Mansfield Park Gate Quilt!!

I was so excited when my good friends at Riley Blake Designs asked if I wanted to make this new Mansfield Park Gate Quilt Kit!!!  I mean, I love everything Jane Austen, so to have a Jane Austen at Home Fabric Collection,  how can you not get excited about that!!  This quilt was designed by Riley Blake and can I just say wow, talk about capturing the feel of the Regency period!!!

And yes, those flowers and the gate are all traditionally pieced.   And yes, it probably took longer to cut out all the pieces then it did to sew it all together, but it was so worth it!!!  I love intricate piecing, and the gate and flowers were filled with lots of tiny pieces.  So fun!!   And then once you have the center done, those borders whip together in no time at all.   I just love all of the variations in the borders.   It really finishes off the center so perfectly.

The quilt finishes at 60" x 60" so it is a perfect lap size quilt for a fan of Jane Austen :)   And I think it would also make a great wall decor.  It's just so pretty in all of its piecing goodness!  And the prints from this Jane Austen at Home Fabric Collection just make the quilt shine.  They are so pretty and soft and just perfect.

And when it came time to quilt it, I decided to do some fun custom quilting.  I can't help but do arches when I have such perfectly pieced squares in a grid.   And then some ribbon candy in the sashing and of course, more arches in the triangles.   And for the center, I did a wavy cross grid.  I wanted to add lots of movement, almost like the feel of vines growing on the gate.   I think it was a perfect fit and added so much yummy texture!!   And I love that I can always count on So Fine 402 Pearl to blend perfectly in all of these light and dark colors, my go to for the win every time!!

And this quilt is now going to be hanging at the Garden of Quilts.   I am so excited, I mean, a garden gate quilt should fit pretty good in 100 acres of gardens ;)    And if you love this quilts as much as I do, (and love some tiny piecing) you can make your own!!!  The Mansfield Park Gate Quilt Kits are now available, and they even come in a beautiful keepsake box!!   You are so going to love making this quilt!!!

And that is it for my Mansfield Park Gate Quilt :)  Thank you so much for popping in and sharing it with me ;)

I hope you all have a very Happy Quilting Day!!

August Sew Sampler!!

Ahh, school is back and I am loving the long days of sewing!!!   I am working on so many projects right now, and with my August  Sew Sampler Box arriving last month, I have another "to make" to add to the pile.  The theme for August was Fables of Fall and it is such an awesome box of quilty goodness!!!   I can't wait to use everything from this month in that Verbena quilt project!!

I love, love, love this Folk and Lore Fabrics from Fancy That Design House!!!  I got to make this Floral Trails quilt for Stephanie with these prints, and I can tell you, they are absolutely gorgeous!!   And I can't wait to make the Verbena Quilt pattern with it!!   I have some extra's from Floral Trails as well, so I might make Verbena bigger ;)

And I just love how Fat Quarter Shop always gives us just the notions we need!!!  You don't want to try to cut curves without a 28mm Roater Cutter, they make it soooo much easier!!!    I have 5 that I take with me when teaching my curved piecing classes, and maybe this one will be my Just for Me cutter!  (and side note, I have seen all of the brands in use throughout my classes and I can say, Olfa's is the best!!!)    And I am so excited to try out The Clammy!!!  I have heard so much about this ruler and am thrilled to give it a try ;)    And of course, A mechanical Pencil is always a must when sewing and designing, and this Sewline Pencil is just so cute!!

And a new month means another Pieceful Basket block.    I am at that point in the process where I am wondering if going outside the box was a great idea.  This Kona Lime Background is so bright.  But I will just keep pushing on because I love the Milk and Honey fabrics  and I really think it will all come together in the end.

And that is August Sew Sampler Box.

And can I just say, I am so excited that it is September!!!   I can start to feel Fall in the air and it is just making me so very Happy :)

Happy Quilting!!!

4 Patch Fun!!

So lately my Leaders and Enders have been making 4 Patches with leftovers from the adorable Hey Boo prints I used in this How They Shine Quilt.   I just love making 4 Patches, they are just so fun and fast and oh so cute!!!

