I did a little test run of making HST with selvage blocks and they worked out just fantastic!! So, I am moving forward with this plan. My selvages are all sorted by color but I decided to only use the selvages that truly read one particular color. (Which means I have a bag of multi color selvages for another project, Yippee!!!) And of course, I decided that it should be a ginormous king size quilt, so I might run out of selvages before I get done, but that's all good too. Then it can just be one of those super fun long term projects ;)
I am hoping to cut out the grey background and foundations for the selvages pieces today or tomorrow so then I will be all set to just throw in a bit of selvage piecing here and there ;) Oh, and a few of you mentioned the other day that you hadn't sewn or saved selvages before. So I was thinking maybe a tutorial was needed. Would you like a tutorial on these Simple Scrappy Selvage Stars?? Maybe two, A Basic Sewing with Selvages Tutorials followed by a Selvage Star one?? What would be easiest and most convenient??
I'm not a selvage saver. That said, a tutorial might make me rethink that position. Look forward to that and your progress on this project.
ReplyDeleteThis is a truly genius idea! I love stars. I do need to do something with me ever growing pile of selvages that just keep getting stacked in bags. I wouldn't need to finish something all at once. I actually love sorting my quilting stash. It feels calming to me and gets me excited to sew at the same time. A bit strange, but I'm not at all dangerous. Thank you for showing this great idea!
ReplyDeleteI've started saving selvages a few months ago. They are so pretty but I've been looking for just the right project. May need to try this.
ReplyDeleteI just started saving selvages this last year. So yes I would be interested in some tutorials. Thanks. Look forward to seeing your star quilt.
ReplyDeleteI have never tried anything with salvages. So I would love a tutorial then the star.
ReplyDeleteThanks
I would love tutorials on saving selvages and the quilt your making.
ReplyDeleteYour selvages are very neat and organized. Mine are a tangled mess in a tub.
ReplyDeleteI love stars too. can't wait to see a star or two, I hope you won't make us wait until it is done for the reveal.
ReplyDeleteDo you need more selvages? I have been saving them, but have no plans to use them. I'd be glad to mail them off to you.
ReplyDeleteI have been collecting salvages and have quite a roll of them but wasn't sure how wide I should be cutting my salvages to begin with and then what to do with them other than a string quilt, so it would be lovely to have a tutorial on a salvage star. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteI've accumulated a good start to my selvage stash and would love to see your tutorials. I'm excited to see your progress on this quilt. What a fun idea the stars.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love this idea! I have been saving selvages but have no idea what to do with them. I would love to see a tutorial
ReplyDeleteI've been collecting selvages for a couple of years but haven't done anything with them. I'd love to see several tutorials on them. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteYes! I'd love a tutorial! i have some selvages but not as many as you I'm sure. But I'd love to do something with the ones i have. Thanks for the offer!
ReplyDeleteI've been saving my selvages for years. I'd love the star pattern!
ReplyDeleteI love that idea!! I may just have to join you on that journey!! I love stars too: it seems like so many of us like stars. I wonder why? Hugs, H
ReplyDeleteYes, a tutorial would be great. I love you stars with striped fabric!
ReplyDeleteyes, a tutorial would be good. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI have been saving mine! I love your selvedge star design! I have long thought I would use Krista/Poppyprints color block design...but I do love a simple star(it was my 2015 bom for myself, just not with selvedges:) I am not quite ready to commit yet, so I love seeing new ideas!
ReplyDeletemost totally. I just started saving selvages about three years ago. I do have a healthy stack and my family thinks I am nutty.
ReplyDeleteOh well.
Yes, the stars might be a very nice look.
You are a bright shining star, Melissa
Perfect! I vote for two tutorials. I've been saving them, but I'm not sure what to do with them.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to sew along with you. Looking forward to a tutorial. Thanks
ReplyDeleteyes, yes, yes to a selvage tutorial.
ReplyDeleteFor no reason that I can remember, I have always saved my selvages so I would LOVE tutorials for some great ideas on what to do with them besides fill old Mason jars!
ReplyDeleteIn the most recent quilt that I'm making, I've put the selvages aside, but there is little fabric attached to them. I've mostly just saved the colored dots. I would like to know more about saving the selvages, so a tutorial or two would be helpful. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteI'd love the tutorial! I have quite a few of them saved up.
ReplyDeleteWell, heck yeah. A tutorial would be great!
ReplyDeleteyes,please.
