Is there anything better than opening a box of Pressing Goodness!!! Why yes there is, opening 2 boxes of Pressing Goodness!!! This is now my Perfect Purple Pressing Pair and I am so excited to break them in ;) And ya know, since I press about 2 hours every evening, it shouldn't take long. Who knows, maybe I will even "Iron" my sweetheart's dress shirts that have been piled on the ironing board for a few weeks now ;)
In fact, I loved it so much, when I saw a purple version of the
TG1100 was released, I bought one and kept it in the box so that I would have a "back-up" iron. I figured it would be ready and waiting when the
Pink Oliso Pro started to give out. Well, the Pink one is still going strong, but I had a little motivation to pull out Purple Pro Plus today.
You see, a new little perfect pairing arrived in the mail yesterday!!! At my last retreat, I had a student using a brand new
Oliso Mini Project Iron. I gave it a try, and again, it was love at first Press ;) I never knew a mini travel iron could get so hot and steam so well. And I love that they added the "solemate" so you can keep it in the face down position, just like the big irons!!! (I can't even begin to explain how much not lifting irons anymore has saved my writs :) So ya, I just had to have one!!! This will now be my Travel Iron, and I can't wait to take it to my classes. It's just so great ;)
So now, the
Purple TG1100 will be my at home iron and I am sure it will get used daily. The
Pink Oliso Pro is going up the mountain to the cabin, and I am so glad that it gets a new home, and that I will have a great iron even when I am sewing up the mountain!! Oh, and in case you are wondering, Yes, my husband totally laughed at me when he found out I had a "back-up" iron just waiting to be opened for 2 years, and that I pulled it out not when I needed a Back-Up, but when I decided I wanted matching irons ;) I mean, who can pass up Purple!!!! (They also have Yellow, Pink, and Aqua if you prefer those colors, obviously, color is important to me :)

I leave my laundry pressing until I need to wear the clothes, but the funny think is I love to iron. When I prepare fabric for quilting the first step is ironing and starching-super relaxing! I love all the colors, but Aqua would be my choice.

ReplyDeleteI love to iron, and remember when I was a child my mother would let me iron my dad's handkerchiefs. Over the years, I have used so many different brands of irons, and I always took great care of them and only used distilled water for steam. In 2020, I finally gave in and pre-ordered my Oliso Pink Smart Iron. I do not have the smaller travel version of the Oliso and would love to win one.

The all cotton white dress shirt that my husband wore to some fancy outing we attended our first year of marriage has been washed, but is STILL waiting to be ironed!!! I found out early on that I do not know how to iron dress shirts -- seems I ADD more wrinkles then I remove. It was permanent press shirts after that. And these days I only press quilting fabric. By the way, purple is my FAVORITE color!

I have a fold down iron next to the washer and dryer so it’s handy and then everything is ready to wear when needed and no prep time has to be added to going out. I also iron a lot when a was younger. Does anyone else remember how we use to sprinkle clothes and then roll them up before ironing them?

ReplyDeleteIron is a four letter word! Other four letter words are considered R rated. I almost lump iron with them. I press every seam when sewing. Clothes? No way. I will use a squirt bottle and lightly dry certain items to release wrinkles. I love the natural wrinkled look of linen. Linen wrinkles as soon as you look at it anyway. Life is meant for joy, not ironing!

I’m retired and don’t need to iron clothes. The only ironing I do is when quilting or sewing. I think I would love to have the purple one. I have wanted to buy one of the Olisos but the reviews were not that great with many saying they only lasted a short time I was afraid to get one. To be fair, when they returned the iron, Oliso did replace the defective one. But that is a pain to have to return it. Then what do you use while you are waiting for the replacement? I have a Shark that I have been using for more 6 years now. When it dies I might be looking at the regular sized Oliso based on the reviews. That’s a lot of money for something that might not last very long.

