September Sew Sampler!!

September is just about gone, and wow, did that month just fly by or what.  And with another month means another Sew Sampler Box :)   And what a fun box the September 2020 Sew Sampler box.  You know I just love it from the start with all of that pretty purple!!!  It is totally like it was made just for me ;)   And yes, there are lots of Hidden Gem's inside ;)

First I unboxed these beautiful Petite Balboa Fat Quarter Bundle, and oh my was I excited!!!!   These Balboa Fabrics by Sherri and Chelsi for Moda are just so pretty, I know because I have already used them to make another quilt ;)  And you know I love, love, love the purple in it!!!   And the exclusive Pack-and-Go Project Bag pattern, so on my list to make!!!  In fact, I didn't even put the fabric on the shelf, I grabbed a zipper, the pattern, and fabric, and placed it right in the project pile on my desk.  Here is hoping I can get going on this soon!!!

And next came the notions and they are purple!!!     I am so excited about this Silicone Applique Mat.  My ironing board covers for sure shows lots of little bits of Heat N Bond, and this mat keep them looking prettier ;)    And the Quilt Clips are so cool!!!  I most likely wont use them as I quilt on the long-arm, but what a great idea for quilters on their domestic machines.  I am sure I can find a good home for them.  And lastly, this adorable Sewing Life Tea Towel from Gingiber.  It will be finding a special place for it for sure!!

And last, but not least . . . a new box means a new Block!!   .This year we are working on the Greatest Hits Quilt and this block is Track 6  ;)   I am really getting excited to see these blocks come together, they are going to make such a great sampler quilt!!!   And I just love the muted happy colors in this block with that pop of yellow.  So fun!!!

And just a note, if you are wanting to get in on the new year of Sew Sampler boxes you have to get in line.  There is currently a waiting list as the box subscription is full.   But hopefully the wait isn't to long.  (I have been told new spots open up each week!!!)

And that is the September Sew Sampler Box from Fat Quarter Shop :)  I just love this Subscription Box!!

I hope you all have a very Happy Quilting Day . . . Let's make this a great week!!!

Starstruck Quilt Along Finish!!!

Well, I made it in less than a year . . . not my longest Work in Progress ;)  This is my Starstuck Quilt Along quilt and I am so excited to share it all finished today!!!!  I finished the quilt top back when we were doing the Quilt Along, late last year, but it has been sitting waiting to be be quilted and bound and I am just thrilled that it made it back to the top of the pile and is now all done and oh so happy!!!!

Just in case you are new friend visiting, the Starstruck Quilt Along was my 2019 Quilt Along.  I host one every year.    Each of the posts for the Quilt-A-Long will always be on my blog.  You can follow these links to walk you through each step,  week-by-week on how to make a Starstruck Quilt , just in case you want to make your own.  And this one was fun as we made it medallion style, starting in the center and moving out, so you can stop at any point and make your quilt just the size you need ;)

And this quilt really is a fun one to piece!!!  Of course, it always makes it more fun to be piecing along with lots of quilty friends, but you can still make your own.  The quilt has a lot of basic blocks and great techniques on making them.   And of course, all of the tutorials are step by step with full color pictures making it super easy to follow along.   And isn't it just so fun the way it all comes together ;)  So excited that I can finally say I have made a Medallion quilt!!!!

And I just love these happy, bright fabrics  :)  I used a Fat Quarter Bundle of  Harper's Garden by Sherri and Chelsi for Moda.  I love how the fabrics all read as one color, and yet have so much fun design in them.   And the colors are just so cheerful!!! This king size stunner is for sure gong straight on the bed to be enjoyed :)

When it came time to quilt, I decided I just needed to do something fast and quick.  It had sat around way to long already, and I knew if I started overthinking the quilting, it would go right back into the "to be quilted" pile again.  So I did my favorite loose feather design.  I just love all of the yummy flowy texture it gives the quilt!!!   So pretty ;)

And that is my Starstruck Quilt Along Quilt!!!   And I am so, so, so happy that I can now enjoy it as a finished quilt!!   Thanks again to everyone that quilted along with me, as that is what will always be the most special part of this quilt!!!  It truly is a wonderful reminder of so many great friends and each one of their beautiful quilts!!!!

I hope you all have a very Happy Quilting Weekend!!

