New Happy Quilting Pattern - Turning Dusk Into Dawn!!

Today is the sixth and final day of my new Happy Quilting Patterns!!  And last but not least is all about . . . Turning Dusk Into Dawn!!!   This design is all about making a big statement with its big starburst blocks!!  And with four different prints in each block, you get a wonderful blend of colors that really make those accent star centers just pop.  Basically, if you love star quilts like me, this one is so the quilt for you!!

The  Turning Dusk Into Dawn Pattern can be found in my Etsy Shop in both a Paper version as well as a PDF version.  And it is on Special for it's release with PDF Patterns at $6.50 and the Paper Patterns are $8.00!  The patterns are full color and the paper version is in book format.

Turning Dusk Into Dawn is an experienced beginnr skill level pattern.     Techniques used in the pattern include No-Waste Flying Geese and Single and Double Stitch and Flip Corners Stitch and Flip Corners.  And because most of the block "floats" there are very few points to worry about lining up.  With that said, one of the points you do have to line up is an angled seam, but the pin trick really helps to get that in nice and tight :)

This Turning Dusk Into Dawn quilt is made with Before the Bloom by Danelys Sidron for Riley Blake Designs and it is just hitting quilt shops now!!  I just love the rich colors and goregous floral prints.  And the perfect thing about this line, the beauitful Rust Print that really popped from the rest of the line, made it just perfect for the accent fabric!!   But of course, this quilt will look amazing in just about any Fat Quarter Bundle!  I already made it with soft prints and a black background here . . .  I have another dark background and bright prints in the works, and I am thinking I totally need to make a Christmas version as well.  So ya, super versatile pattern!!

And this one just came off the longarm!!  Since I was in a bit of a time crunch, I decided to go with a large scale all over design.  But I couldn't choose which one, so I combined several.  So echoed paisleys, swirls, and heart curls for the win!!   And  I am so glad I went with the larger scale quilting because it really matches the scale of the blocks and I think gives them the illusion of being even larger.   So fun, and of course, lots of yummy quilt texture!!!

Turning Dusk Into Dawn like my Happy Quilting patterns, has multiple size options so you can make whatever size quilt works for you ;)     The pattern has 5 size options :  Baby, Lap, Picnic, Twin, and Queen.     And again, you can use any Fat Quarter Bundle or just pick some favorites to mix and match.   This quilt is just going to shine no matter what prints you choose!!!

And that is my new Turning Dusk Into Dawn quilt and Pattern!!!    And thanks again for coming to visit all this week and share these new quilts with me!!!  I am just so happy with these new designs and hope you love them as much as I do and want to make your own ;)   And of course,  if you have any questions at all, while working on this Turning Dusk Into Dawn Quilts (or any of my quilts for that matter)  please don't hesitate to reach out to me ;)  And when you finish I would love to see them!!!  You can email me a picture at happyquiltingmelissa@gmail.com or add it to social media with  #happyquiltingwithmc and #turningduskintodawnquilt ;)  I can't wait to see your Quilts!!!

New Happy Quilting Pattern - Alhambra!!

It's day 2 of new Happy Quilting Patterns and today it is all about . . . Alhambra!!!   And yes, it has beauitful curved piecing!!!  I just love the block design but then getting it to interlock in both the sides and corners of the blocks, so great.  It was totally inspired by mideastern architecture, and it really shows in the design.   This is quickly becoming a favorite!!

The  Alhambra can be found in my Etsy Shop in both a Paper version as well as a PDF version.  And it is on Special for it's release with PDF Patterns at $6.50 and the Paper Patterns are $8.00!  The patterns are full color and the paper version is in book format.

Alhambra is an intermediate skill level pattern.     Techniques used in the pattern include 3 Pin Curves, No Waste Lattice Blocks and Stitch and Flip Units.  This is perfect for those wanting to learn curves, or just get more practice at them.  And the curves are very forgiving as all of the same Print fabrics meet up in the curves.   And I highly recommend my Modified Drunkards Path Tempalte for this quilt, which is the same template used for all my curved patterns. So if you have already done one, chances are you already have the template!

This Alhambra quilt is made with Flora + Thread by Fancy That Design House.    This fabric line will be releasing in Nov 2026, and I just love that the goregous colors and prints totally add to that mideastern vibe I was gong for.  But the great thing is, this design would look great in any vibe, you just need to grab a  Fat Quarter Bundle, pick an accent and border that will stand out, and away you go ;)   And of course, you can always use a dark background as well, and you know I have one of those in the works as well!!

