It's truly the very end of Week 5 of the Happy Quilting Marathon. I don't think I could have cut it much closer this week :) But I am super excited to share my Strawberry Social quilt all quilted and bound!!! And isn't it just Berry-Tastic!!!
I actually made this quilt top in a day. I started it at 5 am at the Lake Powell Retreat the day I was taking the class and I finished that evening. It truly was a quilt in a day. And then ya, it has just sat since November waiting to be quilted. So glad it is all done now ;)
The
Strawberry Social Pattern is by The Pattern Basket. it was a great pattern to follow and obviously, super fun and fast!!! The pattern calls for Fat Quarters, but I was all about using up some scraps!!! And I just love that now I can see so many other quilts tied up in this one quilt. So fun!!! I even finished it off with a scrappy binding from all my little binding leftovers.
And when it came time to quilt it, I decided to try something new. I started by quilting a simple loop de loop. Then I went back and echoed that loop trying to give it the effect of the twisting vines from strawberries. I really think it came out cute. Oh, and this is my all time favorite block of the quilt. The fabrics totally remind me of my little Strawberry Shortcake Doll from when I was little.
And now it is all done and I am just thrilled to add it to my ever growing quilt collection. And I finished it just in time for strawberry season :) My strawberry plants are starting to flower in the background of this picture, here is hoping this year we get lots and lots of these delicious berries.
And that is Quilt #5 - Strawberry Social ;) 5 Down and only 21 more quilts to go in the Happy Quilting Marathon :) This is totally the type of marathon I can wrap my head around ;)
And that is it for today, thanks for popping in (especially at the last minute) to share this finish with me!!!
I hope you all have a very Happy Quilting Day!!
This is a really cute quilt. I am so happy to see it finished!
ReplyDeleteI really like the echoed loop de loop. I might have to try it on a quilt.
