My Perfect Purple Pressing Pair and and Oliso Giveaway!!!

Is there anything better than opening a box of Pressing Goodness!!!   Why yes there is, opening 2 boxes of Pressing Goodness!!!  This is now my Perfect Purple Pressing Pair and I am so excited to break them in ;)  And ya know, since I press about 2 hours every evening, it shouldn't take long.    Who knows, maybe I will even "Iron" my sweetheart's dress shirts that have been piled on the ironing board for a few weeks now ;)

If you have been around here for a little while, you know I love my Oliso Iron!!!  I got my first Oliso back in 2012 and it was love at first Press :)  After my Carpal Tunnel Surgery. I replaced my Yellow Oliso TG1600 with a  Pink Oliso TG1600 Pro .  The Pro had all the same features as the original, but they made it hotter, lighter, stronger, and built to last longer.  You can read about the updated features on the new Oliso TG1600 Pro Plus at the Oliso Website.  I can sum it up by saying it works crazy good!!!

In fact, I loved it so much, when I saw a purple version of the TG1100 was released, I bought one and kept it in the box so that I would have a "back-up" iron.   I figured it would be ready and waiting when the Pink Oliso Pro  started to give out.    Well, the Pink one is still going strong, but I had a little motivation to pull out Purple Pro Plus today.

You see, a new little perfect pairing arrived in the mail yesterday!!!    At my last retreat, I had a student using a brand new Oliso Mini Project Iron.   I gave it a try, and again, it was love at first Press ;)    I never knew a mini travel iron could get so hot and steam so well.   And I love that they added the "solemate" so you can keep it in the face down position, just like the big irons!!!  (I can't even begin to explain how much not lifting irons anymore has saved my writs :)    So ya, I just had to have one!!!   This will now be my Travel Iron, and I can't wait to take it to my classes.   It's just so great ;)

So now, the Purple TG1100 will be my at home iron and I am sure it will get used daily.  The Pink Oliso Pro is going up the mountain to the cabin, and I am so glad that it gets a new home, and that I will have a great iron even when I am sewing up the mountain!!   Oh, and in case you are wondering, Yes, my husband totally laughed at me when he found out I had a "back-up" iron just waiting to be opened for 2 years, and that I pulled it out not when I needed a Back-Up, but when I decided I wanted matching irons ;)   I mean, who can pass up Purple!!!!  (They also have Yellow, Pink, and Aqua if you prefer those colors, obviously, color is important to me :)

Here's to lots of Perfect Pressing with my Pair of Purple Pressers :)

And as a celebration of my new Purple Pressers . . . Remember how I mentioned Giveaway in the Title

Well my friends at Oliso have a real treat in store for my Happy Quilting Readers!!!  They are giving away an Oliso Mini Project Iron to one Happy Quilting reader, and you can even pick the color!!!

This Giveaway is for US and Canada only (Sorry my International Friends)

GIVEAWAY CLOSED - The winner of the Oliso Mini Project Iron is #77 - Scottylover!!!   Congrats, I have emailed you :)

ENTRY - Simply leave a comment that tells me how long your "Ironing" pile sits around before you tackle it.  (Not pressing quilt pieces here, the ironing of dress shirts and such :)

And that's it ;)  The giveaway will be open until next Monday, May 17th,  when I will announce a winner at the end of the day :)

Good Luck and Have a Happy Quilting (and Pressing) Day!!!

Updates for Following

No pictures of quilts today, but trust me, I am stitching up a storm.   I just send two secret quilts in the mail yesterday and can't wait until I get to share them.   And I am currently working on 5 new projects that I will get to share more about soon :)  But for today, I wanted to just let you know that I updated the right hand side of the Blog to hopefully make it easier to "follow me".   So here is a quick rundown of the updates ;)

To get to my Etsy Shop where you can find all of my Happy Quilting Patterns as well as the Books I have published, you can now simply just click on the Happy Quilting Pattern & Book Shop button on the right hand side of the blog :)

