This is what I thought. Yup, the design reminded me of those adorable little oysters in Alice in Wonderland. However, that got me thinking and reminded me of the Walrus in the story that has always creeped me out since I was a kid. Ahh, I can't have my design creeping me out, what to do???
So I mentioned this to a friend and showed her the new design. She instantly said that it reminded her of peacock feathers. Now that is something I can jump onto. So with that, I decided it is my new Peacock Feather design. Yippee Skippee.
These peacocks were walking around our resort when we went to Jamaica in Jan. They are so beautiful! |
So do you love the first picture and want to see more of this super adorable project and even get a step-by-step tutorial on how to make it?? Well Check Back on Monday!! That' s right you only have to wait till Monday :)

ReplyDeleteI love the loop in loops!! SO cute! And yes - peacock feathers!! Not oysters... :)
ReplyDeleteI'm seeing owl eye with the two centered in your photo. See them? They're cross-eyed? Speaking of - THERE ARE EYEBALLS ALL OVER THIS PIECE!!! How fun would those be for a Halloween project?!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty! I like the peacock feathers idea =)
ReplyDeleteJust keep on quilting. Those feathers will pop out when you least expect them. and you'll be good at them too.

Did it involve traveling? I am trying to branch out, too. I'm up to loops, budding vines, and leafy vines that I feel comfortable doing. I am exciting about expanding my quilting skills...trying to add one little thing at a time like Leah Day says to try.
ReplyDeleteI really like your double loops. I recently tried that design, too. Try sewing some feathers. I find that I can sew them a lot better than I can draw them. I also really, really doing hook feathers - they're lots easier and look great, too. I learned the hook feathers from a book called "Hooked on Feathers" by Sally Terry.
ReplyDeleteExpanding our FMQ skills is a common goal. Your loops with loops look nice and even. Good job! Onto this you could add petals (round mounds such as on a rose, spikey inverted skinny triangles as in a daisy.
ReplyDeleteHave you ever tried Leah Day's FMQing Project videos? They are short & sweet. On the right side of her page you can select the level of FMQ lessons. http://freemotionquilting.blogspot.com/
