in progress (which means she is a true quilter, right ;)  . . .Well this last month, she finished her biggest WIP to date . . . Jessica Christine Corry Graduated!!!!

And she actually Graduated 4 times!!!! Way to go Jessi!!!  She graduated from Cedar High School as well as Success Academy.  Success Academy is a  Early College program, so he also graduated from Southern Utah  University, with an associates degree at the end of High School.   SUU is my Alma Mater, and it just makes my mama heart so happy to see my daughter graduate from my favorite school!  And we are so super proud that while she was doing all of this rigorous education,  she still made time for his beliefs, graduating from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Seminary Program.  4 Years and 4 Graduations, you amaze me Jessi!!!!

Jessica has worked so diligently for the last 4 years and we are just so very proud of her!!!   She did so well in school, she earned a scholarship to attend Southern Utah  University in the fall.   She will pursuing a bachelors and then plans to go to Medical School ;)   We know she can accomplish anything she dreams of we her "Can Do" attitude and hard Work Ethic.

So ya, it has been amazingly busy over here lately!!!   I am so glad that while Jessi is moving out at the end of summer to attend University, she won't be far away.   That way I still have my shopping, amazing baking,  morning Yahtzee playing, best helper ever buddy just a phone call away!!!

We love you Jessica and are so excited for your next big steps in life ;)

Thanks for sharing this more personal post today.  I am just so happy to share this huge milestone for our daughter and our family ;)   And I can say now from experience now, the emotional rollercoaster is just as Up and Down with the second as it was with the first ;)   Love this Girl!!!!