And with Google announcing that Feed burner will no longer do email subscriptions, I have changed my RSS feed to Follow It.   If you are already an email subscriber to get my daily posts, you have been switched over and should not see a difference in your emails arriving.   If you would like to sign up to get my blog posts by email, you can just add your email in the box on the right hand side and click subscribe ;)

And with that new box, I was able to update my Social Media buttons as well to make them easier to find.  I am no longer using Flickr so I deleted that button and the email buttons ;)   So now, you can easily find me on these social media platforms by just clicking on the buttons on the right hand side of the blog ;)

And last but not least, If you like to use Bloglovin to follow blogs,  (it sends you an email with all of the posts of all of the blogs you follow) you can find me there as well by clicking on the Bloglovin button on the right hand side as well ;)   This has not changed from the past, but I just wanted to give it a shout out ;)

And that is the update :)   Thanks so much for following along with me and I hope this post makes it even easier for you to follow in the way that is most coinvent for you ;)

Be sure to pop back in tomorrow . . . I have a fun post planned with a fantastic giveaway (think Oliso)

2 New Happy Quilting Patterns!!!

I am super excited this morning to share two Brand New Happy Quilting Patterns!!!   I have been hinting at one for a while, and the other is a surprise.   So let's get to the quilts!!!

The first quilt is called Moroccan Lullaby 2, and I am so glad you all loved the Mountain Lullaby quilt and wanted to see this new variation of the original Moroccan Lullaby quilt in a pattern.   I love this new variation as it really allows you to show off some favorite prints.   And I think the addition of borders is a great way to frame it all up.

Moroccan Lullaby 2 uses the same basic piecing as the original, with a great no-waste lattice method.  It's my favorite :)    The quilt is made with big blocks so you can make a queen size with just 16 blocks and it is super fun piecing, making it perfect for beginners and experts alike!!!

This version of Moroccan Lullaby 2 is made using Ava Kate by Carina Gardner for Riley Blake Designs.    I love the prints and colors of this line, they are all just stunning!!!     But of course, Moroccan Lullaby 2 would look amazing in any fabrics!!   The design is  Fat Quarter Friendly, so you can just grab a bundle and get cutting!!!!   And because the center block is so large with very little piecing in it, you can really use some of those larger scale prints :)

When it came time to quilt it I went all out.   I had so much fun!!!!  I quilted so, so, so many pebbles in the background.  In the blocks I quilted swirls and echoed paisleys in matching color thread as the block.   Then some adorable curls in the block outline, and finally a feather around the border.   I am just thrilled with how this came together.  It just really makes the quilt special ;)

And you know I like making a Baby Size version as well!!!   I just love being able to show how different you an make the quilt by changing out to a dark background.   And I used Low Volume prints for the blocks, how fun is that!!!

I really love how changing the lights and dark placements just gives the quilt a whole different look.   The grey in this version really makes the secondary design stand out.  So cool ;)  I used Prints from Sunday Stroll by Bonnie and Camille for Moda Fabrics  on the Criss Cross and Block fabrics.   Then I paired it with a gorgeous Graphite Cross Weave for the background.   And I just love it!!!

And I quilted it with all over echoed paisleys and I just love all of the yummy texture it created.  And I have to say, it is always fun quilting a baby quilt because it goes so fast.   Sometimes, it is just so great to be able to get something on and off in just over an hour ;)

Like all my patterns, Moroccan Lullaby 2  has size options so you can make the quilt size that fits you ;)  You will find 6 size options, a Baby, Lap, Picnic, Twin, Queen and King size.  All the sizes are Fat Quarter Friendly, and all use a great big block so the piecing goes nice and fast ;)

So now onto Pattern Release 2 . . . Here is Stamp Collecting!!!!  And I am just thrilled to be releasing this pattern because I just love it's updated vintage feel!!!  Don't those just look like little stamps ;)

Stamp Collecting is such a fun block to make.   The center is made with some basic piecing and then is trimmed so that your points come out just perfect!!!   And when I designed the "stamp" border I knew there would be a lot of seams to match.  So I figured out how to press everything so that it will nest.  It makes piecing it so very enjoyable ;)   I couldn't stop smiling at how perfect everything kept coming out ;)

And even though I haven't shared anything about this quilt, it has been a long time in the making.  As evidence by the fact that it was made in Bonnie and Camille's Early Bird fabric that came out last year ;)   Yup, this one has been waiting a little while to get the pattern all finished, but it is so worth the wait.  And it really is a fun one to make!!!

