ReplyDeleteMy Aunt Orlean that passed away several years ago is my hero. She always made sure my brothers and I had anything we needed if my mom and dad were having a hard time. She would send presents in the mail, and I can still remember how excited I'd get. She was a jewel.

ReplyDeleteMy sister-in-law - a nurse who travels to work in a hospital in California. She worked hard to become a nurse and even harder as a nurse. She is smart, caring and we are lucky and happy to have her in our family.

ReplyDeleteMy hero is my 91 year old mother. She was a farm/ranch wife, taught school for 30+ years, put hot meals (breakfast and dinner during the school year and 3 meals in summer) on the table every day, and always had a clean house. She also did a lot of canning and freezing of vegetables from my grandmother's garden, which would usually be ready about the time school started. I thought it was normal at the time, but now I have no idea how she did it all.

My dad was always my hero, he worked hard to always make sure we had everything we needed, and sometimes that meant working a lot of hours. He taught me so much and I miss him dearly!!!

ReplyDeleteHe got up one morning and went to school He loved school.
When he got there, there was a nazi soldier standing outside of his school and told him there was no more school.
My dad went home and got some jobs at food stores to deliver goods, and also did the accounting for a company. He did this to help feed his family
Then he was taken up in a razzia by the Nazis and taken as a POW. They make him work with a bunch of other POWs in a camp in northern Germany.
Anyway, he has a lot of amazing and some tragic stories. He is brilliant and wonderful. He is 97
Wow, those are incredible stories. I hope you have written them down--they are family history and world history, all the more meaningful because they were experienced by your own father.

ReplyDeleteMy Grandma Shaw is my hero. She was a humble, hardworking person who personified a Christian life. If she read this she would be shocked--she would say she wasn't a hero, just an ordinary person doing what everyone does. I try every day to be as good as she was, and every day leaves me striving to live up to her example.

But I do have three women about a decade older than me that I realized in the past few months have been mentors for me during different times of my life. They showed me by example how to care for myself, care for my family, care for others around me, care for my community, my nation, my world.

She has fought three bouts with Non-Hodgkins Lymphomia and never complained. she is a talented decorator and always worked as much as she could and is still a very busy worker. She is the first person in our large family to step in and take care of others. A real hero in my eyes.

ReplyDeleteMy mother is my hero, as is my father. They were always there when anyone needed them, whether they just needed a ride somewhere, or they needed a place to stay, they provided. And they never worried about where the money would come from that they used to help others. They knew that the Lord would always provide, and He did. Our door was always open, so much that people knew they could just walk in without even having to knock on the door. Mom passed away in 2002 and Dad passed away in 1998. I miss them both so much.
