I am so proud of these 2!!!! A few weeks ago, my youngest Jocelyn, and her best friend, Brooke, asked if they could make a quilted playmat to go in their "girls den" under the stairs. They had already measured the space and everything. They decided to go with rainbow scraps and how great did it turn out!!! And they made it all, so amazing!!!
And they were super excited to try out the long-arm. I thought they would be a little nervous, but they jumped right in and did arches over all of their patchwork. And I loved that they weren't stressed about perfection, they were just happy to be quilting!!!
And now they get to pull out all of their markers and coloring pages and spread out across the whole quilt!! So fun ;) I have to say, I was a little nervous when they initially asked that this would turn into one of those projects that I had to finish. But these girls blew me away!!! They were so energetic and happy to be working on this and they did it all, start to finish ;) Looks like I have some more Happy Quilters :)
I hope you all have a very Happy Quilting Weekend!!!
Way to go, girls. You did a FABULOUS job!! 🥰So encouraging that the younger ones are getting into quilting.
ReplyDeletethey did such a great job - I thought at one time my granddaughter would be interested but not after age 7, now I do have a niece and one niece's husband that quilts so that is nice - someone to pass some of this over excess stuff to maybe there will be more before that is needed.
ReplyDeleteSuch a joy to read about these two girls and the support system they had in you and your sewing room to delve right in. Love what they made - it is gorgeous with all those colours. Now I want to make a rainbow quilt too, just seeing this beauty!
ReplyDeleteGreat work for the girls! They are our new inspiration quilters!
ReplyDeleteI was really blown away by their beautiful quilt. The fact that they started and were so involved at every step and finished was an amazing learning experience for them and one they have internalized and won't forget. You have done them a great favor, and I know how enjoyable it was for you. I tried that with my great niece one summer when she was about 10, I think, but she has not followed up at this point in her life of 25 years. Maybe she will when she gets older. I did not start quilting until I retired and had the time, but that interest was deep inside from watching my grandmother and my mother. I really love the colors and arrangement in that quilt. I will try to use the idea in some things I am doing. Thanks so much for sharing.
ReplyDeleteColor me impressed! Whichever one doesn't have at her house will need one.
ReplyDeleteGreat job girls!! I bet your girls' den is nice and cozy now.
ReplyDeleteOne question: What is "circle" sewing?

They did an impressive job! Future quilters for sure:)
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful play mat. We can all learn from these sweet girls, have a plan, dive in with gusto, choose colors you love, enjoy the process and don't stress on perfection.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful project, and so fun to watch them at work!!! Tell them they did a great job!! Hugs, H
