Yesterday I got to visit Let's Quilt to do a little long arm action for the second time!! And once again, I had so much fun!!! It was nice to have a little experience under my belt from the first time so that I felt a little more confident, and subsequently was a little quicker. This time I was working on a king size quilt and it was a monster. Sadly, I can't show you the quilt (It will be published next year) but I can show you the back :)
After playing around with several designs in my head and on paper, I finally decided to go with this concept. I really like the way it creates a patchwork look and it really lends itself to the quilt design. And it was oh so much fun to quilt. It's not perfectly even by any means, but I am super happy with how it turned out. Each of those little squares are about 7"'s. So fun!!!
Now I just need to make some more monster size quilts so I have an excuse to go back down and play again. Oh, I know, maybe I could finish the King and Queen size versions of my Braided Irish Chains ;) So many projects, so little time :)
That is going to crinkle up nicely too!
ReplyDeleteGreat quilting - can't wait to see the rest of it!! You are such a quilt tease!
ReplyDeleteOh fun and it looks great.
ReplyDeleteThat does look like it would be a lot of fun to quilt on a longarm!
ReplyDeleteNext year =O. Such a cool design!! =D

ReplyDeleteExcellent quilting. I can hardly wait to see the front.
ReplyDeleteYour quilting is just gorgeous...and only your second time?! I keep thinking I should go up there and take a class!
ReplyDeleteGreat job! It looks "perfect" to me.
ReplyDeleteHey, I didn't see you mention it, but I got a great surprise in McCall's Quick Quilts Oct/Nov 2012 issue that showed up last week. there is a quilt called "Rosy Lullabye" and guess who designed it? Melissa Corry - i said "Oh!!! I know her! but I didn't see that in her blog"
Love this quilting design! I think I might could actually do this.
ReplyDeleteIt may not be perfect, but "I" love it!!!

That's a lovely design, really draws your eye across the quilt and gives it ovely texture.
ReplyDeleteLooks wonderful! I can't wait to see the front!
ReplyDeleteI agree with CathyK.....I want to see the front. When you can share the front, let us know where it's published. I love reading about a project here and then revisiting it in a different format. Really adds to the feeling of "knowing" the quilt and the quilter.

Looks great from the back . . . looking forward to the front. Was it hard to learn the long arm when it's not your own machine?