And when it came time to quilt it (a year ago) I decided to do an all over feathered swirl.  I just thought it would add to that fun vintage feel of the block and fabrics.     And it added so much texture and movement, I just love it!!

And of course, I had to make a baby version as well ;)    Everything is always just so cute when it is tiny!!!

I used Corey Yoder's Sugar Creek fabrics, which again, is an older line, but still so pretty!!!   I just love grey and pink quilts, so I pulled some of my favorite pinks and greys from the line and it made for the cutest little baby girl quilt!!!

And, like all baby quilts, it pieces together super quick, as you only have to make 4 blocks.   The sashing is a little smaller on the Baby Size as well, and I like the secondary design it creates between the blocks.   So fun ;)

And Stamp Collecting has even more size options so you can make the quilt size that fits you ;)  You will find 5 size options, a Baby, Lap, Picnic, Twin, and a Queen size.  Just grab some Fat Quarters and you are good to get going ;)

So now that you have seen the new quilts . . . Let's talk Patterns!!!

The Hard Copy and the PDF patterns of both Stamp Collecting and Moroccan Lullaby 2 can be found in my Etsy Shop, and like all my new Pattern Releases, It is on Special for 1 week!!!!  Until next Friday, the 14th,  Stamp Collecting and Wishes will be marked down!!! The PDF Patterns are just $5.50 and the Hard Copy Patterns are $7.00!!!!

Both can be found in my Etsy Shop along with my other patterns and books.

Thanks for popping in today and sharing these new finishes with me.  I am so very excited to be releasing these new patterns and hope you like it as much as I do.

I hope you have a very Happy Quilting Day!!!

Just the Way It Is

Yesterday I asked my teenage son to help me with a photo shoot of my Moroccan Lullaby 2 quilts.   I should have known from the get go.   Why is it that teenage boys just can't help but be jokers.   I guess that is just the way it is.  This is how half of my pictures turned out.  He was super good at just jumping into the screen just as I was about to snap a shot.

Or even better, the surprise peek a boo.  I would get the picture lined up just perfect, go to snap it and wham, a head pops up.   He had impeccable timing.   You know those moments when you are trying to be serious but you can't stop from busting up with laughter.   Glad he keeps it real :)    And speaking of real . . . the Photo Shoot was the last thing on my list to release this new pattern.   So tomorrow, 2 New Happy Quilting Patterns will be released, yippee!!!!

And if all that laughter didn't make my day, I came home to find a package from Fat Quarter Shop waiting on my doorstop, and we all know, it is the best day when fabric shop packages arrive!!!!   I had ordered some thread snips.   Again, is it just the way it is that thread snips seem to go missing.  I had 6 pair last year, and suddenly I was down to one.   And I know that as soon as I buy some, the others will turn up, but I don't need a whole lot of excuse to shop for quilting goodness ;)

And when I saw the Thimble Blossoms puzzle was on the Flash Sale the other day I knew it was the perfect day to order thread snips.  And then I had a coupon from the Anniversary Sew Sampler box for Layer Cakes . . . so two of those wandered into my cart as well ;)    But to my credit . . . I have been saying for years that I am going to make a Batik Quilt and I thought a Cake Mix and a Grunge Layer Cake combined with this gorgeous Confections Batiks Layer Cake from Kate Spain would get me to finally cross it off my list.   And the Folktale Layer Cake, well, it is just to pretty to pass up.

So ya, please tell me that is Just the Way it is, right!!!  You can't just order two pair of thread snips. . . you might as well throw some quilting goodness in the cart until you get free shipping, tee hee hee.   Raise your hand if your with me ;)

I hope you all have a very Happy Quilting Day and I can't wait for tomorrow to release 2 New Happy Quilting Patterns.  It's going to be so fun!!!
