Ombre Goodness

So I have had a Fat Quarter Bundle of this gorgeous Ombre Fairy Dust sitting on my shelf just waiting to be cut into.  But ya know, when it comes to Ombre, you have to have just the right design that will really show off these amazing Ombre fabrics!!  .

So when I saw that this Vintage Windmill class was being taught at the Quilty Friends Winter Quilt retreat, I knew it was perfect for my bundle!!!   I got it all cut out the other day and am so excited to see it come together.   I cut a strip from the top and bottom of each Fat Quarter and then used the Mini Diamond Ruler to cut the 3 diamonds from each strip.   And seeing them next to each other has me so excited to put this quilt together :)   And this is only the lime green, there are 25 other amazing colors!!!  Let me just say, it is a good thing I have to do a massive amount of chain stitching with those strips, or else this quilt might have gotten sewn before class :)

And once I had all my diamonds cut out, I had the middle of each Fat Quarter leftover ie 10" x 18" rectangle . . . and wouldn't ya know, that makes 6 Charm Squares with just a little scrap strip left over.   So ya, You know I couldn't just fold it all back up and put it away.  Before you knew it . . . Charm Squares turned into all the pieces I need for a Picnic Size Just Blooming Quilt from my Charming Baby Quilts book!!!  My plan is to do the flowers in all the Warm Colors and the chain in all the Cool Colors.   It is going to be so fun :)

So how about you . . . have you played with Ombre Fabrics before??   They really are so much fun!!!

  1. I have three ombre fabrics (one or two yards each) in my stash. I am still waiting until "the time seems right" to use them. LOL
