We don't have vacations. My husband is a construction worker - mechanic for machinery in winter. When he works over an hour away - he stays in a camper all week - coming home on the weekends, pending work. I take care of the animals on our farm, and everything I can do during the week. He helps me with the things I cannot do alone on weekends. It is a never ending job here - but we love it. It's our own world and we have lots of things we do. Thanks deanbren87@gmail.com

ReplyDeleteI took my kids (3-1/2, 8, and 13) to Disneyworld and Universal Studios, and met up with my twin sister and her family (her kids were 9 and 11-1/2) The first and only time for my sister and I. We went to the water park and it was chilly, We swam around and had a blast even though we had goosebumps the whole time. Funny thing is, you could tell everyone else was local, because they acted like it was a hot day. We were the only ones shivering. Still it was a stinking blast

ReplyDeleteWe went to Rexburg and toured the college campus and then went to Yellowstone. We saw Bald Eagles on their nests, buffalo on the road, elk, and just the most amazing scenery, along with so many wonderful hot pots and geysers!! ONe place that I would love to go someday though, would be the canyon lands that are right in your backyard! There were some amazing ancient indian dewllings near the entrance to one of the canyon parks that my roommate and I had a few minutes to see when we were leaving BYU and heading south. I just wish I could remember which Park it was! :-) I just looked on the map. It may have been at the entrance to Bryce Canyon, since we were on Hwy 89 on our way to Flagstaff. Good luck with your planning: I hope you find a wonderful place to go!! Hugs, H

We lived on a farm in the Mojave Dessert in CA and my dads brother and his wife lived in TN. One year TN had The World Fair. I dont remember what year. But I do remember there were only three of the five kids. Traveling by car was so fun. I read a lot in the car. We stopped to see many different and interesting things along the way. When we got to TN, we stayed at my uncles house. All of us went to The World Fair together. It was awesome. I had never seen so many people in one place before. To say intimidating was putting it mild. But we all made the best of it. We went for two days. Then Uncle Lourn and Aunt Lula showed us some of the area. WOW. Some of the churches there were stunning. On the way home, I again read. Aunt Lula gave me four books. And mom bought me two from the fair. Good thing, I have always been a fast reader. Yes, I will always remember that family time that was so special to all of us. quilting dash lady at comcast dot net

ReplyDeleteOur favorite vacation was when we headed East to PEI with the family on a shoestring budget. I remember when getting to PEI - and asking for accommodations in the price range we could afford - and saying "with a kitchenette please" - I really got a funny look, but they did find a beautiful place for us - and an attached restaurant where 'kids eat free' - we had 4 children :)! We had a wonderful holiday - and proof, that you can still have these adventures on a tight budget :)!

ReplyDeleteFavorite family vacation? Actually, 3 - the first was spending Christmas under banana trees in Queensland with my Australian host family, shortly before I was to return home
ReplyDeleteafter being there a year. It was bittersweet - I wanted to STAY, and my host family really worried that I'd ditch the flight! The second was years later - hubby & I took our 8 & 10 yr old kids to New York & Pennsylvania for a week. They packed for themselves (only 1 carry on allowed each), and we had a BLAST. Third was a 3 wk vacation that hubby & I took to Australia - spent a week up in Cairns, upper Queensland & Sydney and then 2 wks down in Melbourne with my host family. Wonderful memories!
