It's the end of Week 4 of the Happy Quilting Marathon and after sharing this quilt on Thursday, I knew exactly what quilt I wanted to finish up this week!!! I started today's quilt back in 2019and it has been waiting to be finished for some time. So without further ado . . . here is Halloween Sparkly Stars and it because I have made it a few times, it also has a free step by step tutorial as well as a FREE PDF Pattern with 6 size options!!!
Sparkly Stars is such a fun and easy quilt to make. I call it "Sparkly" because the points of the stars overlap, so you don't have to worry about matching any points. Each Fat Quarter makes a Block Star and a Block Background. And with the Free Sparkly Stars Pattern you can choose to make just the size you want!! This is the twin size :)
Sparkly Stars is Fat Quarter Friendly, making it easy to grab a FQ Bundle and get stitching right away. I actually bought this FQB of Halloween Magic by Bella Blvd. for Riley Blake Designs clear back in 2015 at one of my first quilt markets. I loved that it was "cute" Halloween :) But really, any FQ Bundle would look good in this design. I have now made Sparkly Stars winter themed, monochromatic, and Halloween, and I have 4th of July and Christmas added to the list to make ;)
And when it came time to quilt it, I decided to take advantage of the face that all the blocks are 9 patches. And that makes it super easy to do a wavy orange peel. I used a medium grey so it would blend well with the black and the prints, and I just love how it gives the effect of spider webs, but not in a scary way :) And it makes for some amazing texture, so fun!!!
And now that it is complete, it has been folded up in the Holiday quilts. Here is hoping I remember to pull it out at Halloween :) If you haven't figured out by now, Halloween is not my favorite. I don't mind the cute part of Halloween, but I am really not a fan of all the scary stuff. So ya, this is pretty much the first Halloween quilt that I have made and plan to keep :)
And that is Quilt #4 - Halloween Sparkly Stars ;) 4 Down and only 22 more quilts to go in the Happy Quilting Marathon :)
And that is it for today, thanks for popping in to share this finish with me!!!
Oh, and if you make your own Sparkly Stars quilts, I would love to see them! You can share your quilts in any size with me on social media using hashtags #happyquiltingwithmc and #rileyblakedesigns and tagging @happyquiltingmc or email me a picture at happyquiltingmelissa@gmail.com. I can't wait to see your Sparkly Stars Quilts!!
Hello Quilting Friends! Today I am thrilled to be sharing this adorable Sparkly Stars quilt as well as a Free PDF Pattern for it!!! This quilt features the Hello Winter Flannel line by Tara Reed. As soon as I saw this fantastic fabric line, I just knew I had to make a snuggle quilt with it. My children love, love, love Flannel Quilts, and want a bunch of them to have at the cabin for winter snuggles around the fire place. And I just knew that Sparkly Stars was the perfect pattern to share these fun flannels in!!!
Sparkly Stars is a Fat Quarter Friendly quilt, so I grabbed a super soft FQB of Hello Winter and got cutting. I just love how soft Riley Blake Designs flannels are. Have you ever created with them before?? They are just so wonderful!! I even used Designer Flannels in the background and binding!! Riley Blake has so many to choose from, making this an adorably, snuggly quilt!!!
Sparkly Stars is such a fun and easy quilt to make. I call it "Sparkly" because the points of the stars overlap, making it easy for you to sew together as you don't have to worry about matching any points. So great!!! And the alternating block layout gives it so much fun movement. I just love it!
My original Sparkly Stars quilt was done in purples and greys and I made it back in 2018. (Purple is my absolute favorite color!!!) When I made it, I also shared a free Happy Quilting Tutorial, that walks you through how to make it step by step. This is a great option to check out, especially if you are new to quilting!!!
And as I mentioned, there is also a free PDF Download of this pattern and I included 6 size options, so you can make this quilt in just the size you want without any quilt math. I just love doing quilt math, I know, weird, but I really do just love it!!! All you need is a stack of Fat Quarters, a Background fabric, and you are good to go!!! To get the FREE PDF Sparkly Stars Pattern Downloadjust click here :)
And when it came time to quilt mine, my son told me to make sure I don't quilt it so much that it isn't soft anymore. So I went ahead with a simple loop de loop in a fairly large scale. And he even gave his Softness seal of approval when I was done. This is the same kid that as a toddler used to put his head between the bolts of minky at the fabric store and rub up and down, tee hee hee :)
And I added another little surprise in this quilt. I just love adding a panel into the backing. Just simply adding a border to the panel totally makes for an adorable, two sided, quilt!!! And you better believe the panel and border are more flannel, softest quilt ever!!!!
And that is my Sparkly Stars Hello Winter quilt!!! I hope you have enjoyed this post.
Thank so much for popping in today and sharing this finish with me!!!

Well, it's the end of Week 3 of the Happy Quilting Marathon and I am excited to share my third Happy Quilting Marathon Quilt. It's Called Mon Cheri and I just love, love, love this quilt!!! The design is just awesome and the fabrics fit the design so perfectly :)
This pattern is one of the Exclusive Patterns from my 2021 October Sew Sampler Box called Mon Cheri. (P.S. it's a great time to sign up for the Sew Sampler Box as they are just starting a new year!!!) I just loved everything about this quilt when I pulled it from the box and instantly began cutting it out, and can you believe it, I made it exactly like the pattern with no alterations. That just shows how much I loved this design!!! The pattern finishes at 52" x 62" so it is a great lap size :)
Like I said, I used the prints straight from the box that were designed to go with this quilt. They are Whimsical Romance Fabric Line by Keera Job for Riley Blake Designs! ((It is the same fabric I used for my Moonstones Quilt that I shared a Free PDF Pattern for, just in case you missed it!!)) I absolutely love these prints and colors, just gorgeous!!! And I love that the low volume prints in the line are used for the hearts, just makes them pop!!!
And this week almost got away from me, but luckily, this was a smaller quilt so I was able to quilt and bind it all this morning. I quilted it with an all over feathered swirl. I just love all of the flow this design gives a quilt, just so pretty!!! And it makes for some amazing texture, so fun!!!
And now that it is complete, I am planning to give it as a high school graduation gift for a special friend. Doesn't this just say, "take me to college". I think it just has such a happy sophistication to it, its going to be a perfect snuggle quilt in the dorms!!!!
And that is Quilt #3 - Mon Cheri ;) 3 Down and only 23 more quilts to go in the Happy Quilting Marathon :)
And that is it for today, thanks for popping in to share this finish with me!!!
This is not a quilting post, but I am so full of Gratitude I just had to share it!!!

Many of you know our son, Spencer, is currently serving a 2 year religious mission for The Chruch of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Germany. On Tuesday night our son's apartment in Germany caught fire. He and his companions were able to exit the building without harm, sans some smoke inhalation. 8 of his building mates were sent to the hospital and we pray for their quick recovery. We are so thankful to the police, fire department, ambulance drivers, and other service heroes who helped and took care of everyone who was affected by this tragedy. There were so many small miracles that kept our son and his companions safe and I know that our Father in Heaven was watching over them.
I am so grateful for a loving God and our Savior, Jesus Christ, who both know each of us, love us, and guide us!! Spencer is now in Frankfurt at the mission office while they figure out new living accommodations and such. He will be able to return to his apartment on Saturday to see what is salvageable, but again, we are just so happy he is safe and well. He sent me this picture this morning and I just love it!! This is him arriving in Frankfurt the next morning in his pj's. He's tired but he is smiling :)
