So as the class is next week, I figured I best get picking some fabrics. For the main part of the bag, I knew that I wanted to use some of my Joel Dewberry True Colors Damask print. I love the design and I love purple, couldn't be a better fit. But now, I have to decide on pocket accents.
Edit - You guys are the greatest , I was totally hung up on the Aviary and the yellow was just the wrong tone. So here are some new options. These are all from True Colors.
Grey Lodge Lattice???
Yellow Herringbone???
Mint Lodge Lattice????
I would use the yellows with gray and black without the purple. But the purple and gray is nice too. Just not that purple with those yellows. Cant wait to see what YOU decide!
ReplyDeleteHow funny, I was going to say the same thing!
ReplyDeleteThe contrast with the purple damask and the yellows seems a little off. They grey lodge lattice does look amazing though.have fun with your bag making!
ReplyDeleteGrey for sure!
ReplyDeleteNone of the above. I think you need to go back to the drawing board as they say.
ReplyDeleteGrey! This will be a fun bag!
ReplyDeleteLoving the gray lattice. Second choice is aqua. Yellow isn't working for me today. Thanks for letting us play ;-)

Although any of the combinations would work nicely, my personal favorite is the mint lodge combination.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely the grey lattice!!! The two fabrics look beautiful together and are very classy looking. You could use the bag with a casual jeans outfit or a dressier one.:)
ReplyDeleteI love the mint combo. The grey is too blah, the yellow is nice, but maybe too bright for the value of the purple fabric. Have fun!
ReplyDeleteI like the grey because it echos the pattern of the damask :)
ReplyDeleteThe mint looks fabulous! that's my choice!
ReplyDeleteFor me it depends on what you want to achieve... if you want a blending-accent you can pick grey... but for me accents need to be accents, so I would pick the yellow ;)
ReplyDeleteThe grey looks like the best combo to me. Happy bag making!!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely the mint. It stands out without being overbearing. :)
ReplyDeleteI vote grey as well. Although I must add that I liked the suggestion of using the grey and yellow together, even though you love the purple!
ReplyDeletePersonally, I would pick out the grey lattice. I think it looks amazing. But if you're looking for "pop"... I'm not so sure that this is the right yellow. The mint is closer to being a good pop of color. Ultimately, it's your bag and your choice.
ReplyDeleteMy choice would be the grey. As busy as the purple damask is, limiting the contrast to just one would be better.
ReplyDeleteOh my...I love them all! But I think my two favorites are the gray lattice and the mint.
ReplyDeleteIt seems we all think that the yellow is definitely out. If you want something subtle, use the grey. But if you want pop, use the mint. Truly, I'd love to see either a different grey (more the color of the medallion in the main fabric or a shade of mulberry similar to the larger of the two pinkish shapes and not the one in between the grey.
ReplyDeleteMint, it's unexpected!
ReplyDeleteI like the mint and then the grey!
ReplyDeleteA black and the grey lattice or a different muted yellow:))) cant wait to see the bag!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely like the grey!
ReplyDeleteI tend to agree with Rosebud, even though I don't like the mint either. I would be drawn more to one of the purples in the bag, or a lighter grey or even a black. Then again, you aren't seeing the colors on a computer screen and it's YOUR bag, not ours. Do what you like.
ReplyDeleteI like the gray best.
ReplyDeleteI'm voting grey!
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't choose any of them personally, but if I were to choose from these 3 it would be the grey. Go for it, even if they are both ogie patterns, you can still pull it off.
ReplyDeleteI love the mint
ReplyDeleteI like the grey!
ReplyDeleteJessica
I love the mint too!
ReplyDeleteLove the grey! Very elegant looking!
ReplyDeleteGrey for sure. It looks amazing with that purple.
ReplyDeleteGo for fun and do mint!
ReplyDeleteGrey, definitely not yellow or mint!
ReplyDeleteGrey:)
ReplyDeleteDefinitely the Grey! :)
ReplyDeleteI like the gray.
ReplyDeleteWell, I am going to sound in on this too lol... My personal choice would be the gray, because it will lend to a more classic look (which is usually what I end up liking). The yellow is WAY out of my comfort zone, not to mention is just looks odd next to the main print. The mint is ok, the more I look at it the more ok it seems to get lol. Just not something I would normally do, but it could be fun. The ultimate decision is yours - what are you feeling today?
ReplyDeleteThe gray is phenomenal. They look very very classy.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE making bags! Especially this one ( http://store.schlosserdesigns.com/product/zoe-messenger-bag-physical-pattern ) :) I have made it 4-ish times. 2 for me, 2 for friends and I taught a girl from church how to sew with it. In my experience, use a lighter fabric for the lining. Things are easier to find that way. Also, I love to open my bag and see fabric I really love or that is something that will make me smile. Like a little hedgehog on my interior pocket.
ReplyDeleteFor your bag, I like both the grey and the mint. The yellow color I like, but the pattern, to me, doesn't mesh with the other fabric.
Hope your class is tons of fun!
Grey is good in my book. Classy!
ReplyDeleteGrey.
ReplyDeleteMy vote is the grey! I think that would look fantastic. Also love the mint, but more for a lining than an outer pocket. This is going to be a great bag- can't wait to see the end result.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely the grey!! Can't wait to see the finished product!
