Since I have already shared 1 secret Fall Quilt this week, I thought it would be fun to finish up the week with a second secret Fall Quilt :) This was another sample quilt for my wonderful friends at Moda Fabrics that I made in April and I am so excited to share it ;) So here it is, Roadside Harvest by Corey Yoder!!! Isn't that just so precious, love it!!!!
And you know how I say every quilt is fast and fun . . . well, this quilt still totally fit that for me, as I was making it fast for a sample, and it was oh so much fun to piece all of those blocks!!! But when you make yours, I would recommend giving yourself a little more than a week and a half as this quilt has over 1700 pieces in it ;) And those pumpkins aren't patchwork, they use a buffalo check print. All of the pieces are in the leaves and and trucks, but they are oh so cute, and totally worth the amount of pieces that make them up ;) This is a fall quilt that will be a treasure for sure!!!
And when it came time to quilt it, I tried something new!!! I wanted to add to the "fall feel" of the quilt, so I took my good ol Curly Q all over design and modified it. I added a little "bud" at the end of the curly Q and randomly stitched in leaves. I think it turned out so super cute. I know it is a bit hard to see, but it really stands out on the black pumpkin ;) I am going to have to remember this design for future fall quilts because I just love it, and while it did take a little more time, I got faster as the muscles memory of repetition started to kick in ;)
And now, my Roadside Harvest quilt is off to visit quilt shops so they can get pics and share all about this awesome quilt!!! And if you want to make your own Roadside Harvest Quilt, Fat Quarter Shop has a Kit already listed for it. The fabric should be shipping this month, but there is still a bit of Covid delay, but you can be notified when it is stock so you can jump on it as soon as it arrives. These will sell out super fast :)
Your quilt is beautiful! Happys titching!
