Happy Quilting Marathon

 Last week, I shared these 3 quilt top finishes that I worked on while "retreating".  Well, this weekend, I made them quilt backs and found their bindings (I always make those at the beginning of a project) and took them over to the "To Be Quilted Closet".

And as I hung them, I realized there were a lot of Quilt Tops, Quilt Backs, and Bindings just waiting to be made into finished quilts.   These are all the quilts that I have made in the last little while (read few years as at least two are from 2018) that don't have "deadlines".  And so here they sit, and can you believe it, they have added up to 26!!!   26 that is like a literal Marathon of Quilts!!!  

And then it hit me, why not have my own Happy Quilting Marathon!!!!  I really think if I give these a deadline and share it here, well then, I am bound to actually quilt and finish these :)   So here is my plan . . . each week for the next 26 weeks, I will finish and share a quilt from the "To Be Quilted Closet".  I have made up this little tracker to keep my motivated, and each week I will add a picture in the box so in the end, I can see them all together ;)  

And I have a huge reward planned at the end.   On October 3rd, right at the conclusion of the Happy Quilting Marathon, I get to set sail on the Aloha Hawaii Quilting Cruise hosted by Stitchin' in Heaven!!!    Talk about Motivation :)  Have you ever done a quilting cruise??  They are oh so much fun!!!  Sadly, this one filled up as soon as it was opened, but there are lots of others to check out if you are interested :)  

So here is to 26 weeks of Happy Quilting!!  Wish me Luck and please help Keep me Accountable :)

Heartfelt Quilt Along - Darling Blocks

  It's Month 3 of the Heartfelt Quilt Along and I am just so in love with all of these beautiful Heart Blocks!!!  This is Fat Quarter Shop's 9th Annual Charity Quilt Along and they are always my favorite :)     The 1st Friday of each month will be a new release for blocks and today are the Darling Blocks.   And how fun are these!!!

I am such a huge fan of the Graphite Cross Weave background with my Flirt fabrics by Sweetwater.   And I think this is just going to make the cutest Heart Quilt when it is all done.  There are hearts in the prints, hearts in the piecing, and hearts in the charity this is all for, just perfect!!!  

So are you joining in with the Heart Felt fun???   You can download the block pattern right here and it is requested for each pattern you download to donate $5.00  to the Make a Wish Foundation :)  And I am super excited to say that even though it has just started,  Fat Quarter Shop's annual charity QAL has already raised over $75,000!!!  The goal is $1000,000 which will allow for 16 wishes to be granted.  How awesome is that!!!  And Moda Fabrics and Fat Quarter Shop have joined to match up to $30,000 :)  So many amazing wishes :)

February Quilt Tops

So while I was busy teaching during February, I also got to take a class and do a little "retreat sewing".  I love getting away and just having big chunks of time to sit and sew with lots of laughs and fun along the way.   So I shared back here, that I planned to take the Vintage Windmill class at the Quilty Friends Winter Quilt retreat  and was using Ombre Fairy Dust .   Well, I am super excited to say that I managed to get a lot of the quilt done in class, and then managed to finish putting the quilt top together while I was at the retreat, ya know during some of that late night sewing :)   And I am just head over heels thrilled with the way it all came together!!!  I just love it!!!  I can't wait to get this one quilted up, it is just such a happy rainbow of piecing goodness!!! 

And then while I was at the Snow Goose Quilt Retreat, I wanted to keep the Ombre Goodness going and pieced together my  Picnic Size Just Blooming Quilt from my Charming Baby Quilts book!!!  I used up every scrap from the Ombre Fairy Dust bundle and just love this happy quilt!!!   I used the warm colors for the flowers and the cool colors for the chain and I just love how it really allows both parts of the  quilt to just shine.   I tell you what, I just love playing with Ombre Fabrics!!!

And I was on such a roll, I decided to take along one an older WIP and see if I could get it done!!!   And guess, what??  I totally finished the quilt top!!  And my, does it feel great to have that out of the box and into a quilt top :)

 This quilt is Sweet Blend  by Laundry Basket Quilts and I just love it!!   I used Amy Ellis's Wanderlust fabric for it and I just love how happy and bright it turned out.   I need to get this one quilted asap, because it is for my daughter who just turned 13 and wants a Tween Bedspread now!!  I think this will work just perfect :)

 So ya, Lots of teaching, and lots of piecing in February :)   And now I have 3 more quilt tops to add to the "to be quilted" pile.   Now the only hard thing will be how to decide which to do first :)
