Moroccan Lullaby 2 - In the Works

Thank you so much for all of the love on my new Mountain Lullaby Quilt!!!  When I asked if you would like a new Moroccan Lullaby Pattern that includes the alterations I did for this quilt, it was a resounding yes.   So I just wanted to let you know . . . that is in the works ;)

As I said in my previous post, this Mountain Lullaby quilt is for the Cabin, so I knew right off, I would need to make a new quilt for this pattern so that I would have it available for teaching and trunk shows and such.     I wanted to do some gorgeous large prints to highlight that big center block and found the perfect fabric line for it!!!   Isn't this bundle of Ava Kate by Carina Gardener just gorgeous!!!  I squealed when I got it out of the box, it is just so pretty!!   I think all of those large floral prints will just sing in the center of the blocks.

And then the fun part, picking the other fabrics to go along with it!!!  I plan to pair it with a Shades Snow background, an Apricot Blush Blossom print for the outlines, and the Black Stripe print from the line for the pop fabric.   I can't wait to get it all put together, I think it is going to be just stunning!!

And of course, I will most likely make a small baby version as well, but I haven't decided on fabric for that yet ;)  I am hoping to have the quilts made and the pattern done by the end of this month.  Just fyi in case you are waiting for it.

I hope you all have a Happy Quilting Day!!

I am off to cut into this gorgeous stack of Ava Kate!!!

Stacks

I love being able to work on several projects at one time.  It lets me play with so many pretty fabrics in one day, keeps each step varied, and allows me to be super efficient!!!  But it also creates lots and lots of stacks, in various stages of completion.   Here's the stacks I am working on this week ;)

You might recall I shared that I am working on a new Happy Quilting Pattern that will have curves . . . We'll now I have Stacks and Stacks of Crusts and Pies to make into Modified Drunkard Path units.   Let the creasing, pinning, stitching, and pressing begin!!  Lucky for me, this Songbird Fabric line (comes out in May)  by Fancy that Design House, is absolutely stunning, so I don't mind creasing, pinning, stitching and pressing over and over and over again :)

I also have this Stack of Sparkle Star Paper Piecing units ready to do some Chain Paper Piecing.  I found I really like "cutting out" the first step instead of trying to match the fabrics in the light.  It just makes it go faster and allows me to really "Chain Piece" even though I am paper piecing, and that is the kind of Paper Piecing I really am starting to like!!!  I am making a table runner with my Starlite Sampler Scraps and it is just going to be so fun to have on the table this coming Christmas!!

And this fun Stack of blocks is just waiting to be sewn into a quilt top.   This is for a new free tutorial I am working on :)  I just had so many Low Volume scraps, I decided it was time to do something with them.   It combines Log Cabin building with Chain finishes, my favorites!!!   Hopefully, this will be released soon :)

And finally, there has to be a Stack that hasn't even been started yet, right ;)   Remember at the beginning of the year when I said I was starting the My Favorite Color is Moda Sampler ,  well, it is still sitting in a gorgeous Stack of Grunge just waiting to be cut into.  But I refuse to take it off my "stacks in progress" pile as I really want to work on this  It just might be a "sticking around" kind of Stack ;)

So how about you . . . what Stacks are you working on in your sewing space??

It's March!!!

Oh my goodness, where did February go???  Ready or not, it's March.   And there are a few things to be super excited about for March . . .

First of that being the Instagram Quilt Fest!!!   This is hosted by Amy Ellis (@amyscreativeside) and has been an annual March thing for as long as I can remember.   It's all about a daily prompt to share and it is a wonderful way to meet new quilting friends, be inspired by quilty goodness, and  learn lots of quilting tidbits.   If you have never joined it, this is a great year to start :)

And second, the Serendipity Quilt Along starts this month!!!  It was originally slated to start today, but the start date is being pushed back to March 15th to allow more time for shipping of fabrics .  But that just means you have 15 more days to get all your supplies together to be ready for the First Release on the 15th!!  I am using Happy Days by Sherri and Chelsi ;)  I am so excited for this awesome Quilt Along, especially as it benefits such a great cause ;)

And finally, the reason I am so super excited for March . . . It's just so great to see the Sunshine again ;)  This morning I sat on the couch in my living room and just enjoyed the sun steaming in through my bay window.

