ReplyDeleteI made a king size log cabin quilt, hand stitched, all from scraps. I love working from scraps.
ReplyDeleteI have not made an all scrap quilt. Most of the time I use precuts and make a quilt that uses all or almost all of the pack or precuts. If there is any left over I incorporate whatever might be left over into the binding or the back so I really don’t have scraps left over. Then whatever little scraps I might have left, I use them in machine embroidery for machine appliqué later. I guess some of the quilts I have made might look scrappy though because of using charm packs with all of the different fabrics in a particular line. Not sure if that counts though since they are all coordinated by the designer to go together. Thanks Melissa for the opportunity to win in the give away! Love this idea of lots of scraps since I really don’t have that much in the way of scraps!
ReplyDeleteThe first quilt I made was from my mom's sewing scrap bin.

Recently, when we evacuated in advance of a local wildfire, the only one of my quilts I took with me was a log cabin quilt I made of scraps of fabric from all the quilts I had made prior to that one; it is a treasure and I felt that if I had that with me I would have a memento of so many quilts.

ReplyDeleteCouldn't make a scrap quilt to save my life when I first started quilting - and now they're one of my favourites! A quick and easy one is sewing 2 rectangles together to make a square - then add another with the seam going the opposite direction. Keep adding rectangle squares 'til the strip is long enough - make a lot more strips and join - and TA-DA - you have a quilt!
ReplyDeleteI have made a number of quilts from my scraps!
