I know I say it every time, but simple patchwork is just oh so fun and perfect when you just need a quick finish. I think the quilt top was sewn in about an hour and a half. And then I went straight to the long arm.
I had so much fun quilting this ;) I did my Wavy Peel design in the squares, which is a super fun way to give that double arch look without worrying about having to make perfect arches with a ruler. This free motion design is actually in the 180 More Doodle Quilting Designs, just FYI as last time I showed this design someone was asking how to do it ;) And as I am still not a feather expert, I was grateful that the 402 Pearl So Fine thread blended really nicely into the border fabric. It for sure shows the yummy texture, but not every time I slightly missed backtracking on the lines of the spines and petals :)
Oh, and you might have noticed, at the beginning I said 2 weeks ago, but I am just sharing this today . . . . Ya, I had so much fun quilting this on the long arm, I kind of got myself into a Long Arming kick for the next little bit and whenever I could squeeze in a minute, I was quilting ;) Which means I have 3 other quilts done, that are just waiting for binding. Which is what I was doing this morning on this quilt to be able to share the finish with you ;) Please tell me I am not the only one that gets on piecing kicks, and then quilting kicks where you do all of one and none of the other for a good week???
But anyhow, I am super excited to have finished this Just Dandy quilt and I won't even have to tuck it away for long as a sweet friend is expecting a new little girl ;) The quilt finishes at 44" square so it is going to be just perfect for snuggling up a wee one in.
Thanks so much for popping in today and sharing this Just Dandy finish with me ;)
I hope you all have a very Happy Quilting Weekend!!! Which is pretty easy this weekend, right, as we get to see all of the amazing pics from Quilt Market ;) Which I promise, I will share some of that secret Market Sewing next week!!!
Until next time ;)

That's such a sweet little quilt. I have all of Robin Pickens fabrics - her prints and colors are fabulous!
ReplyDeleteThat is a great looking quilt: your feathers look beautiful to me! I think 44" is perfect for a baby quilt: big enough for the child to use it for quite a few years, and yet the backing doesn't need to be pieced! ;)
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely quilt - and lucky baby!
ReplyDeleteI've just been on a 'piecing kick' - had all sorts of blocks made up and then I stashed them - pulled out a few this week, found a few more WIPs - and have 6 quilt tops to show for it! Feels good - and they're all going to a charity that's just looking for tops! Win-win!
Oh this is very cute. I love it
ReplyDeleteWoah! this is a great design. Can you make one for me lol.
ReplyDeleteI am bad too, about getting on a 'rant' with piecing, and quilting. I am so much at fault for piecing, and then I ignore finishing . . . . . but what can you do, just keep quilting