So bring on March!!!

Here is to a Happy Quilting March Day ;)

Quilty Friends Winter Retreat!!

I am just so happy that I got to teach again!!  The Quilty Friends Retreat was just amazing!!!  I had so much fun getting to hang out with quilty friends again :)    Barbara and I just enjoyed every minute of it.   And I know, not everyone is able to gather again, and I am sorry.   We had to follow quite a lot of guidelines in order to be allowed to meet.   Masks, Social Distancing, and lots and lots of Sanitation.   You were allowed to take off (if you desired) your masks at your designated socially distanced sewing space, and that was nice.   But we did miss a lot of friends as in order to maintain that social distancing, the attendees of the retreat was cut in half.   But all in all, so amazing, and so glad everyone worked together so that we could meet and sew!!!

I taught 3 classes at the retreat.   The first class I taught was my Wishes Pattern!!   This was my first time teaching this new pattern and everyone did such a great job!!!   I just loved seeing everyone's blocks come together and the class was super fun as there are lots of technique in this block including no waste Lattice Blocks that I just love ;)    We had some fun background fabrics as well, that are so going to pop!!

The second class I taught was another Wishes Class!!   Yup, the first one filled up so fast, I got to teach a second class of it.   And again, just so fun!!!  Everyone in class just did amazing and I loved seeing all the variety of fabrics.  You know I leave every class wanting to remake the quilt in another 5 fabric variations :)
And can you believe it . . . we even had a quilt top finish before the end of retreat!!!  How adorable is this baby size Wishes Quilt, so precious.   And can you believe it, this is the third quilt she has made, as in, total beginner.  (I never would have guessed that in class, she was so great!!)    So amazing!!!

The next day I taught my  Scraptastic Stars  class.   And oh my, was this a super fun class!!!   I always love playing with scraps and so to get to teach an all scrappy class was just so much fun!!!  I tried to convince my class that they could each give me there block and I would have a quilt already, the decided to hand on to their blocks, tee hee hee.     I just loved seeing each of these blocks come together in all of their scrappy goodness.   (And yes, we did note two of the chains were faced the wrong direction and got them fixed before the end of class ;)

And my favorite part of this class . . .  We did a Square Swap!!!   I brought lots and lots of 2 1/2" squares, lots and lots of scraps along with my AccuQuilt GO! and 2 1/2" square die for easy cutting, and it was just scrappy awesomeness.  Others from class brought extra squares as well and it was so fun to see everyone sorting through the piles of scraps looking for just the right colors for their blocks.   I am so doing this with every Scraptastic Stars Class, and how cool will it be when the squares from one class are used in another and they just keep moving around.  I just love swaps because your quilt is made from so many Happy Quilters scraps ;)

And when classes were all done, I got all set-up and did my Charming Baby Quilts Trunk Show Friday evening!!  And oh, this was so much fun!!!  I got to share my 10 quilts from Charming Baby Quilts along with the 10 Remix's and the Charming Baby Sampler.   I just love getting to share the stories behind my quilts, from their designs, to picking fabric, to why I quilted them a certain way.  It was just so great and now everyone has lots more "go-to" baby quilts :)

And now, I get to look forward to the Quilty Friends Spring Retreat next week!!!  Yup, remember when I said the attendance was split in half for social distancing . . . well, the other half are next week and I can't wait :)   It is going to be oh so much fun!!!

Oh, and one last picture.   Several of you requested to see Barbara's Posh Penolope quilt from class last year after I shared my Posh Penolope Mini a bit ago.   Well, here we are.  Barbara and her amazing Queen Size Fall Stunner, and me and my Purple one block mini.   Trust me, this got a lot of laughs when we shared them together ;)

And that was the Winter Retreat, and I am just so happy to have been able to attend and can't wait for the Spring Retreat next week.  More to share soon ;)

Happy Quilting!!
