  128. I have four sisters. Back in the '70's we made quilt tops with scraps of double knit that my mom had made us dresses out of. We never got the quilts put together with backing, batting, and binding but since they're double knit they don't fray or come apart. I keep mine in my car. It's been used for picnics, keeping dog hair off sofas, as a tarp, you name it. It hasn't faded and washes up just as easy as you please. It's my first "quilt" and has many memories sewn up into it. If probably cry for days if I ever lost it.

  138. Hi There Melissa,
Funny you should ask about picnic quilts...I am in the process of making one. as we speak! I am part of a block swap for Canadians on Facebook and my month was March. I designed a large block(18") based on a Courtyard Steps block, but it has a large 9-patch in the center instead of 1 single square. My colours were Aqua & Orange for the logs and solid white & lime green for the center 9-patch. I received 7 blocks and have made 7 more. I'm wanting to have a total of 16 blocks so it will be a nice-sized picnic quilt!
Hope I win the circle ruler as I too have been saving up old jeans for a similar quilt(one of many...LOL).
    Quilty Huggs,
    Jacqueline

We can sit on that and never feel the bumps on the ground, it's so thick and heavy! It's a crazy quilt pattern embroidered by hand with red thread. It's getting a little shabby but we love it.
