ReplyDeleteI think this qualifies as a win: I got a three year scholarship to lawschool, which paid two thirds of my tuition every year, plus gave me a stipend for two summers to do public interest work. It was a fantastic bonus for me which enabled me to go to law school without having to work while in school, and while having to limit the loans I took to a very manageable amount.
ReplyDeleteIt was just over 40 years ago, and lawschool tuition has increased tremendously since then, but it still was worth A LOT of money for me and enabled me to take the job I wanted upon graduation, rather than having to go work for a big law firm just to pay off my loans.

ReplyDeleteIn the last several years, as I have started sewing and following along with amazing blogs like this, I have gotten quite lucky and won many giveaways - lots of precut fabrics and giftcards to various sewing shops. My sister (and sewing buddy) gets very jealous, but I always share if possible. The biggest item though, was probably my husband winning a radio contest for $1000 credit at a jewelry store - and of course I was the recipient of the necklace and earrings he picked out!

It was at the end of 2017 and what I didn't realize was that it was the last chance I would have to win it as things had changed and they didn't publish the magazine again.
