Wandering Star in Flower Market!!

Today I get to share this beautiful new Wandering Star quilt finish with you featuring the oh so cute Flower Market Collection  by Elea Lutz for Poppie Cotton!!   Wandering Star is quickly becoming a favorite pattern here at Happy Quilting!!  I have been so happy to see all of your finishes emailed to me, and am super excited to share another version of it today!!!

This Wandering Star Quilt is so much fun to make and it is Fat Quarter Friendly so you can just grab a bundle and add your background fabric. Aren't the prints in this Flower Market Collection just so adorable!!  I love the soft colors, and the pops of vibrant reds :)  And you know I just wanted to make all of those pastels pop, and this lovely Fairway Dark Green Country Confetti did just the trick!!    It really keeps some of those super light prints from getting lost ;)

And while this might look a little difficult, Wandering Stars can be broken down into basic piecing units.  You will learn Stitch and Flip Corners, and large and small  No Waste Flying Geese making this quilt.   And as all of your points in the fabric are touching the same fabric, this is a pretty forgiving quilt when it comes to points!!

And I think the reason this design is quickly becoming a  favorite  is due to the interlocking blocks.   Yup, I know, it is hard to look at it and figure out where the block is, and where the sashing is.  That makes it so cool as the stars just dance across the quilt!!!  But trust me, it is much easier to put together than it looks!!    And again  I just love it in this fun dark green background . . . it always blows me away how much it changes up the quilt to go from a white background to something different.

Barbara did the quilting and piecing on this one.  Truly, it is so nice for us to get to work together on so many projects, it helps me keep up on everything I need to do on the computer end of things, while still getting to see so many of my patterns come to life is so many beautiful fabrics!!  And her quilting is just oh so cute!!  She quilted all of the negative space in echoed paisleys and the quilted curls in the stars.   This really makes the design pop in this quilt and adds so much amazing texture.  Love it!!

And like all of my Happy Quilting patterns, the the nice thing is, the  Wandering Star Pattern  has multiple size options, so you can make whatever size you like. This is the queen size, but you can make it from a baby size all the way to a king size ;)

And that is the new Wandering Star Quilt! I hope you have enjoyed this post and consider making your own  Wandering Star Quilt!!! And if you do, I would love to see them! You can share your projects with me on social media with the hashtags  #happyquiltingwithmc and #wanderingstarquilt and tagging @happyquiltingmc or email me a picture at happyquiltingmelissa@gmail.com. I can't wait to see your Wandering Star Quilts!!

Thank you so much for popping by and sharing this finish with me and thank you to my wonderful friends at Poppie Cotton for always letting me and mom play with their gorgeous fabrics!!!

I hope you have a very Happy Quilting Day!!!

$5 Pattern of the Month - Scraptastic Stars!!!

It's a new month and a new $5 Pattern of the Month here at Happy Quilting!!!  And September is  Scrapatastic Stars .    Because, September Scraps, right!!!  And it is just $5 all month long!!!

The  Scrapatastic Stars Pattern can be found in my Etsy Shop in both a Paper version as well as a PDF version and both versions will be marked down to $5.00 for the month September.   This is such a fun quilt to make and you all know I just love a good star quilt, and stars paired with scraps . . . double bonus!!!     It is rated for Experienced Beginners and is scrap or precut friendly.

Scrapatastic Stars has 5 size options.  And it is all about dividing up your scraps into color groupings.  What size quilt you make depends on how many color groupings you will need (aka how many blocks you will make ;)

And don't stress to much about grouping your colors.  I find it easiest to make one square for each color grouping and have those all those in a line in rainbow order.  Then I just pick up a scrap and figure which color it matches the best.  First choice tends to be the best :)    As you can see, having multiple "shades" in each color grouping keeps it fun!!

And yes, I even used scraps for my background fabric, so there are lots and lots of shades of white as well!!!   And once you are all cut, you are ready to start piecing your stars.   And I found this is a great Leader and Ender project.  Every one of my stars were made while working on other blocks.  So fun!!

