Oh, I just love the way this turned out. I love that the design really lends itself to a vintage feel. The design was inspired by a tatting that I saw once and fell in love with. And this quilt is a monster. Coming in at 106" x 106" it will be perfect for my king size bed :) Can't wait for it to make it's way home and have some options for what decorates my bed :)
The pattern for this quilt can be found in this month's edition of McCall's Quick Quilts. And yes, it really is a quick quilt, even though it is such a large one. This quilt is made entirely of jelly rolls and big blocks, so yup, it really is quick :)
I used Mimi by Chez Moi for Moda Fabrics. I really think the soft tones and beautiful prints really added to the vintage feel that I was going for. Thank you again Moda for providing these beautiful Jelly Rolls for me. And because Moda provided earlier prints for me, you can actually still find Mimi in the stores. Yippee!!!
The quilting was done by an amazing gal here in Cedar City. Her name is Linda Walters. She quilted free motion feathers in the background and then curves on the petals with a flower in the center of each pieced flower. She added so much beauty and texture to the quilt with her amazing quilting. Thanks again Linda!!!
So that's Petal Pop. Ahh, I am just so excited!! Each time I am published it is like the first. I have a little perma grin all day :) I just can't help but smiling. And I am off to JoAnn's this morning where I will find the magazine in the shelf and do a little happy dance most likely. I tell you, it is hard not to run up to the cashier and be all "look, I made this". But I have restrained myself from going that far :)
But why am I going to JoAnn's??? Well, It's my birthday today and I am off to buy myself a new cutting mat. Mine has gorges on several of the cutting line from all the use it has taken. And, since it is my birthday, (like how I just tried to slide that in there) I want to do a little celebrating. So, leave me a comment on what is your favorite type of dessert to have on your birthday (mine is cheesecake) and I will draw 3 winners next Tuesday to send 4 patterns of their choice to :) Yippee!!!
Have a Happy Quilting Weekend.
I am linking up to Amanda's and Sarah's :)

It is essentially a pudding cake-flour and butter crust, whipped topping and cream cheese layer, chocolate pudding layer, whipped topping layer, with chocolate shavings or mini chocolate chips on top. I think I could eat half a pan at one sitting if I let myself!
ReplyDeleteLove you newest quilt. It's great how you get so much accomplished each day. Happy birthday to you. I love cheesecake too but with a November birthday, Nothing is quite so delicious as warm apple pie and ice cream.
ReplyDeleteI love all your patterns and I always follow along with your QAL's...you're a rockstar! I would so love to win these patterns so that I could make more of your fantastic quilts! I love anything that is caramel, chocolate, cream cheese, whipped cream, pudding, gooey.....bring it on!

ReplyDeleteThat's such a difficult question. I guess anything with no nuts/pb. I am extremely fond of tiramisu although any home made cake (and my kids are now old enough to make one....hint, hint....) is good! I love Cheesecake too. Wish I could have one slice of everything......mmm, there's an idea. When I was in college I worked in a french restaurant; we had a "sweet trolley" with about a dozen really decadent desserts. At least once an evening we had a customer ask for "a little bit of everything...." Ah, desserts. Happy Birthday and I hope you have a little something of your favourite too!