And for the quilting, to be honest, I was in a bit of a time crunch.  I basically quilted 7 of these new patterns in 4 days last week.  This was the last one, and I was down to the wire, so I just choose a quick all over swirl design.   But I have to say, I always love all of the yummy texture an all over swirl makes!

Alhambra like my Happy Quilting patterns, has multiple size options so you can make whatever size quilt works for you ;)     The pattern has 6 size options :  Baby, Child, Lap, Picnic, Twin, and Queen.     And again, you can use just about any Fat Quarter Bundle to make this quilt shine!!!

And that is my new Alhambra quilt and Pattern!!!    And I am just so happy to share it with all of you!!!   I truly love making these curved piecing designs.  And I hope that if it has been somthing you are thinking about trying, that this design will inspire you to jump in and go for it!!     And of course,  if you have any questions at all, please don't hesitate to reach out to me ;)  And when you make your Alhambra quilts I would love to see them!!!  You can email me a picture at happyquiltingmelissa@gmail.com or add it to social media with  #happyquiltingwithmc and #alhambraquilt ;)  I can't wait to see your Quilts!!!

So are you ready to start making your Alhambra Quilts???  Pop over to my Etsy Shop, to pick up your Pattern and Template.   Again, PDF Patterns are just $6.50, the Paper Patterns are $8.00,  until August 17th :)    And while you are there, check out these other newly released  patterns that are also on the same special ;)  Always good to save on shipping!!

New Happy Quilting Pattern - Home Is Where The Heart Is!!

I am so excited to share more about my new Happy Quilting Patterns and today it is all about . . . Home Is Where The Heart Is!!!   This is actually the second quilt design I have made with this name and it was inspired by the first quilt.  I originally posted a home and house quilt for the I Love House Blocks Book back here .  I loved the offset layout and little hearts, but I didn't love the houses, they were just a little to bland.   So I went back to the drawing table, and I just love this new Home Is Where The Heart Is.   Two fun houses, lots of hearts, and a fun border to really finish it all off.  So great!

The  Home Is Where The Heart Is Pattern can be found in my Etsy Shop in both a Paper version as well as a PDF version.  And it is on Special for it's release with PDF Patterns at $6.50 and the Paper Patterns are $8.00!  The patterns are full color and the paper version is in book format.

Home Is Where The Heart Is is an experienced beginnr skill level pattern.     The quilt is made of two separate house blocks and then sashed in an alternating layout to give the houses an offset layout.  The pattern teaches techniques includinginclude Stitch and Flip Corners, Tiny Piecing, and Nested Angled Seams.  It really is a fun quilt to piece, and I just loved watching each of these houses come together to make a happy little neighborhood.

This Home Is Where The Heart Is quilt is made with Larkspur and Linen by Fig Tree & Co.  This fabric line will be releasing in Jan 2027, so it's a bit of a wait, but so worth the wait!!  It was just the perfect colors for this modern traditional look.  But of course, it will look amazing in just about any Fat Quarter Bundle, you just want to make sure that you have prints that you can divide up for the hearts, houses, roofs, and doors ;)   And of course, you can always use a dark background as well, I already have one planned for that as well.

And I had so much fun quilting this!!  Again, I wanted to add to the modern tradational look, so I did loose feathers across the "neighborhood" and then cute ribbon candy and pebbles on the border to make it pop.   It just turned out so cute!!     And of course, lots and lots of yummy quilt texture!!!

Home Is Where The Heart Is like my Happy Quilting patterns, has multiple size options so you can make whatever size quilt works for you ;)     The pattern has 6 size options :  Baby, Child, Lap, Picnic, Twin, and Queen.     And again, you can use a beautiful Fat Quarter Bundle to make this quilt shine!!!

And that is my new Home Is Where The Heart Is quilt and Pattern!!!    And I am just so happy to share it with all of you!!!   Like I said, I am already planning to make this again and hope you will love making it as much as I do ;)   And of course,  if you have any questions at all, please don't hesitate to reach out to me ;)  And when you make your Home Is Where The Heart Is Quilts I would love to see them!!!  You can email me a picture at happyquiltingmelissa@gmail.com or add it to social media with  #happyquiltingwithmc and #homeiswheretheheartisquilt ;)  I can't wait to see your Quilts!!!

$5 Pattern of the Month - Summer Solstice!!!

It's July and that means its time for a new $5 Pattern of the Month here at Happy Quilting!!!  And July is all about Summer Solstice.  And it is just $5 all month long!!!

The  Summer Solstice Pattern can be found in my Etsy Shop in both a Paper version as well as a PDF version and both versions will be marked down to $5.00 for the month July.   This is such a fun quilt to make and has lots of great techniques in it.  It is a fantastic scrap buster.   It is rated for Intermediate quilters and if you don't have a lot of scraps, the pattern is also written for Fat Eighths or  Fat Quarters.