And about a month ago, I turned my 4 Patches of leftover Favorite Things Christmas Prints from this quilt, into 16 Patches.   Which got me thinking, I should probably figure out what I am going to do with all of these Patches that keep growing into rather large piles.

So this morning, I remembered about the panels I had stuffed away in my cupboard ;)   The Hey Boo line comes with the cutest panel of "cute" Halloween Goodness!!!  I cut it up and realized quickly that some of those 4 patches will also need to be turned into 16 patches.  I figured out I have just enough patches and prints to do a 5 x 6 layout, a small border, and then a 4 patch border.   Oh, this is going to be so cute!!!  It's about this point where it stops being a leader-ender project and moves into the Just Make It pile.  So exciting!!!

And I also have some beautiful panel's left from Fancy That Design House's Christmas lines!!  I think they will be a perfect add to these Favorite Things by Sherri and Chelsi 16 patches.  The panels are a little larger than the patchwork, and I don't want to cut them down, so I am thinking an alternating patchwork and panel row layout.  Some sashing between the panels and this will be just the prettiest lap quilt for Christmas.   Yup, another project to add to the Just Make It list ;)

Isn't it fun how it starts as just simple 4 Patches and before you know it . . . it's a new quilt :)   That is my favorite thing about quilting, every little scrap can make something amazing!!   How about you . . . any 4 Patch fun going on in your sewing space???

Dear Peru

Well, as of yesterday, our Jessi has arrived in Peru!!!   She is serving an 18 month mission in the Peru Arequipa Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  We are so excited for her and so proud of this decision she has made to serve!!

And I thought saying goodbye might have been a little easier this time as we experienced this with our son 2 years ago, , , but nope!!!   It was just as hard and honestly, I think a little harder  as we knew what we were getting ourselves into this time.    This is us dropping her off at the Provo Missionary Training Center a few weeks ago.   Yup, no make-up left as we had all the emotions.

We are so very happy and excited for our Jessi girl, but it is just hard to let go.  I am so grateful that to get the first picture and to know that she is now in Peru, safe and sound, and so excited to get teaching.   So Dear Peru, please take care of our daughter.     She has been so excited to come and serve in your beautiful country.  I know that she is going to have so many wonderful experiences while serving in Peru!! And I am so excited that I get to chat with her each week  over zoom, thank heavens for technology!!   We love you so much Jessica!!!

And just so this post has some quilting in it . . .this is Jessi at her first quilt retreat!!   This was so much fun.  Love that this girl loves to sew still :)

Piece and Quilt Sampler QAL - Month 5

It's Month 5 of the  Piece and Quilt Sampler Quilt Along and I am just so excited to share my fifth set of blocks!!!  And there are so many fun blocks this month :)   Thanks to Fat Quarter Shop for hosting this awesome quilt along from the Celebrate with Quilts book!! And here is the month 5 finish!!

I am making my Piece and Quilt Sampler in a diagonal Rainbow of Ombre goodness. (see plan here)  I am just loving how the colors are split through some of the blocks.  It just adds so much variety to them.   So this month we started with four of the 9" Avenue blocks.  And truly, these took longer to cut out and lay out then they did to sew them together, but they are just so fun!!

And then, it was on to the 9" Maple Leaf block.   Where this one was all teal, but still needed 2 "color groupings" I tried to use light and dark teal to make the block stand out more.  I just love the way it turned out ;)  .

And last, but not least, we made a 9" and a 6" Texas Puzzle Block.   Again, I went for the light and dark prints to try and help make the block pop.   I think the pink one turned out so cute.   And the purple/blue one is just so fun and will look so cool in the quilt layout!!  I just can't wait to see this all come together!

So are you joining in the Piece and Quilt Fun???  It's going to be such a fun QAL!  Oh, and once you are done your blocks, Be sure to share your Piece and Quilt Sampler progress on social media with #PieceAndQuiltSamplerQAL :)  There is so much Piece and Quilt inspiration in that hashtag :)

And that's it for Month 5 - 4 of the 9" Avenue blocks, a 9" Maple Leaf block, and a 9" and 6" Texas Puzzle blocks in the Piece and Quilt Sampler Quilt Along!!!!

Thanks for popping in today ;)  Have a Happy Quilting Day!!
