We had such a wonderful weekend!!! Our family traveled up to Salt Lake City for our annual Extended Powell Family Christmas Party and our Immediate Powell Family Christmas Party. I am so grateful that we don't live across the country anymore, so that we can be home with our families for the Holidays.
At the Extended Powell Family Christmas Party I was able to give my Grandparent's their new quilt that I shared on Friday. Yup, I think it is safe to say that Grandma was quite surprised ;)
This is my Grandma's you shouldn't have look ;) I love it when I get it because it means she loves it!!!!
Yup, it was a winner all around. I can't begin to explain how grateful I am for these 2 people. I am so happy that they loved their quilt. Really, this is the part of quilting I love the best!!!
The next day was the Immediate Powell Family Christmas Party. Sadly, I forgot to take any pictures until the end of the day and it was packed. We normally sled, but as there was no snow, we played ball at the gym and then swam and swam. Then we had a "Do You Want To Build A Snowman" party for the kids, a huge and amazing dinner, and then we ended the evening with a trip downtown to see the lights at Temple Square.
We decided to take the Trax down so we wouldn't have to fight the traffic. Best idea ever!!! The kids had so much fun on the train ;) And that gal that looks just like me, it's not me, its my twin sister ;)
I can't begin to explain how much I love these people. I am so blessed to have such an amazing family!!! And we managed not to lose any of them in all of the huge crowds of people. Bonus ;)
And all the above is because these 2 fell in love. My cute Mom and Dad ;) Love ya!!!
The kids loved the lights. The whole night was filled with "look at those", and "Oh, those are my favorite". it was such a reminder of my own childhood that filled my heart with joy.
I have gone downtown to Temple Square to see the lights since I was a little girl and I am so very grateful to be able to pass this special tradition and the special spirit of this place on to my children.
Truly, it was an amazing weekend filled with lots of Family and lots of Love!!! We missed my little sister and her adorable family but maybe next year they will get to visit. Then we can all be "Home for Christmas".
Wishing you a very Happy Holiday Quilting Kind of Day!!
it looks like you had a wonderful visit with your family and your grandmother's look when she receives your quilt is priceless - you can tell that she loved it. You are blessed with this family of yours!
ReplyDeleteI didn't know you had a twin! Fun!
ReplyDeleteWe're going downtown tonight to see the lights. I've never been.
I love the look on your Grandma's face - what a special moment. Merry Christmas to you and your family.
ReplyDeleteThere is nothing better than spending time with family and to give them a gift made with love that is appreciated. I hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas.

Looks like a fantastic travel and weekend! I'm a little bit of positive jealous about it 😉 , because I had an OP today and cannot meet my family at Christmas. I wish you all the best!
ReplyDeleteGreetings, Rike
Thank you for sharing this family experience with us. It's kind of a warm and fuzzy feeling all over, because there really is nothing like getting together with family, especially during this wonderful Christmas season.
ReplyDeleteI always take lots of pictures when we have family gatherings, put them in a Picasa album, and share them with family members who were unable to be there with us, as well as those who were there. It's so nice to be able to look back and remember those of our family who are no longer with us, like my dad who passed last year at the age of 104. May the rest of your holiday season be filled with happiness and good times with family and friends. lv2bquilting2@comcast.net
I visited Temple Square with my mom and niece this past June. It was really beautiful; I'm sure the lights just make it look spectacular! What a fun and wonderful get-together you've had with family. I hope everyone is blessed to spend time with loved ones this holiday season!
ReplyDeleteHow so very special! Thank you for sharing the quilt and Grandma's reaction with us!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing the pics & traditions of your beautiful family. Loved the look on Grandma's face when she received your quilt. Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeletewhat a wonderful way to start the Christmas celebrations, the quilt certainly is a winner.
ReplyDeleteIt is good to see a family so close, I am one of 5 but rarely see any of them we have grown so far apart and we are all now over 60, parents both gone but lots of young great nephews and nieces have come along in the past 3 years, seems odd as my grandaughter is nearly 17
What a great family time and the quilt is adorable. Happy Christmas to you and your family.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing the photos of the happy occasion when you presented your grandparents with the beautiful quilt!! Yes, being with family is the best time ever - especially at Christmas time!
ReplyDeleteNader looks very GQ in that pic. Maybe one of the best pictures of him ever.
ReplyDeleteAww, love your grandma's face! Glad you didn't lose anyone either, it's always so hard to explain away ;o)
ReplyDeleteLovely pictures. I hope you had a lovely Christmas Day as well.
