Our Families Easter Miracle

I hope you don't mind If I get a little personal this morning and share our experience from yesterday.  It just seems so appropriate on this Easter morning.  Yesterday, while playing at the beach in San Diego for Spring Break we lost Kamryn, our sweet 5 year old.  It was a look away for 30 seconds and she was gone.   She was lost for just over 30 minutes and those were the worst 30 minutes of my life.

She was found way down the beach looking for us by the San Diego Life Guards.   I can not begin to express my thanks that she was returned to us with no harm.  I am so grateful to the San Diego Police Department and Life Guards for their diligent efforts to find her.  I was so incredibly touched by how many wonderful people saw our distress and stopped their vacation and began scouring the beach with us.  There are still so many wonderful people in this world.  I thank each and every one of them!!

Last night, when Kami said her prayers she thanked Jesus for helping her find her family.  I know that He was with her while she was lost and that he was watching over her and keeping her safe.  I am eternally grateful for that.   I know that His love was with us while we searched for her, keeping us calm and giving us hope. He is Hope!! Whatever your Religion or Belief, I hope that you have a Wonderful Easter Day spent with those you Love and that it will be filled with the Hope and Peace of Jesus.

  11. I know exactly how you felt. The same thing happened to us when my now grown son of 22 was lost on the beach when he was three. Eventually after nearly loosing my mind he was found making sandcastles with some other kids. So glad your daughter was found safe and sound.

  15. We lost my 4-year-old daughter on the beach 32 years ago, and I can still feel the panic and terror that exploded in me when I realized she was gone! I remember walking up and down the beach crying and pulling at my hair like a madwoman. My mom found her - like your daughter, amazingly far down the beach, so far actually that Mom had actually turned around thinking she couldn't have gotten that far. Christy saw her hat and ran after her calling out "Maw Maw!!!" Here I am crying just telling the story - all this time later. I am happy for you that your story turned out as happy as ours did. Hallelujah!!! It will be an Easter you will never forget!

  17. OhMy tearing up, I one time lost my 4 yr. old son in a busy department store at the mall, he was only missing for about 5-10 minutes he had wanted to ride the escalator down again and the police officer at the bottom stopped him, that was the most stressful time in my life and it was very short, I couldn't imagine 30 minutes, I even walked out of the department store with my hands full of unpaid merchandise in my unsettled mind.

  28. I'm praising God with you that your sweetie was found, unharmed. Parenting is such a HUGE responsibility and it can seem so overwhelming when we think of all the things that can go wrong... It's good to know that God sits on his throne of grace and mercy each and every moment of each and every day. God bless you all and Happy Easter!

  35. So thankful that you found Kami safe and unharmed! That is the worst part of being a parent - the heartwrenching that comes with the job... but I wouldn't trade it in for anything. I myself have 3 beautiful daughters, and a grand daughter who I adore. I don't see them nearly often enough, but they are the best things that ever happened to me. Happy Easter to you and your family Melissa!!

  43. Thanks for your wonderful message - I'm tearing up as I read it! So glad for you all that she is safe. Happy Easter to you all too! Our Easter was spent with a very upset almost-two-year-old grandson - he is not liking his new baby brother very much! Lots of prayers at our end. Our thanks have been sent because his mother (our daughter in law) has been saved from her pulmonary embolism too! I'll guess we'll all settle down eventually ;-P
