ReplyDeleteThanks to Amy Smart from A Dairy of a Quilter, I have made a hexagon quilt. A couple of years ago, I read her post about organizations that accept quilt and fabric donations. I zeroed in on One Common Thread. I thought their mission to support women in Honduras by teaching them to make EPP hexagons and sell them as kits for quilts was amazing. I mentioned it to my daughter-in-law who surprised me with one of their kits for Mother’s Day. I’d never done any EPP but gave it a try. I initially intended to give the quilt to the church ministry I participate in because blue isn’t my favorite color, but it turned out so beautifully that it is sitting on the back of my couch!
ReplyDeleteI follow everything Fat Quarter Shop does! They are my favorite and I sure do spend lots of $$ with them!

ReplyDeleteI follow The Fat Quarter Shop on YouTube and daily emails.
ReplyDeleteI have made a couple hexie quilts by machine, not by hand. The hexes were larger, so it was easy, and quicker by machine.
ReplyDeleteI have a suitcase full of hexi's that I have made while waiting for parents at various appointments including hospital stays. I have put hexi's on a t-shirt that I wear. Everybody loves it. It is not my original idea. I had a friend that did this and I was inspired! I love love love the FatQuarter Shop. I order from them quite a bit.