The only thing I iron are my sheets. I pull them out of the dryer and iron them when they are warm. It seems to help get the wrinkles out better. I purposely look for clothes that don't need ironing! :)

Dress clothes are hung in the closet. If they have wrinkles when we get ready to wear them, we fluff them in the dryer. A stubborn wrinkle may get a quick press. I do press all of my quilting seams and would love to do that with an aqua Oliso!
ReplyDeleteI iron it jut before I need it if it really needs ironed. There is no pile. I hang clothes as soon as they are out of the dryer (no ironing!) Other laundry sits in the "clean" basket until I need the basket again - usually a week to a week and a half.

ReplyDeleteWhen my children were in junior high school I bought them each their own iron. My husband already had his. I have one for quilting, one for clothes. I grew up ironing sheets so I really know how to iron. We are retired so I basically don't have to iron very many clothes anymore, just for church. Funny when my children moved out they took their irons with them. I catch them quick when they come out of the dryer. Every time I open the freezer I expect to see clothes wrapped up, soaked in starch, ready to iron. I've been hoping I would get one of these mini irons but Santa wasn't listening.

ReplyDeleteI don't mind ironing once I get started. It is the getting started the takes FOREVER. I do my best to avoid buying clothes that need ironing. The clothes that do need ironing last forever, because I iron so infrequently that they get worn far less.

ReplyDeleteHmm, I leave my ironing way too long. My hubby has taken to shaking his shirts really hard, and calling them pressed!! If he worked in a office, I would send them out!!
ReplyDeleteActually, I love to iron. Even pillowcases! Shirts for hubby get ironed the week of washing. What a wonderful giveaway! And I love all the great colors for the iron.
ReplyDeleteI hang shirts up as they come out of the dryer-- they get ironed IF they get worn again.....!! :) My iron just gave out and I have always wanted to try an Oliso, perfect timing!!
ReplyDeleteI think I lost my original comment so here is a redo...I press on a need to wear basis. My husband is retired military so his superior pressing skills are used on his own clothes as I “just don’t do it correctly”!

ReplyDeleteI hang everything as it comes out of the dryer, just slightly damp, so no ironing here! My grandson tells me he loves the smell when I press my quilt pieces, though.

I've always loved the colors of their irons! I've used an Oliso in a sewing class, and since I was so used to standing one up, I kept forgetting that I didn't have to do that! LOL
I don't have an ironing pile. I hang everything up, and when I need it, I give it a quick press.
I do my ironing after it dries (after being hung while wet). I don't like ironing so much, so better just to get it out of the way! But with a purple fun iron, I might like it more!!!

ReplyDeleteI must truthfully say I no longer Iron, I simply hang everything on a hanger to "press" and if that doesn't work I wear it so the heat will hopefully add more wrinkles so it looks natural. I love these irons and would love a new one. Mine dies after several tumbles.

ReplyDeletei do my best to hang clothes us after drying, but those in the closet often need to be refreshed. Otherwise if hung wrinkled will let it hang until I have time to iron if I am not busy quilting...LOL

ReplyDeleteI'm retired and iron as needed most of my clothes are wash and wear so i use the iron for mostly to iron fabric for quilting.
ReplyDeleteI iron on Sunday afternoons, but not as frequently as when we worked. However, when we travel, I iron shirts and pants before we wear them. I learned that perfectly pressed clothes that are packed get super wrinkled. Why iron twice? The Oliso Mini Project Iron is a perfect travel iron not only for sewing, but for clothes. D. ReplyDeleteI rarely iron anything except when I am making quilts! I honestly can not remember the last thing I ironed. But I love pressing quilt pieces!
ReplyDeleteI only have one ironing board and it’s in the quilt room! So anything needing a press gets tossed on my ironing board. That way it gets ironed first so it gets out of my way for any quilting things need pressed! Love the Oliso! Been wanting to try it….pink would be nice!
ReplyDeleteI don't have piles of laundry to press... I press as I go. Total time suck, but it's a habit. I scored a full-sized Osilo iron for $10 - woohoo but would love to add a little mini to the mix!

ReplyDeleteI have loved to iron since I was a small child. My mother taught me back in the days of the large Coke bottle with the aluminum "sprinkler" topper. I ironed every day - be it fabric or clothes, so i don't have piles of ironing. What a nice giveaway - their color choices make ironing even more fun.