Summer Solstice  has 6 size options.   It is an extremely versatile deign.    It uses Half Square Triangle Units, Stitch and Flip Units, Square in a Square Units, and No Waste Flying Geese Units.   So ya, lots and lots of fun piecing!!

And like I said, Summer Solstice  is a super versatile design.  So don't feel like you have to do Yellow Grunge just because I did in the original.  It looks aweome in a rainbow of colors as well.   Don't these Batiks just shine in the design!!   And not quilting your print pieces and only quilting the background will make the piecing pop all the more!  Truly, just grab any  Fat Eighth or Fat Quarter Bundle or dig through all your scrap bins, and this quilt will come out amazing every time!!

And remember, you don't have to use a white background either!!  I finished up piecing this quilt top of  Summer Solstice using Cannon Beach with a Grunge Cobalt Backgounrd and it is just stunning.    And yes, it is still in the "To Be Quilted" pile, yup, another top for the new Happy Quilting Ultra Marathon ;)   I'll try to get these done this month so you can see them all finished up while it is still the Pattern of the Month ;)

And that is my $5.00 Pattern of the Month!!!  July 2026 is all about the Summer Solstice!!!   You are going to have so much fun making this quilt ;)   And of course,  if you have any questions at all, please don't hesitate to reach out to me ;)  And when you make your Summer Solstice quilts I would love to see them!!!  You can email me a picture at happyquiltingmelissa@gmail.com or add it to social media with  #happyquiltingwithmc and #stackedsquaresquilt ;)  I can't wait to see your Quilts!!!

Shine On Quilt with Free PDF Pattern!

Today, I am super excited to be sharing this new Shine On quilt in beautiful Expressions Batiks along with a Free PDF Pattern for making your own! Shine On has been in my little sketch book to create ever since our trip to Germany last year (more on that in a minute).   And I am just so thrilled because the quilt finish is even better than I had dreamed! Don't you just love it when that happens! Basically, this quilt just makes me smile :) It truly does just Shine On!!

How beautiful are all of those little patchwork squares in those stunning Seaside Sunset batiks!!  And the best thing is, Shine On is made with quite a lot of strip piecing so it comes together a lot quicker than it looks.   And Strip Piecing means it is also Jelly Roll/Rolie Polie Friendly so you can grab a Happy and Bright Roll and the Free Shine On PDF Pattern and get making your own!  And what really makes this quilt "Shine" is the beautiful batiks, and the contrasting white accent and black background.  It really gives the quilt that stained glass effect!!

Which is where the inspiration from this quilt came from.  While visiting Germany, I snapped this shot (from a distance, sorry it's a bit blurry) of a beautiful stained glass window in the Cologne Cathedral.  I was just drawn to all of those tiny pixelated squares of color framed in the gorgeous windows.  So when I got home, I started to play with a few sketched images of how I could "recreate" my own version. I loved all of the square piecing, but I needed a little "structure".   And that made me think of my Shine Quilt Tutorial that I did back in 2018.   And I knew right away, I had the structure, I just needed to change the placement of the prints and background.  And then from Shine and a Cologne Cathedral window came Shine On!!

Shine On finishes at 66" x 88" so it is a perfect size for a twin size bed or would make a nice cuddle quilt on the couch.    And truly, it comes together super fast considering the size of the quilt and how many little squares it is made of.  And you can't help but just smile when you are making it because it is just so full of happy color goodness.     So download your Shine On PDF Pattern, grab a happy bright Jelly Roll/Rolie Polie, 2 yards of white, 2 yards of black, and away you go!!

When it came time to quilt my Shine On quilt I knew right away that I was going to do my all over Wavy Orange Peel.   I mean, when you have a beautiful grid like that in the piecing, you just have to take advantage of it.   And "wavy" orange peel does not require rulers, so it is just free motion fun.  And it gives such a great finish with so much amazing texture.   And for that added pop of color goodness, I used a Rainbow Variegated thread and it just makes me so happy.   It was the perfect finish for the this Shine On quilt!!

And that is my Shine On Quilt !! I hope you love this quilt just as much as I do and make your own. And if you do, I would love to see them!!!   You can share your quilt with me on social media using hashtags #happyquiltingwithmc and tagging @happyquiltingmc or email me a picture at happyquiltingmelissa@gmail.com. I can’t wait to see your Shine On quilts!!!

Thank you so much for popping in with me to share this new Shine On quilt finish with me.  And yes, we finally got some snow, and I love how the white background just makes the chain in the design pop all the more ;)

I hope you have a very Happy Quilting Day!!!
