Magnolia for SUU!!

It's time for another SUU Quilt Share in my favorite Red, White, and Black color combo!!! And this one is in the patteern  Magnolia by Chelsi Stratton Designs .  It is such a fun pattern to make, and the block comes together super quick since it is all large piecing.  Totally one of those quilts that you can make again and again!!

For this  Magnolia  Quilt you are basically doing a lot of stitch and flip, or snowball corners ;)  And there really aren't a whole lon of points to line up, just the ends of the center stars, and you have a beauitful block!!    Such a great design :)

And as always, an SUU quilt needs an SUU layered applique added to the corner of the quilt. The applique is the SUU Mascot, they are the Thunderbirds :)   And when it comes to a custom applique the sky is truly the limit.  It is such a fun way to personalize quilts!!   You can find the step by step tutorial here for layered applique :)   I have lost count of how many times I have made this particular applique, but I will say, I know make them three at a time so I can really streamline the process :)

When it came time to quilt this Magnolia  Quilt I decided on all over loose feather ;)  I just figured I wanted something to add texture that would quilt up fast, and this design is super fast!!    And of course, a red thread was perfect for this quilt.   And yes, the black prints have metallic gold, you know how I just love the shiny.  So fun!!!

And that is my SUU Magnolia  Quilt and it will be for an Alumni Fundrasing even next week!  The original quilt finishes at 74" x 74" and is 16 blocks, but I made mine a little smaller for a lap size, (3 x 4 layout)  so it is at a great size to take to the Game ;)  I just loved making this quilt and now, I am super excited to try out Chelsi's new Costal Girl Pattern that combines these beauitful Magnolia blocks and offsets them with mini Magnolia blocks, so great!!

Thanks so much for popping in for another quilt finish!!

I hope you all have a very Happy Quilting Day!