Cutting New Projects

You all know I just love starting new projects!!  I actually really love cutting, I know, a little crazy, but I just love seeing stacks of pretty fabrics.  I even put a brand new blade in my rotary cutter before starting, which is always so great!!!  I always wonder why I waited so long to change it ;)

My first project is using my good friend Pat Sloan's new Morrison Park fabric that should be available in stores very soon.   I have wanted to make a Decades Past quilt as a 2 color quilt for sometime and I just think these beautiful reds, golds, and cremes  from her line just jumped out at me.  Aren't they just perfect for fall!!!  I will be sharing this quilt soon and I can't wait!!!

My second project was a different kind of cutting.  No rotary cutter here, just my favorite pair of scissors.   I got a call my friends at school, and it's that time of year again.  Another SUU Alma Mater quilt needed for raising funds.  (I just love that my quilting can help my school!!!)     So that means, Layered Applique Logo time!!!   I have a tutorial here for how I do my layered applique just in case you want to make your own.  It really is much easier than it looks.   I just need to stay stitch this and then add it to a quilt.

The only trouble is, deciding which quilt to attach it to.   I make a lot of Red, White, and Black quilts so I always have some ready when needed.   So what do you think . . . Should I use the Nine Patch Fun quilt, the Magic Trick quilt, or the Grandstand quilt.   All are so great in their Red, White, and Black goodness!!!  I know I have said it before, but I am so glad my Alma Mater has such a great color scheme!!!

And finally, I cut out a thirds project, but it is one of those Secret Sewing Projects.  I can't even show the fabric stacks because they are still secret too.  But I am telling you, lots and lots of pretty stacks!!!

I will be back tomorrow and I am planning to share a long awaited finish, just need to finish a bit of the binding and get pictures.  So excited!!!

I hope you all have a Happy Quilting Day :)

National Sew a Jelly Roll Day is Tomorrow!!

Tomorrow is National Sew a Jelly Roll Day!!!!   Do you have your project picked out??  Here is some last minute ideas if you need a little Jelly Roll Inspiration :)

Petal Pop is probably my most popular Jelly Roll friendly pattern.  I have taught this class so many times, and it is always a favorite among students.   It would be a great one to sew up tomorrow, and it comes in multiple size options, so you don't have to make this big King size ;)

In fact, I made this Baby size version a few years back on National Sew a Jelly Roll day.   So fun!!!  I got the quilt quilt top done that day, so it really does go together fast ;)

And I also have a lot of great Jelly Roll Tutorials!!   One of my all time favorites is my Read with Me quilt.  This book quilt is easy to make with Jelly Rolls and then just a bit of applique to finish it off.  I just love this quilt, and it is still a treasure in our home.   And most of all, I just love this picture, how cute are my kiddo's :)   My how time flies!!

And if you have an Ombre Jelly Roll, or any solid color Jelly Rolls for that matter, Shine would be a great quilt to make up!!!   You all know I love a good Chain Quilt and this one really lets you play with the color placement in the chain.  So fun!!!

And Playing the Scales is also another popular one.  The original tutorial was written for Fat Quarters, but I later added the alterations for making it with Jelly Rolls which is way less cutting!!!   It is a great one for using up some of those low volume strips we don't know what to do with ;)

And I have lot's of other tutorials using Jelly Rolls as well, just surf down to the Jelly Roll section to find a favorite :)

Now I just have to decide what I am going to make!!!  I have had this Jelly Roll Rug pattern waiting around for sometime, maybe it is time to get that made up :)

I hope you all have a very Happy Quilting (and Jelly Rolling) Weekend!!!

Happy Mail and a New Leader & Ender Quilt

Talk about Happy Mail!!!   The Bonnie and Camille Quilt Bee book is in the house!!!  I am just thrilled and have already flipped through all the pages of wonderful projects.   And of course, I want to make them all :)

I was super excited to find my name among the contributor's of blocks for the Beehive Quilts in this book.  How fun to be part of 583 quilters from 11 countries and 48 states that helped contribute blocks for Bonnie and Camille's Beehive Quilts.

Which made me think, why not make my own :)    I just love the layout of Bonnie's Beehive Quilt, and I actually need a new Leader and Ender Quilt and this would be perfect!!  You might recall, I was working on this new project for Leader and Ender's but it didn't work to keep changing the stitch length as it was paper piecing, so it got moved to a long-term project.   So now this Beehive Quilt will be a perfect replacement, I am so excited!!!  What a fun place to start in this amazing Bonnie and Camille Quilt Bee book.

And the good news is, I have a big stack of 2 1/2" squares just waiting.  This is going to be so fun!!!

