My favorite birthday party was one we had for my elementary aged son. It was summer and they all had water guns. They spent hours at water play outside (such an easy party to plan!) and came in soaked for cake and ice cream.

That's easy! Today's my birthday! LOL
ReplyDeleteActually my favorite birthday party was in 2008. I'd had tongue cancer surgery on May 7th, and came home on the 19th. I was still pretty weak, but my grandbabies wanted to have a party with the party hats and a cake. I will never forget how happy they were to celebrate with me, but they didn't really realize what a special birthday it was!

Growing up we didn't have birthday parties that weren't just for family. One year I convinced my mom to have a party for me with the neighbor kids. We had cake in the back yard, no presents or games, but I remember all the neighbor kids sitting at the picnic table enjoying cake. :)

ReplyDeleteMy favorite birthday was when I turned 6 and my brother turned 5. My mother baked a jack and Jill cake. It was the head and bodice of each. It was incredible. All my friends thought so too. Gosh, I haven't thought of this at all til now. I am 62 and can't remember yesterday but this question just flooded into my memory. I have to tell my mom now how wonderful that memory is still to me! Thanks
ReplyDeleteI follow Shabby Fabrics already. Love their site.

ReplyDeleteMy personal favorite was at a local amusement park, Enchanted Forest. So much fun! My favorite as a host was my mom's surprise party when she was 53 or 54. She was in town visiting me, and I had it at a local ice cream parlor, and her favorite cousin (who lived in the same town as I did) was there with my cousin's daughter and granddaugter, and some friends. My mom laughed so hard and so long at this party, I have a memorable photo of it as a keepsake. It was 43 or 44 years ago, so the photo means a lot to me!

ReplyDeleteEvery birthday is my favorite birthday. Growing older is a gift that comes with challenges, but I am delighted to celebrate each yearly milestone.
ReplyDeleteMy birthday is January 1st so I always had special New Years party favours to enjoy with my friends. The best time was when we had a humongous stainless steel bowl that we sat in and my brother spun us!!

ReplyDeleteNever had birthday party but each birthday my mother would bake me a cake or make me a blackberry cobbler. At precisely 4:30, the time of my birth, she would start singing Happy birthday baby and we would all sit at the kitchen table and blow out the candles or just start passing the bowls. Lie has always been amazing.

My favorite birthday party was when I was about 7. We got to decorate our own cupcakes. Since my birthday is near Halloween, we had candy corn and other Halloween goodies to decorate with. I pushed so many candy corns into my cupcake you couldn't see the top. And it tasted great! ljbisme at msn dot com

ReplyDeleteHmmm, well it wasnt really a party, it was just my husband, myself and our two kiddos. Well I guess we did make a party of it. Anyway, I had been wanting a bread machine for a while. And my husband went and got me one. The kids were 1 and 3. When I opened it up I started to cry. Oh goodness, that started our son (3) to cry which when our daughter (1) saw that she started to cry. And because they were crying I kept crying. My poor husband was having a tough time with the three of us crying. And the poor little dears had no idea what the problem was. Well when I was finally able to get under control, I was able to help get the kids under control. Phewww that was an emotional day all around quilting dash lady at comcast dot net

ReplyDeleteI was born on Mother’s Day, so as the first baby girl in the family with 3 boys, I’ve been told that my brothers all gave me pink flower for me birthday. Don’t really remember it, but I hear about it every year so it’s always a special time for me to have my brothers remember every year.
ReplyDeleteNot a good question to ask at the moment. My birthday was a couple days ago and hubby forgot! Guess it's understandable. We have only been together 39 years!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite are the birthday parties I had as a child - sweet memories.

ReplyDeleteA friend surprised me with a birthday party years and years ago. I don't usually like surprises or parties, and enjoy people in ones and twos, not a large group of people. (Introvert, here.) She planned a perfect small party with about 6 or 8 of us.
ReplyDeleteThank you for offering the giveaway.

ReplyDeleteMy favorite birthdays are work days. As our children get married and leave home, they all have big projects to work on and so do we! None of us need more stuff so our gifts to each other are labor days. The birthday girl or boy picks a project at their home that is too big for them to do by themselves and gathers the materials. The whole family gathers there to do a big work day and we all bring food for the birthday meal. It is a great time celebrating and working together. Examples of projects have been laying flooring, building porches, laying sod, building several bookcases for a library room, etc. We all love these birthday celebrations.

ReplyDeleteMy favorite birthday party was last year when I turned 60. I grew up in Denmark, so I don’t see my family very much. So for my birthday, I invited all of them to my sister’s beach house for a weekend. It was such a nice relaxing family time, and the weather could not have been better. Wish I could spend more time like that.

ReplyDeleteMy most memorable was a birthday during my middle school years. I had a few friends over for a little party. We sang, blew out candles and cut the cake for service... Except my eldest brother managed to push my face into the cake... When I came up, a piece was neatly stuck on my face. Mom was waiting to see my response before going after my brother. Fortunately for him, i started laughing. We still tease each other about it to this day.

ReplyDeleteMy one and only birthday party was when I was 5 years old. Both sets of grandparents came, as well as my favorite uncle (mom's brother) and my aunt (mom's sister). I remember that my uncle had bought me the coolest paper dolls. They were at least 12" tall. I also got roller skates! They were the kind that were adjustable and clamped onto your shoes.

ReplyDeleteMy favorite birthday party was one that I hosted. It was a surprise party for my mother's 76th birthday. She was in failing health, and was her last birthday with us. I had told her that I was coming to take her out to eat, but on the way, I had to stop at an event center to see some people. Of course, when we opened the door, it was her party. She was so surprised, she didn't even realize it was for her for awhile!! Great memories and great families make perfect birthdays!!
