ReplyDeleteI finished a quilt for a friend one time and then gave it back to her. It was a disaster. She really didn't know what she was doing. Seams didn't match, what a mess but she loved it. Said it was the nicest gift she ever received. I learned a valuable lesson in friendship and love.

ReplyDeleteIt goes without saying that I give quilts and wall hangings to family and friends on special occasions. But, the quilt most filled with love and blessed was the quilt I made for my daughter when she was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. She had that quilt with her until the end of her journey last December. A week before Christmas. That quilt is now in our living room; a reminder of our love for each other.

ReplyDeleteProbably the most well received gift I ever gave was a new wedding band for my hubby. When we got married we were looking at some beautiful turks head style bands but they were out of our price range. Fast forward 13 years, the hubs was deployed to Iraq and I'm scratching my head trying to come up with an anniversary gift for him (our anniversary was shortly after he returned home) and lo, the latest catalogue came from the company that made the turks head rings. In all the years I've known him, the hubs has rarely been at a loss for words. He was when I handed him his new wedding band.

ReplyDeleteMy sister & I got together to give our parents a special present (a special trip) for their 50th wedding anniversary. But rather than just tell them about our present, we came up with a scavenger hunt with clues that they had to solve in order to figure out their present.