A Star is Born Class

I had such a wonderful time this weekend at The Stitching Room.  Friday evening I shared my  Charming Baby Quilts Trunk Show, which sorry, but I don't have any pictures of.  That is what happens when I am talking up front and Barbara is holding quilts ;)  We just run out of hands, tee hee hee.   But it was so fun to finally get to share my Charming Baby Quilts live!! And then Saturday I did a class for the A Star is Born quilt from the cover of Charming Baby Quilts.  And goodness, we had such a great time!!!  These ladies were so much fun to sew with and it was such a joy to be teaching again!!!

And we even had some gals finish their quilts in class!!!   How incredible is that, an entire quilt finish in one class.   This is Amy and she did hers in Back Porch by Me and My Sister Designs.   Isn't that just so cute, and paired with the polka dot background, just adorable!!!

And Sue made her's with some Poppie Cotton Country Road Charms and I love that Sea Glass Country Confetti Cotton background!!!  It just makes all of those beautiful pinks, navy, and creams just pop!!!  Just gorgeous!!!

And Amy B. went scrappy with some old Christmas charms she had stashed away.  Isn't that gold background she added just amazing!!!  Talk about a rich Christmas Quilt!!!

You only need 2 Charm Packs and 2 yards of Background Fabric to make this quilt and I just loved seeing all of the different fabric combinations everyone choose.   And those that didn't finish are super close, so I am sure there will be lots more A Star is Born quilts soon!!!   In fact, I have seen lots and lots online so I will have to share more of those soon as well :)

I am just so thrilled that Randi from The Stitching Room in Richfield Utah had me come and share and teach.   What a joy it was!!!  And if you are in the area, be sure to stop by her cute store, it is just so great, and Barbara and I had some fun shopping as well :)

I hope you all have a Happy Quilting Day!!!!

Charming Baby Quilts - Trunk Show!!

I am so excited!!!  Tonight I get to do my first Charming Baby Quilts Trunk Show!!!  I have had others scheduled but due to Covid, they were cancelled.  But thank heavens Richfield, UT is Green so I can visit The Stitching Room this evening and share my quilts from Charming Baby Quilts!!!  I can't wait ;)

And I even finished up the last of my Charming Baby Remix's (like last night) so I am planning on taking those as well and sharing other versions of Charming Baby Quilts in different fabrics and sizes.  It should be fun.  I wish they were all quilted, but this will do for now :)

And quilting shouldn't be far off.   As of yesterday, I have all 10 quilt tops done, all 10 backings made, and all 10 bindings sewn.   Looks like a quilting marathon in the making :)  Be sure to click on the Charming Baby Quilts, All the Quilts, All the Details button on the top right hand side of the blog to see each of the remakes arrive and their instructions :)

If you are in the Richfield area, stop by The Stitching Room  this evening and join in the Charming Baby Quilts fun!!!

Labor Day Sewing!!

We spent Labor Day weekend at the Cabin  and had a wonderful time at the mountain with family!!   And while my husband was teaching the kids how to chop wood for the winter, I got to sew (the only time it is good to have a sore back :)  I had planned out my Color in the Lines Remake from Charming Baby Quilts, but hap been putting off starting it as I wanted to make it scrappy but wasn't quite up to digging through all my scraps. (I have a lot of scraps!!)    I should have just jumped in, because I didn't even have to cut a lot!!!   I had so many charm squares, jolly bars, and layer cake pieces in there it only took a little bit to have 160 rainbow charms all stacked up :)

And from there, it only two a few more minutes to cut them into the sizes I needed for Color in the Lines.   Don't those rainbow stacks just look so fun!!!  I have to admit, it was a little hard to mix them all up so I could sew them all together into rows :)

But once I got to mixing, they sure sewed together quick.   I just love the fun rainbow goodness in this.   I plan to use a nice charcoal solid sashing that I think is going to set all of these happy colors off just nicely.   It is going to finish as a twin, so I figured a darker color background will help it last longer on a bed ;)

And I couldn't help but snap this last picture.  I stacked up all the rows to take them back home to press and I just thought they looked so fun all stacked up.   That stack shows a whole lot of happy quilting at the cabin :)   Now just to get these pressed and the quilt top finished up!!!

And super exciting, this is my last Charming Baby Remake quilt top to make.   I worked on some backings yesterday, so now it is time to do some marathon quilting as I have 10 of these to quilt up :)   It should be super fun and then I will start to share the Charming Baby Remake alterations soon!!

I hope you all have a very Happy Quilting Day!!!
