Cute as a Button Quilt!!

It's another quilt share day!!  And today's quilt is Cute as a Button featuring the cutest panel ever from the Baby Girl Collection by Lori Whitlock.  And yes, she made a Baby Boy Collection as well ;)   I got to make this quilt for my wonderful friends at  Riley Blake Designs!!

And how cute are those hearts pieced in the corners :)  That is most of the piecing in this one besides adding some borders, so as you can guess, it comes together super fast!!  All you need to make this one is the adorable panel, girl version, or boy version, and a little bit of yardage from the collection!  You can find the free pattern for this quilt at Riley Blake . . .  The Girl Version here and the Boy Version here.    The quilt finishes at 52" x 60" so it is a great size to hang on the nursery wall or use as a tummy time quilt!

This Cute as a Button quilt is the perfect gift for a special little new one.   And even if you are super busy, you can whip this up for a baby shower in a day, and it is just so adorable!   It is great for beginners and experts alike!  And again, have I mentioned just how cute it is!!!

Once I had made up the quilt top, it went off to Riley Blake where they quilted it up with this adorable all over curly heart design.  Yippee for yummy texture to make it oh so cuddly.  Wouldn't this just be so cute with minky on the back!!

And if you have a special little one arriving . . . you can make your own Cute as a Button quilt too!!  There is a Cute as a Button Quilt Kit available now and it even comes in a cute keepsake box!!  And yes, there is also the Boy Version Kit available as well ;)    So fun!

And that is my Cute as a Button Quilt!  I just love the pictures the team at Riley Blake takes!!  The sunset in these pics is just amazing!!

Thanks for joining me today and sharing in this new finish with me.  I actually got to see this finished quilt  at Garden of Quilts ,   Just so fun!!!   Thanks for popping in today ;)

I hope you all have a very Happy Quilting Day!!

$5 Pattern of the Month - Desert Rose!!!

It's a new month and a new $5 Pattern of the Month here at Happy Quilting!!!  And October is all about Desert Rose.  And it is just $5 all month long!!!

The  Desert Rose Pattern can be found in my Etsy Shop in both a Paper version as well as a PDF version and both versions will be marked down to $5.00 for the month October.   This is such a fun quilt to make and is a great technique builder for No Waste Flying Geese and Half Square Triangles.  It is rated Intermediate and is Fat Quarter friendly.

Desert Rose  has 5 size options.   Each fat quarter will be placed in three different blocks, one in the center ring, one in the middle ring, and one in the outside ring of piecing!

And like I said, this one is all about building your technique on No Waste Flying Geese.  Each block has 16 flying geese in it, so you make 4 sets of No Waste Flying Geese for each block.  So lots of practice on getting them to perfection.   And because the blocks are on the large side, once your units are made, the quilt really comes together quickly!

And there is also a lot of negative space in this quilt, with the background weaving all through the block.  Because of this, I choose to leave the prints unquilted, and really do dense quilting in the background.  It just makes the piecing pop all the more!!

And again, because there is so much background, you can really play up your background fabric choice.  You can use a low volume with lots of pop, or even have fun with a colored background.  It really makes the piecing shine!!

And that is my $5.00 Pattern of the Month!!!   October 2025 is all about the Desert Rose Pattern!!!   You are going to have so much fun making this quilt ;)   And of course,  if you have any questions at all, please don't hesitate to reach out to me ;)  And when you make your Desert Rose Quilts I would love to see them!!!  You can email me a picture at happyquiltingmelissa@gmail.com or add it to social media with  #happyquiltingwithmc and #desertrosequilt ;)  I can't wait to see your Quilts!!!
