August Sew Sampler!!!

August is just about gone, and wow, what a month.  This last week has actually felt a little "normal" so great!!!!   And it meant I actually got my Sew Sampler Box, opened and the block made before the end of the month!!!  And it was a great one to unbox with the theme of Rise and Shine, and doesn't that just make you smile ;)   And then what was inside really made me smile ;)

First I unboxed these beautiful Backyard Blooms Charm Packs by Allison Harris for Windham Fabrics.   And you all know how much I love Charm Packs!!!!  Know I can't decide if I want to use them to make another Charming Baby Quilt (because how cute would Hugs and Kisses Quilt be in this line) or this super adorable Crazy Daisy pattern.   I just love those fun stars in the chain, so great!!!

And next came the notions and of course, they totally match for the fabric and pattern!!!  (I just love how Fat Quarter Shop does that!!!)   I am so excited about this Rotating Cutting Mat.  It is the perfect size for trimming a giant stack of HST's while sitting on my bed watching Pride and Prejudice :)    And I for sure will be needing that Crazy Quilt Paper if I make Crazy Daisy, which even if I don't use this fabric for, I am sure I will make sometime.  It's just to cute not to!!!   And finally, Quilting Between Needles from Dritz, which I won't use as I am not much of a hand stitcher but I can restock Barbara for when she does my bindings :)

And last, but not least . . . a new box means a new Block!!   .This year we are working on the Greatest Hits Quilt and this block is Track 5  ;)   I am really getting excited to see these blocks come together, they are going to make such a fun sampler quilt!!!

And just a note, if you are wanting to get in on the new year of Sew Sampler boxes you have to get in line.  There is currently a waiting list as the box subscription is full.   But hopefully the wait isn't to long.  (I have been told new spots open up each week!!!)

And that is the August Sew Sampler Box!!!
I hope you all have a very Happy Quilting Day . . . Let's make this a great week!!!

Back to School

So we are back to school at our house this week!!!  I am so very grateful that my kids are able to go back to school this year.  I know this is not the case for everyone, and I know it might not last the whole year, so I am just so glad for them for whatever time they get to go to school.  They so missed their teachers and friends, and I don't think they have ever been so excited for summer to end ;)

Spencer is a Senior this year (what!!!!) and Jessica is a Sophomore.

And of course, we had to take mask pictures this year ;)

Kristian is in 8th Grade and Kamryn is in 6th Grade and gets to go to the Middle School this year.

I am so glad we made lots of masks as they sure love getting to pick a new mask each day :)

And Jocelyn is our only one left in Elementary School and is in 3rd Grade this year!!

And according to her, we need to make even more masks so she has one to match each of her outfits ;)

I think we can manage that ;)

And in the mean time, I am stitching up a storm.  Even though my kids are older and don't need my constant watching over them, I am still blown away with how much more I can get done in a day when I have zero interruptions.   I am sure I will miss all of their "mom, can I??" in a few weeks, but right now I am just enjoying the quiet and stitching like no one is watching, because they aren't :)

I hope you all have a very Happy Quilting Day!!!!

Garden of Quilts!!!

Sadly, there will no longer be quilt classes at the Garden of Quilts so I won't be able to teach there this year.   Of course I am sad ( I was really looking forward to it),  but  I totally get it as the venues want to keep their amazing quilters safe.  But, I am excited to say that even though there won't be classes, the Garden of Quilts is still going to go on!!!

The venue will be open September 18th and 19th and you can  reserve a ticket with a scheduled admittance time to be able to walk through and see all of the beautiful quilts hanging in the amazing Ashton Gardens!!!   And there will be socially distanced vendor's so that is super fun as well.

It is only $20.00 a ticket and it is going to be just amazing.   Acres and Acres of beautiful quilts hanging in beautiful gardens.   So if you are going to be in Utah, it is in Lehi , just outside of Salt Lake.  Just remember to bring your mask as those are required at the vendors and when inside buildings ;)

And I am doubly thrilled to say that I will have some of my quilts hanging in the Garden.  I was thrilled to find that all 5 of the quilts I submitted were chosen to hang this year.  What an honor!! So if you are there, look for my quilts, I can't wait to see where they will be hanging ;)   These are the quilts there. . .

Isn't that just so fun!!!   I am just thrilled to still get to be a small part of the Garden of Quilts!!!  And I am just so glad that they can still hold this amazing event. ;)  It is going to be a wonderful day of wandering while being filled with all of the quilty goodness!!!!

Thanks for popping in today and each and every day!!!

I hope you each have a very Happy Quilting Day!!!

Planning a New Leader/Ender Project!!!

I woke up this morning and decided I needed to start a new Leader and Ender project.  I finished up my Scraptastic Stars blocks that were my Leaders and Enders last year, and haven't had a new project for almost a year.  I have just been sewing Leaders and Enders from whatever project I was working on at the time.  So I starting pulling from my sewing room trying to come up with an idea.   And this is what I ended up with . . . what do you think???

So let me tell you how I arrived at this quilt :)   First off, my scrap bins are totally overflowing.  I through about using pre-cuts as I have a stash of those as well, but as soon as I saw how I have been having to stuff my scraps in just to get the drawers shut, I knew this new project had to be a scrappy one!!!   And as soon as I think scrappy, I start thinking rainbow quilts as that is how I sort my scraps ;)

So with the fabric picked, next up was picking blocks.  I was thinking simple squares, or a chain, when I noticed these Quilt Block Foundation papers from It's Sew Emma.   And they made me think of how I really need to practice some basic paper piecing as I am really not great at paper piecing.   I have been wanting to work on it for some time but didn't want to pick out a totally overwhelming project, as a lot of paper piecing quilts are ;)    So now with he blocks picked, I just needed to make a design ;)

And so I played around in my EQ8 for a little bit and after some trial and error with 6" and 12" blocks, I settled on this layout.   And I just love it!!!  Of course, my blocks are going to be totally scrappy!!  And I think I also may change out the print and white placement on some of the blocks to add even more variety.   I am excited to get started on this ;)

I think I will have to do a little prep work of cutting some strips so this will work as a Leader and Ender project but I am excited to get going.   I am going to be Scrap Busting, while gaining Paper Piecing Confidence, and also having a new Leader and Ender project, triple bonus!!!  Can't wait to get stitching!!!