And once you are done all of your stars, you just have the sashing left to complete the chain ;)  And it is all strip pieced so while it looks a little complex, it goes together really fast!!!

And that is my $5.00 Pattern of the Month!!!   September 2025 is all about the Scraptastis Stars Pattern!!!   You are going to have so much fun making these stars ;)   And of course,  if you have any questions at all, please don't hesitate to reach out to me ;)  And when you make your Scraptastis Stars Quilts I would love to see them!!!  You can email me a picture at happyquiltingmelissa@gmail.com or add it to social media with  #happyquiltingwithmc and #scraptasticstarsquilt ;)  I can't wait to see your Quilts!!!

August Sew Sampler!!!

Wow, It's already the end month!!!   And that means it's a new Sew Sampler Box arrives!!  This month's theme is Sewing Wild and It is so great!!!  Fabric, and Markers, and Rulers, oh my!!!

I am so excited for not 1, not 2, but 3 Among the Wildflower Charm Packs!!   I love the beauitful cool colors of these charms, and the whimsical leaves, and blossoms are just so happy!!  I think the Rain Lilies table runner is so cool with all of it's little triangle goodness, but I might be using these for a baby quilt.  I noticed the other day I am running short of my stash of baby quilt, especially boy ones, and these colors would make an adorable baby boy quilt!!

And the notions for this month are so cool!!  I love all of Creative Grids rulers, and this 4-in-1 Hexie Ruler is a super cool one. I can't wait to start cutting all the fun shapes you can make with this!!  And I love air erasable fabric pens for when I need to mark my quilts for some ruler quilting!  They are just so nice for a quick mark that only stays for a bit and then is gone with just the air ;)

And were are on to block 5 of this Flowering QAL!!  .  I am using  50 Years of Moda!!!  This month was all about Half Square triangles!!!  Lots and lots of them ;)  And I got a little creative in the center of the block when I ran out of the background fabric I had chosen.  Always fun when you are starting with random fabrics, but it is going to make it so fun and scrappy when it is all done!!    I am just loving these Flowering Blocks!!

And that is August Sew Sampler Box.  And the end of September will be here before we know it!!

Thanks for popping in again.

I hope you have a very Happy Quilting Day!!!

Leaves are Falling Quilt and Free Pattern!!

I am back today with another fun project featuring Happy Fall Days Fabrics by Kelsey Carlson and super happy news, this one has a Free PDF Pattern by my wonderful friends at  Riley Blake Designs!!  I just think this Leaves Are Falling quilt is so beautiful!!   Perfect for this autumn season :)

The  Leaves Are Falling quilt is yardage based so you just need a few prints and you are on your way.   And don't you just love that low volume print in the background!!  So fun :)    And that border print is just gorgeous, right!!  I always love a fun border print to show off the fabric and frame up all the piecing!   The quilt finishes at 60" x 60" so it is a great lap size!!

The  Leaves Are Falling quilt is made from Half Square Triangles and Stitch and Flip corners.  So it is great for experienced beginners and experts alike!!  And because each block is the same print layout, you can do some major chain piecing in this one and get it whipped up in no time!!

Once I had made up the quilt top, it went off to Riley Blake where they quilted it up with this gorgeous leaf design.  It really is fun to see what amazing things digital quilting can do, I would love to get to get this good with my free motion ;)  And yippee for yummy texture!!

And that is my Leaves Are Falling quilt!  And yes, I am still just so excited every time I see the beautiful photography of my quilts by the amazing team at Riley Blake!!  It just makes me want to snuggle up with a good book in front of the fire place ;)

I so enjoyed getting to make this Leaves Are Falling quilt and it has me wanting to make all the Fall Quilts!!!  Thanks for popping in to share this finish with me ;)

I hope you all have a very Happy Quilting Day!!
