The Scraptastic Star Blocks are Done!!

I finished the last 3 of my Scraptastic Star Blocks that I have been making as my Leader and Enders this year!!  And I am so excited!!!   But more on all 16 blocks in a minute.  First, let's look at the last 3 blocks ;)  The first one is pretty in Pink!!  I love how soft this block is :)

The next block is Red.   And this one has so many wonderful shades of red.   I was really surprised with how many shades of red I had in my little stash of 2 1/2" squares.  And I just love how much the white squares pop against all of those red prints!!

And finally, Burgundy.  And I just love these deep, rich reds.  And mostly, I just love that it was the very last  Scraptastic Star Block for my quilt!!!  So do you want to see them all???

I thought so :)   Here they are, my 16 Scraptastic Star Blocks all together!!  And I have to say, that this picture just makes me smile from ear to ear.  I love, love, love these blocks and I have had so much fun making them as  Leader and Enders throughout this year.

Now all that is left is to make the sashing.  Now my only decision is do I use scrappy black prints or solid black fabric for my sashing??  What do you think . . . scrappy or solid??

I hope you all have a very Happy Quilting Weekend!!!

  2. I'd use one black muted print for the sashing/borders as you don't want to take away the entire focus of the quilt --- those beautiful blocks! Can't wait to see what you end up doing with the quilt top! Deb E / CA

  10. I'm voting solid as well. Keeps the eye on all of the different fabrics in each scrappy block. Can't wait to see the finished quilt!

  12. I think solid would look best. Scrappy might take away from your lovely scrappy blocks. Love these blocks :)!

  13. If these were my blocks I would put them together without sashing. But since you are asking I would definitely go with black sashing Thanks for the pattern!

  14. I've really enjoyed seeing your progress with these blocks Melissa... I'm not confident with scrappy sewing & most of my attempts have been more like fabric vomit than scrappy... your project has shown me that scrappy can be beautiful, it just takes a bit of planning & clever placement. Thank you for that!

  16. I vote black solid or a subtle print that reads solid.
It's really lovely though, never thought of doing something with my scraps.

  18. What a fun quilt! (Lots of work, too!) Since you have solid white, you should be able to use either prints or solids without it looking odd. Were it my quilt, I would opt for black or darkest gray/charcoal on black prints to give texture without too much light, which could interfere with the delightful mid-sash 9-patch connecting your blocks (what a clever secondary pattern! I love it!)
