Saturday the family and I were planning on going to the Annual Panguitch Quilt Walk!! Panguitch is about an hour and a half up the mountain. We actually moved here last year on the same weekend of the Quilt Walk and I was so bummed we missed it because Judi from Green Fairy Quilts was doing the trunk show. I sure wish I could have seen that!
So I was super excited this year to be able to attend on Saturday. There is a tractor parade and car show for the kids which all but 1 were super excited about (the one was upset he would be missing Saturday morning cartoons) , and a Trunk Show and Quilt Show for mom. Perfect combination for me to go to a quilting event but still be able to make it a family day. And it had the double bonus of meeting up with my new friend Emily (check out here Happy Chemo Quilting Campaign, it is awesome) that I met at the SLMQG who was teaching this year. That was the plan.
But, instead we woke up Saturday morning to one child running a fever and another one with a nasty cough. Grrr. I contemplated options for a bit and in the end came to the conclusion to let it go another year. Such is life right. I mean the last thing you want to be doing is driving 2 sick kids (who are like their mother and prone to car sickness) up a windy mountain, that's is just looking for trouble :) So instead of going to the Annual Panguitch Quilt Walk the sick kids sat on the couch and watched movies while the others helped dad with some yard work. But, (after some grumbling) I tried to look on the bright side and was grateful that I happened to get this in the mail on Friday from Burgundy Buttons so at least I had something new to play with to help me with my change of plans :)
SO disappointing! Hope everyone is feeling some better AND you have a chance to do some sewing!
ReplyDeleteSo sad! Poor sick kids. At least you got some pretty fabric to play with!
ReplyDeleteaww, too bad! but glad you got something in the mail instead... glad you stayed home with the kiddos.
ReplyDeleteCan you just imagine them all grown up, if you had gone, talking about Remember when we were both sick at home and mommy just left us with daddy to go to a quilt show?? hope they are all better now
That always happens to me too! My son managed to get sick with a fever the last two mama-only events I wanted to go to (those types of events are rare for me), so I had to miss them both. I was disappointed at first, but I never questioned that I should stay home to care for my baby. Hopefully you'll get to go next year!
ReplyDeleteGood choice to stay home. Not good going up a winding road with sick kids.
ReplyDeleteAt least you had a lovely jelly roll to play with.
bummer you missed your outing! I hate that! In a semi-related note, Erick's family is from Panguitch, and we are going down there at the end of July for a reunion. :)
ReplyDeleteWay to make Lemonade out of those Lemons! They will not remember that you stayed home, trust me. If they were watching TV and with their father, I would would have just gone! But that's just the selfish me. Our Ward has a Campout scheduled for the week-end of Sister's. I still want to go to Sister's but doubt I'll make it, hate when that happens.
ReplyDeleteOh bummer :o( Still, enjoy your new toys, hope it made up for it a bit!
ReplyDeleteOh poor you! Poor kids too of course, but what a shame to miss such a cool event. Still, at least you can congratulate yourself on being a GREAT, loving, and caring Mum.
ReplyDeleteJudi (in the UK)
on the bright side, you didn't have everyone packed in the car and then they got sick .. better to have just stayed home. Hope you were able to get some sewing in at least.
ReplyDeleteHow nice that you had something pretty to play with, when your plans needed to change! Looking forward to seeing what you create!
ReplyDeleteSo much for plans. It does happen that way sometimes. But it's something to look forward to again next year! Pretty jelly roll of fabric:)
ReplyDeleteIt is going to be a better quilt show next year with lots of fun with the kids, hope you are all well now.
ReplyDeleteWell, Joy has arrived so Kate's beautiful designs will start those happy feelings again. I just love the Christmas lights, the trees, the ....Enjoy
